I bought a mattress for £120 and was charged £38 for delivery to my home which is only 7 miles from the shop. I have donated numerous items in the past and was going to donate my existing mattress which is in good condition. But now I have decided to sell it instead and my not donate in future. The BHF website states £3.99 for goods up to £40 and free delivery over £40.

They seem to pick and choose what they want to collect when they arrive to collect items. There was nothing wrong with the item apart from a very minor issue. Would have been fine for someone to have. Muttering pathetic unconvincing excuses as to why couldn't take it. Complete waste of time! Stayed in for nothing. Go elsewhere!!! Try Furniture Now - they are much more helpful and do actually want items!!

When your spending over £100, delivery should be free . There reason, they have to pay drivers etc. But they don't charge you for collecting. How does that work then ? It's the same drivers, volunteers. Of course they need paying. The charity should pay them. And people are on very low incomes. I went to buy a suite, a few weeks ago. Which was around £100. But delivery was around £45. They should charge delivery in the price. Not add to it. I left, and went some went somewhere else. I thought it was supposed to be a charity. They get everything free. I'll not go there again. 🤨

A perfect double size mattress is going to waste, because their driver did not want to carry it (with my help) to a 2 minute distance. I bet the even had a trolley too. They don't give a damn about charity. Wasting our time to wait for them for almost a week.

I followed all written procedures and protocol for readiness for furniture collection. I scheduled for collection the day before I was to leave the country. They collected all the items except the bed as it had some yellow stains, I did not read that on the website as a no go. I was left at the last minute to dispose of a bed. Plus one of the movers was extremely rude and abrupt. Avoid if you can. I will.

I used to volunteer at the Deal branch. Was okay to a point, but some staff were cliquey, self-righteous, narcissistic and would gossip about others. For example, when I first arrived at the shop I heard they were doing a charity fashion show, then they automatically gave me a job I did not want which was collecting donations (I'm so glad I refused the task). I felt as though some staff and volunteers were spreading rumours about me (of a rather innapropriate nature). I felt as though I was judged when I've done a lot in my life. There were also lovely volunteers who felt ostracised and as though they were being watched constantly.

Donated a number of items including a perfect three piece suite, fridge and washing machine. Collectors were rude, abrupt and surly. I opened the door to be immediately told they would only take items in saleable condition, then that the wouldn't take a dining table if it wasnt dismantled, and they wouldn't do it. Carless removing items, banging and crashing around. Wish I hadn't bothered, won't be bothering again

My friend returned some items for myself to the Middlesbrough branch Which I had bought at the bishop Auckland branch They were far too big .when I tried them on. at home I buy nearly all my clothes from charity shops as I am a big girl So it's nice that I can return them for a refund if they dont fit My friend has refused to take anything back for me to Middlesbrough ,as the lady was not very pleasant I think she was the managers ,dark haired with glasses She wanted to know why I wasn't bringing it back Saying I got around a bit .because it was not Middlesbrough Also because ,there's not a lot of cash in the till also some trousers she returned she said they wouldn't sell them at their shop It was like a Spanish inquisition she said I do Get around a bit as I go to different hospitals for different appointments. And always try and have A look in whatever's charity shop is about So I think .terrible customer service .with that attitude

I bid on ebay for a sewing machine. I was very excited and happy when I won! When it arrived it absolutely stank of smoking which had not been mentioned on the website. I was totally prepared to put that aside, but then I tried to operate the machine; total nightmare! Nearly everything that could be broken WAS broken. I received a full refund as when the BHF saw my photos they 100% agreed. My point is; the British Heart Foundation is a respected charity and needs to ensure their sellers get it right

Booked collection of Gplan dressing table. Was booked 7 days in advance. Spoke with driver day before to confirm time. When the 2 guys arrived they said they wouldn't take it because it wouldn't sell. I had an anxiety attack because I didn't realise they could reject items (i feel like more questions about the condition of the items would help with this) and then they took it anyway! Probably just to get away from me as fast as possible, but it was collected and that's all that matters

I had arranged for Heart Foundation to pick up several items including a bed frame and mattress . One of the guys came in and said due to a bit of dust on the mattress they could not take it! It was a john Lewis sprung mattress which had no stains and was only a couple of years old. I could not believe the attitude of the person. It was very emotional for me as it was my late sisters flat who had passed away under tragic circumstances. It seemed to me that they would have only taken it if was brand new which obviously wasn't. I was disgusted with his attitude and would not recommend using BHF again as the attitude was we are doing you a favour not the other way round.

