Sent photos of chairs and wardrobe via email and they replied yes they are fine so collection arranged. On the day the collection people arrived and said no. I showed them the email with photos in which they said yes but they wouldn’t take them. I will never donate to them again

I had 2 sofas for collection. They arrived within 2 days of calling them. 4 men came to inspect them. I had removed all the cushions from sofas so they could just carry out the sofas easily. They pointed out the difference in the material where the cushions are normally and how the material below looked. Said it was stained from the light. I put cushions back in place and it was perfect. So now before we donate to them we are to keep all our furniture in a dark room so as it won’t fade. Would have been a lovely addition to someone’s house but they refused to take. As someone mentioned in another comment they basically want new furniture. I won’t be using their services again.

As frequent donors to BHF, when moving house in 2023 we arranged for them to collect several items of surplus furniture. Unfortunately the only day they could collect was moving day but we decided it would be OK as it was a morning collection. Nobody arrived. On phoning I was told 'oh sorry, the driver has hurt himself and won't be coming' - we were left with a major dilemma as to what to do with the furniture. Fortunately our removal company sent another van and took it to a friend's garage from where Shelter collected it and were delighted with the quality. Then....last week the sale of my mother's house completed. Again we gave BHF the chance to collect the 'good' stuff then, two days prior they cancelled (at least they phoned this time). Too late to find anyone else able to collect before completion of the sale so we had no choice but to break up and dispose of good, usable stuff. Heartbreaking. Sorry, BHF, never again. Our money and goods will go elsewhere.

Booked a pick up to donate an electric bed and mattress in near new condition. Stored it in my garage for five weeks as that was the earliest they could pick up. When they came to pick it up you could tell they didnt want to do any work. One guy picked up the mattress and took it out into the sunlight and said after tilting it back an forth that there was a mark on it. There was no mark on it at all... tried to say it was stained on the paperwork which I refused to sign. The mattress was used but in great condition and the electric divan was in prestine condition. Five week and they rejected in less than 60 secs. Beggars can't be choosers........ don't bother with this charity. They are only interested in new items that line their managers and CEOs pockets. Total waste of my time!!

Bought an American Fridge Freezer for £139. On delivery day, got a text around 10.19 to expect delivery between 9.15 and 11.15am. I started running down from the store on my street only to get another message at 10.24 that no one was home. I was given just 5 minutes between notice and delivery. Called for delivery to be rearranged and the person said I'll have to pay another £25 for redelivery. He said that the company expects me to be at home all day so it doesn't matter whether or not I only got 5 minutes notice. Asked for a refund instead.

Too fussy. Would not take good quality items due to van drivers guide lines. Wasted a day waiting in and now still have to get rid ourselves. Would not recommend

Delivery driver refused to take pine wall units in very good condition. I will not be taking my custom to BHF in the future. If they only accept brand new items they should not be paying these van drivers with monies donated by the public who think their generosity is going towards helping fight heart disease. Why is BHF not taking notice of these reviews? Absolutely disgraceful.

Requested a house clearance online and was called quickly and booked in for a visit to see the items I wanted clearing on the Friday. The time was between 07:30-2:30pm but I should get a call 30 minutes before. No one arrived & no one called. I tried to call the shop numerous times but kept going to voicemail. We have a completion date so need the house cleared by a specific date. Very unprofessional and unreliable so I would not recommend.

What a rip off. £30 delivery, it's £15 at the Salvation army. I was going to buy a bookcase and I had some furniture at home to donate, I asked if they could waiver the delivery fee as they were collecting from me anyway. They refused. The items they sell are overpriced to say they get them free. They are only lining their own pockets.

Anonymous I made a booking using the online system for collection of furniture from the Cramlington store which was showing availability on the two days I chose for a collection. I received an email confirming my request. I’ve been accepted and that I would receive a telephone call nearer the date. I itemise all of my furniture which was absolutely in pristine condition as they are a result of a sale of two holiday cottages four star with no damage or marks on any furniture. Representing my estimated sale value to them of somewhere in the region of £2500 plus my gift aid on top of that. I had a second email five hours later telling me they couldn’t collect the furniture on either of my two selected dates but then telling me to book a week later. Unfortunately they were collecting one day before the completion of the house sales so I had no option I could not choose to have it collected a week later. I telephoned them to ask if they could possibly rearrange some of their collections after I explained what I had for them to collect and the lady said she would look into it. That’s now been five days and I’ve heard nothing back not even a text message. So I now intend to bring the furniture home and store it in my double garage. I I will slowly take it to our local furniture auctions and sell it and put the money in my pocket not theirs. I was willing to donate most of the furniture from both houses to them however after being treated like this and having my request accepted online and then declined later. I will not be making any donations of any shape or form to the British heart foundation . After reading many of the reviews on here it’s surprising that anyone donates to them. The vast majority of their reviews are abysmal. I will ask one or two of the small charities in the town where my holiday cottages are if they want the furniture these are charities that deal with pets and rescue animals. I’ve looked around the Bhf store close to where I live And the prices of some of the furniture and the quality is expensive and quality compared to what I was going to donate is awful . Their loss not mine.

We were very disappointed recently with BHF Wandsworth whom we had contacted to pick up a beautiful hardwood (Sheesham wood) bookshelf from our home. The initial contact was friendly and warm. A date was set up and the removal team arrived within the timeframe expected. From there it went all downhill. My son and I had already generously moved the furniture item down from our bedroom to the first landing so it could moved out expeditiously. On arrival the team, who spoke broken English, left the removal truck running in the middle of the one way street outside our home. I explained to them I had specifically blocked two spaces for them so they could park their van. They weren’t the least bit interested. They just wanted to see the furniture item in question. They took all of ten seconds looking at it, took one or two pictures and then rushed back down the stairs saying to me as they were leaving our house “can’t take this”. When I asked why they said, this has been repainted - which it clearly never was as this is an original Rosewood style hardwood in its natural color (was never painted when we bought it new). I can only suspect they saw a few “white paint marks” from where it had grazed the wall and used that as their excuse. They were not interested in taking it - they were probably running behind schedule, did not want to bother parking their van, maybe they felt the furniture was a bit heavy? In any event they concocted an excuse and were in and out within 2 minutes after my son and I had prepared everything to make it easy for them. To take the biscuit, when my wife called to complain about the service the customer rep just rabbited what the driver had clearly put on the system; when she then said she would pass the phone to me to discuss further, the Customer Rep hung up. Awful experience all round, never to be repeated again.
