We booked a collection to donate some items and were told they’d come on Monday. On Sunday we called to ask what time they’d arrive, and they said they’d check and let us know, but no one ever called back. Monday morning we called again and were told they couldn’t give us a time, so we ended up waiting the whole day. Finally, around 4pm the driver called saying they were outside. When they came, they checked everything using an app to decide if the items were acceptable ,and then rejected them. Honestly, why not give customers access to the same app so we can check in advance? It would save everyone’s time. Really disappointed, a complete waste of time.

Have donated twice now and would not do it again. Lots of moaning and negativity when collecting. One time sofa too big. Another time I took very expensive desk apart so it could be taken down the stairs. Wa in too may bits apparently. Don’t donate . It’s too much hassle

We booked a collection and were told it would be between 7am and 7pm, which is unacceptable in the first place. After waiting all day, nobody turned up. I immediately booked Sue Ryder online who not only gave me a time slot for collection, but told me the names of the guys who would be collecting. After complaining to BHF, the driver phoned to tell me he hadn't come as he had no room in his van!! Very poor organisation.

Where to begin? Booked online using their drop down list. Virtually a full house of stuff. Gave two preferred dates (I live 110 miles away and would have to get there by train) got phone call from their Erdington store saying they'd need to inspect it first. So I had to travel the night before the date agreed, as couldn't fix a time with them and they said it could be as early as 7.30am. Bloke who arrived didn't have the checklist, and could barely speak English. I started to put stickers on the items as we went round, but he said he'd have to refer his inspection to his manager so no point doing that. He couldn't say when the manager would be in touch. Was offhand and dismissive. Gave me a form to sign at the end and I could see so many errors on his handwritten list. He didn't explain the list to me either. About an hour later had a call talking about lists A and B. Seemingly the items in list A(about six) were the items they said they could sell, and all the rest on list B were apparently not sellable but they would take them away and dispose of at a cost to me of £941. List A had an as new pine dressing table on it but the guy had put the matching stool, mirror, chest of drawers, and beside drawer unit into list B. Utter madness. Wasted my time and my money and delayed what is a fairly urgent task. Of course I told them to forget it and have now engaged another charity who could not have been more helpful. I will never donate to or buy from BHF again. Emailed them and got no reply. Utterly gutted. This is my late mum's home, all good stuff for donation. No organisation, no compassion and no thanks. Ideally would give a no stars review.

I booked a collection of 2 armchairs with the Warrington shop. The armchairs were immaculate and had the necessary fire safety labels on. I had to take the day off work in order to accommodate there collection date. The drivers arrived and checked the condition of chairs and that they did comply with the requirements. They then contacted the shop who said they didn’t have space for them at the moment. Why book a collection of 2 armchairs but have no space to store them!! Absolutely ridiculous, and obviously my time off work to accommodate there collection is totally irrelevant to them. Do not donate to this charity. The staff do no appreciate your items, generosity or time. If I could put 0 stars to rate them I would.

BHF Glasgow Collection Review: Very unfriendly driver. No smile. Decidedly grumpy even before he stepped inside the house. Refused to take brand new training/fitness equipment even though it was on the list. I had already received a phone call two days before from someone saying that they would only take 2 bags/boxes (NB: containing all good quality, saleable items). BHF should make it clear on website and on online form if won't accept good quality/safe donations.

Dreadful service. Booked a collection 4 weeks ago. Had email day before confirming collection and a text message Rang to find out why they hadn’t turned up only to be told it should have been cancelled as they had a house clearance booked in which apparently had been booked weeks ago. Whole day off work wasted and could have sold sofas but wanted to support BHF . Never again .

I called the BHF giving a full description. Of a three seater sofa, chair and footstool, all in excellent condition and properly labelled. To accommodate the uplift, I stayed local. When tye driver turned up he photographed the sofa and sent it to the Hamilton project. Within 30 second I was informed they wouldn’t take it as sofas are not easy to sell. I won’t use the, again and would caution others.

Really disappointing service today. Arranged a collection of furniture from my home 6 days ago. Got messages updating my time slot 10 minutes before the time, and then again stating they will arrive shortly. The van pulled up outside my house, I opened my garden gates. No one got out of the van and then they drove off! I called the store who advised they will call me back in two minutes after discussing with the drivers… no further phone call received back and then not answering my further calls. I had waited in all morning for collection! Then I get an email stating unsuccessful collection. Disgusting service. I won’t be donating to BHF again

Rubbish! Never donating to BHF again. I completed an online form and numerous telephone calls for the drivers to refuse my dining table and 4 chairs on day of collection! Reason - they had too many in the shop! Why accept my online form and arrange a pick up for the drivers to refuse them! Totally unbelievable!

Can’t believe the quote we had to take the remaining furniture from our Dad’s house. £1,900! This was basically for a settee and 2 chairs, all in great condition with fire labels. a dining table and chairs, a couple of small tables, oak bookcase, pine wardrobe and 4 beds. Would never ask them again. Will use Sue Ryder instead who offer a free collection service for saleable items.

I offered a solid oak dresser to BHF, a beautiful piece of furniture, but this was declined as it was too big to put in the window! Undeterred and some weeks later I took 2 golf pull trolleys (both in excellent condition) into my local shop as a donation. These were also refused as “not sure we can accept them”!!! I conclude that unless you have books or clothes to offer, BHF are not interested. I went around the corner to SHELTER who were delighted to receive them. I won’t cross a BHF doorway again

Went into Whitby shop , wanted to buy a teapot . The lid was taped on so I took it off . The cello tape took some of the gold off , not a good start , when I looked into it it was wet and dirty. I asked if they would reduce it by 1.00 . Assistant got the manager, that’s where it all went wrong. She should sue the charm school she went to , honestly absolutely vile and frankly ambivalent. In what universe would you think it was acceptable to even put that on a shelf. She did not care she just said no that’s the price, that’s fine but anyone with any nouse would at least offer to clean it if they wanted full price?

Sent photos of 2 wardrobes. Gentleman who phoned, very quickly, was very helpful and assured me that they could be collected from an upstairs bedroom without any difficulty. He arranged a quick collection date. Told me collection between 7am and 2pm. 2 men arrived to collect them. Said they couldn't get them down the stairs. The same stairs the wardrobes had gone up in the first place! The man on the phone (Wolverhampton) was very good. The 2 men collecting gave me the impression they couldn't be bothered to do anything. I should have looked at the reviews beforehand and realised this was par for the course of what was going to happen. No wonder they could arrange a collection date so quickly, people have given up on them.

Too corporate business now, too fussy, wouldn’t take a valuable piece as too vintage. Very small percentage goes to the actual charity at best! No emphasis on recycling or helping lower income families! Rather see pieces go to the tip. Not impressed. Won’t donate again as I think it’s all a scam

I wanted to support the BHF so arranged collection of my children’s wardrobe. On arrival the 2 men were condescending and dismissive and said because the wardrobe was painted and there was a tiny scratch they couldn’t take it. I wouldn’t bother with this organisation!

Sent photos of chairs and wardrobe via email and they replied yes they are fine so collection arranged. On the day the collection people arrived and said no. I showed them the email with photos in which they said yes but they wouldn’t take them. I will never donate to them again