Called my local branch in King's Lynn to collect a 2 seater leather sofa more than 2 months ago. I can tell you that I will never donate to a charity again, especially this one. One of the drivers who came was rude and gave the impression he didn't want to be there, he was also very unpleasant to his work colleague. They processed to remove the sofa and in doing so they scuffed my banister and all down the stairs walls they also knocked the radiator off the wall. I contacted the shop and they sent out their manager who said that they would buy me some new paint to repaint it, bearing in mind I had just moved on and hadn't long decorated. I told them that it was their responsibility to rectify the damage. After a few weeks of calls they then decided that it was up to the delivery company that work for them to sort it out. So in essence, its was down to me to deal with it. To cut a long story short, after several times of being let down by the delivery company boss and his so called painter and decorator, after nearly 3 months of the initial damage I've ended up rectifying it myself. Never, ever again.

Your managers need to have clear guidelines that state donations of clothes and brick a brace if the person giving the donation is disabled and can’t drive or elderly.Peoplw want to be as independant and Charitable. You need to be more charitable in all stores and accept this. A person with a heart condition may be able to live independently but not be able to deliver such items themselves, friends and family usually work in the day time. Although your store staff are very helpful.

Feel a little disappointed that I've "booked" two collections, but had no follow-up or confirmation. Now "booked" third collection about three weeks ago and to date, no follow-up or confirmation. BHF usually very prompt with confirming and collecting. If BHF are not ready for collections, then please don't advertise that an area is ready for collections to be made. I've had bags packed, labelled and ready to go in my hallway for a couple of months now. BHF my charity of choice and have donated over many years, but may have to re-evaluate. I appreciate BHF may be overwhelmed with donations, but an acknowledgement of some sort, goes a long way. The emails requesting donations/support are still flooding my inbox.

Great that they collect for free for charity but when you fill in the form don’t think it’s a guaranteed collection as guys from the Bristol branch turned up today to collect a coffee table and sideboard (generally sideboards are big and bulky) They took the coffee table but said they couldn’t take the sideboard as it’s too heavy to take downstairs, even though the person who booked it in knew it was heavy as that’s what I told them. I won’t use them again, better off selling it on gumtree. It’s caused me to have to get rid of a large piece of furniture in under a week.

Bought a bed from the Camberley branch and the shop staff were helpful but then it went wrong. I was told I would be called 30 minutes prior to arrival but wasn't, the delivery staff turned up and walked mud into my house, they refused to dismantle the bed and said insurance would not allow them too. I needed two have a bed for my myself and small some and spent four hours dismantling to get up the stairs and put together again. I was charged £20 for delivery and yet the service was shocking. The store, when I phoned, was very unhelpful. I shall never use again and considering as they are a charity, you'd think they would be far better at looking after those buying and donating.

I wanted to donate a leather sofa. I filled in the online form which promised that someone would get back to me within three working days. A week later, I was contacted. They couldn't organise collection for another week. So, two weeks later, two men turned up. Complained that the stitching on the sofa had a tiny tear (about 1cm) and that this meant they couldn't take it. The sofa was worth at least £60 (I paid £140 for it four years ago) which could have been used to help fund research into heart disease. The BHF have absurdly high standards for the condition of goods they will accept. They also wasted my time and threw away an opportunity to raise valuable funds.

Ridiculous prices of some of their own items, especially electrical. I mean, come on folks, a Sky+ sat box for £30? Selling on Ebay for average £5. I am speaking about the old white box. Even the newer black +hd boxes sell for average £15 on Ebay. I know it is a charity but one also has to be sensible and fair.
