“Very slow delivery and no response to emails”

“I was pleased with the service. I ordered a book and it took only 2 extra weeks to arrive from UK (I had been advised that would take longer)to Australia. Considering our international borders have been shut for nearly 18months and airline traffic is a trickle I thought that was pretty good! (It's taken just as long to receive something from Australia itself during this pandemic!!!) It was also packaged well. PS: Love the vintage edition bookmark, thank you!”

“I'm very confused seing so many bad reviews here. I'm an international buyer and have purchased 4-5 separate times from this website and each order arrived in ±2 weeks. Reading these reviews makes me think I got lucky each time and now I'm hesitant to buy again. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because they dont really package books that well so they may come with a couple of scratches. I did email them yesterday regarding an order that came in a little damaged so I guess I'll see what their customer service is like, but like I said, there was no problem up untill now and I actually planned on buying more from them.”

“Appalling service. Quoted up to 15 days delivery. Took my money and received one email saying order received and processing. No delivery and no communication since. The website is always down and email is a no reply. Looks like I have been dudded.”

“Appalling service. I ordered a book on 21st Sept, confirmation came through on email, and then nothing. No order updates, no dispatch notice, no booked delivery slot, nothing. After a few days, reached out on email (no phone number provided) and had to wait for 3 days before a tame response apologising as they had tech issues. Waited again, still no update, emailed again on 30th, still no response. Clearly happy to take the money but not send the goods and unable to contact anyone to resolve. I've now got to try to cancel the order and get my money back. Like I say, absolutely appalling service. Recommend you DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.”

“False advertising, the book I bought was explicitly stated as 1st Edition, January 1990 The book I received on the other hand was from at least 2 decades later, with references to ebooks and the death of the author in the opening pages.”

“Like so many of the other reviews my order never arrived, no way of contacting the business apart from by email which gets a reply saying case closed and solved. This business has no concern for either their customers or their businesses name. I seriously wonder how they are still in business. I hope for anyone reading this review they are doing so before buying from this company and not after making a purchase that never arrives. Shame there’s no option for 0 stars. I seriously suspect all the 5 star reviews like this company is a scam, Buyer beware,”

“Seriously don't know how these guys are still operating. They don't actually send the book for overseas deliveries and if you write to them to request an update or refund, they just close the case. Do yourself a favour and don't take the risk.”

“I never write reviews but I felt compelled to write one after reading all of the negative reviews. This was my first time ordering from Blackwell’s. I live in the heart of the USA and decided to purchase the cheaper international edition textbooks this year. After my purchase, I read the negative reviews of shipping delays and poor customer service, almost driving me to cancel my order. But I continued, even after my credit card company alerted me that my purchase was possibly fraudulent. I am so glad I gave them a chance! Shipping was much faster than I anticipated, actually received my order within a week of ordering - which is faster than most of the shipping services stateside. Book was brand new, as described, and packing was sufficient - plus the price was cheaper than the rest. I literally have zero complaints and wouldn’t hesitate to purchase from Blackwell‘s again!”

“I received my merchandise in mint condition in about 20 business days. I did receive a response from customer service with an accurate tracking number for my book. I admit it's frustrating not being able to reach a person when your order is running late.”

“First time ordering through Blackwells and I'm still waiting for an order I placed and paid for 6 weeks ago. Can't track the order on the online tracker and they don't reply to emails and are hard to contact. Really disappointed. Reordering the book as it's a now very belated gift through Book Depository.”

“JUST ORDER FROM AMAZON !! Order of 1 book dispatched 9 days ago, still haven't received the delivery. Customer service is terrible and just push the blame to Hermes, my money was paid to Blackwells not Hermes, sort yourselves out, joke of a company.”

“Very slow to dispatch and several days to receive using some cheap service called whistl combined with the worst courier service which is hermes, Item arrived with the clingfilm on book ripped in several areas and part of the foil on the outer scuffed, seems to be no easy returns process either. I don't want to support amazon but i will also refrain from supporting blackwells in the future”

“I tried to cancel an order the day I submitted it. Now I find it’s in the post and the money debited from my account. No activity has shown up on the Blackwells My Account. Website is impossible to use and no telephone contact is accessible. How do I return an unopened, unwanted package?”
