I rang to donate 2 sofas. Gave dimensions, supplied pictures to confirm fire safety labels were attached. Was told they were unable to collect until today 2/3/26. As they would not have room beforehand. Fair enough, I delayed the delivery of my new sofas until tomorrow. When the drivers came one said he’d take the smaller one but not the 4 seater. He then went outside to check with the store and came back to say he wouldn’t take either as they didn’t have back cushions?? ( not missing- just not that style)They are both in excellent condition no rips, tears or stains. Both have washable removable covers which I cleaned in preparation. I am now left with 2 large sofas and 2 new ones due to arrive tomorrow!! No mention on the phone originally that they may be refused. They are not cheap shoddy sofas and I’m sure somebody would be very happy with them. I am absolutely disgusted that they can mess people round like that. Shame on you BHF.

The volunteers in Barnet need more training on friendly and polite customer service. I was made to feel guilty about refunding an item of clothing & a hair-clip! The volunteer said “I don’t really agree with refunding things in charity shops!” If BHF have issues with refunds or exchanges they need to change their policy. However, it clearly states they accept returns within 30 days! BHF need to be mindful that many customers are unemployed or on low-incomes.

I booked a collection with the British Heart Foundation Halifax branch for two large display cabinets. Prior to the collection, I sent photos of the items and was not informed of any issue regarding their colour or suitability. When the driver arrived, he refused to collect them, stating that the dark colour meant they “don’t sell.” This explanation is not acceptable. The items are in excellent condition, and colour alone should not be grounds for refusal—particularly after photographs had been provided and the collection had already been confirmed. It appeared to me that the driver simply did not want to take the cabinets, rather than there being a legitimate reason not to collect them. If there are specific criteria regarding acceptable items, these should be made clear at the time of booking—not upon arrival after confirmation. I would also like to raise that I visited the store a couple of weeks ago to donate items in person and was again met with refusal. On both occasions, I found the experience unnecessarily difficult and the staff discourteous. Donating items should not be such a hassle, particularly when donors are making the effort to support your charity. As a result of these repeated experiences, I will not be donating again. I also suggest you do some staff training on Grace and decorum

BHF Huddersfield ...and on the back of the last anonymous review left below, how hilarious to rebook my collection when I call your store and complain, have be drag everything outside, yet again, and then message me with the lame excuse that all my items were not fit for collection. I would advise anyone to avoid the BHF Huddersfield store at all costs. Appalling customer service.

BHF Huddersfield. I would give this rating a no stars if possible. I made a booking collection via the British Heart Foundation website, and confirmed the collection date. I specified at the time of making the booking that the items would be at the rear of the property and that the BACK door was the only working door. I received a confirmation email and SMS text message from the BHF confirming that my collection the day the actual collection was due. I rang BHF Huddersfield to reiterate to them that the only working door to the property was at the rear of the property. They reassured me that this information would be relayed to the driver 'Tom'. I arose at 05:00 this morning to drag the dining table chairs, steam, stick vac and a load of other things outside. The weather was poor so I used all my bin bags to wrap the items. I received a SMS informing me that my items would be collected by 11:15. I waited in patiently. 12:15 I rang the BHF Hudds, only to be told that the driver had 'been to the front door and gone'. No one even bothered to knock. This is not not the first time this nonsense has happened. No I have to drag the lot back into my property because I live in an undesirable area and the items will probably be scattered, stolen or damaged. will not be using this nonsensical service again in future. Will take items to the tip instead. Appalling.

I visited BHF Cathedral retail park Wakefield I asked the assistant at the till for some information a woman who works there I think she’s the manager she’s the one who used crutches shouts over and speaks over the assistant when I asked the price for the sofa the assistant said £310 then the rude manager shouts over and speaks over the assistant again the price will go up when tested. I understand it’s a charity but over charging 😂😂 and the manager needs to learn some manners and not shout and speak over people

I went into the Lancaster branch last week and also today and was very pleased by the visual of the store, it was very tidy and merchandised to an excellent standard very seasonal and inviting. The donated stock was good quality and of a good price. The shop displays were of high street value and looked amazing. I found lots of interesting things to buy. Please keep up the great work for this charity.

Chelmsford BHF. We are very sorry to report that the 2 collectors who came this morning refused to take our donations of a good condition dark wood cocktail unit. One asked if item was in the garage, we said No, it is in the house downstairs. He barely looked at the unit and said rudely “Can’t take that, dark wood, told not to, haven’t taken dark wood in 2 years (Yet there is plenty in store) Needless to say we became upset and phoned the store). Staff member was sympathetic and said collectors make the decision and it isn’t true that they don’t accept Chelmsford store don’t accept dark woods. I have visited the store several times lately as we need to downsize, and was assured after showing photos that the unit would be collected, especially as they have similar items of size and colour on sale. Fortunately we spoke to staff member Paul who said there were communication problems in that dark woods in good condition are accepted. He suggested we try to deliver the unit ourselves and it would be accepted. Thank you Paul. Such a disappointing experience today because we have supported BHF for many years. Very sorry for this review.

Went with some newly recognized refugees into Romford Store today. Lisa was exceptional with her advice and patience as we grappled with language and all the issues surrounding their needs. Thank you.

Sophie attended to give quote - she was lovely. We accepted the quote, paid and booked the clearance for 12/9/25 We used your service as as we live 4 and a half hours away, wanted simple solution to the house clearance and also for the charity to be able to sell on the saleable items. We drove up ridiculously early to be there on time for the clearance which we were told would start at 0900. On the day- Staff arrived 0800. This had been changed by BHF initially from 0900 to 0830 to 0800. First question was "do you have any tools?". Given they knew 2 beds, dresser and dining table needed to be disassembled that was very poor. I found some in the house and they eventually found an IKEA flat pack assembly toolkit on their van which they struggled with. We paid for wrap/pack of glassware/ornaments/pictures/ mirrors. They had absolutely NO packing materials with them. My friend and I packed it using our own materials which I handily still had in my car. We wrapped and packed all the breakables- not them. They refused to take 1 mattress as they apparently found 1 bed bug. I was VERY surprised at this, no bed bug history there and the property had been totally empty for 6 weeks so it survived a long time without 'food'. We weren't shown the bug on the mattress, just a photo on their phone later, which was a close up of a bug. I understand the policy and have happily arranged for the mattress disposal elsewhere. I remain highly sceptical as it was 1 bug, no one had been in the property for a long time and we have since checked the mattress thoroughly, we found no bugs and no evidence (blood spots) of them. Perhaps they should be told to show the client the bug 'in situ'. Whilst the house is now clear, It wasn't the service we paid for. I could not recommend this service to anyone based on the service on the day. I hope this feedback is of use to ensure your staff carry tools and packing materials where the quote is based on that service being required and paid for.

The BHF charity shop at Crawley,is full of good quality furniture,at bargain prices All items are clean and have been inspected, before they make it onto the shop floor. And the staff are amazing, they work so hard moving and changing the stock,so it is always exciting visiting the crawley store. Thank you Everyone

What didn't go wrong. Spent ages detailing what I was donating and checking it complied. Also had 4 bags of smaller items. When they phoned to book the date the woman was very abrupt & unhelpful and said they wouldn't take any bags or any of the other individual items I'd listed - no reason given. Two guys turned up on the agreed date and spent two minutes finding reasons not to take the stuff that had been agreed. The Snug sofa bed that's never been used as a sofa - they said the cushions were faded. The cushions have been stored in a cupboard, it's only ever been used as an occasional bed. The cushions have a pile that can look a lighter shade depending which way you brush it. They refused to take an Ikea bookcase still in the box and Ikea DVD shelving saying they couldn't take things that needed to be screwed to a wall. THEN SAY SO ON THE WEBSITE! Honestly so upset and angry. What a waste of everyone's time and energy. Blood pressure through the roof - well done British HEART Foundation.

Absolutely dreadful experience. I described in detail that it was a large dining table and 6 chairs. I rang and confirmed the day before. I waited at home all morning. Two extremely rude men came in and said the table was too large. I said it can be made smaller. They just point blank refused to take. I won’t be using BHF again, I’ll just put it on my street WhatsApp group and give it away for free rather than trying to help a charity !

We booked a collection to donate some items and were told they’d come on Monday. On Sunday we called to ask what time they’d arrive, and they said they’d check and let us know, but no one ever called back. Monday morning we called again and were told they couldn’t give us a time, so we ended up waiting the whole day. Finally, around 4pm the driver called saying they were outside. When they came, they checked everything using an app to decide if the items were acceptable ,and then rejected them. Honestly, why not give customers access to the same app so we can check in advance? It would save everyone’s time. Really disappointed, a complete waste of time.

Have donated twice now and would not do it again. Lots of moaning and negativity when collecting. One time sofa too big. Another time I took very expensive desk apart so it could be taken down the stairs. Wa in too may bits apparently. Don’t donate . It’s too much hassle

We booked a collection and were told it would be between 7am and 7pm, which is unacceptable in the first place. After waiting all day, nobody turned up. I immediately booked Sue Ryder online who not only gave me a time slot for collection, but told me the names of the guys who would be collecting. After complaining to BHF, the driver phoned to tell me he hadn't come as he had no room in his van!! Very poor organisation.

Where to begin? Booked online using their drop down list. Virtually a full house of stuff. Gave two preferred dates (I live 110 miles away and would have to get there by train) got phone call from their Erdington store saying they'd need to inspect it first. So I had to travel the night before the date agreed, as couldn't fix a time with them and they said it could be as early as 7.30am. Bloke who arrived didn't have the checklist, and could barely speak English. I started to put stickers on the items as we went round, but he said he'd have to refer his inspection to his manager so no point doing that. He couldn't say when the manager would be in touch. Was offhand and dismissive. Gave me a form to sign at the end and I could see so many errors on his handwritten list. He didn't explain the list to me either. About an hour later had a call talking about lists A and B. Seemingly the items in list A(about six) were the items they said they could sell, and all the rest on list B were apparently not sellable but they would take them away and dispose of at a cost to me of £941. List A had an as new pine dressing table on it but the guy had put the matching stool, mirror, chest of drawers, and beside drawer unit into list B. Utter madness. Wasted my time and my money and delayed what is a fairly urgent task. Of course I told them to forget it and have now engaged another charity who could not have been more helpful. I will never donate to or buy from BHF again. Emailed them and got no reply. Utterly gutted. This is my late mum's home, all good stuff for donation. No organisation, no compassion and no thanks. Ideally would give a no stars review.
