Great Course Really enjoyed it .

I thought the course was age related, spending over 7 hrs with an 8 yr old who has a hard time reading all the questions some adults don’t understand, would’ve been more fair for younger age person a more detailed drawing or easier to understand questions which have the same learning results.

I felt that it dwelt on certain aspects a bit too much. For instance, most people know it’s illegal to drink and operate a boat. I would have enjoyed it more if I was able to breeze through the segments at my own pace rather than having to wait. Also, I think it’s more important to let people know which questions they got wrong so they are going on the water with 100% Knowledge rather than 86%

With the final test results I would at least give a summary on items to work on with the questions that were wrong. Without giving away the answers just areas to improve on for the next time you do it.

The information and videos provided were useful, thorough and clearly presented. The timing on many segments, however, was very frustrating. On numerous lessons, I was finished viewing the video, but could not progress onto the next lesson because the timer was not finished.

The course pace is unbearably slow, I could finish reading the material on each section well before I was allowed to continue learning. I would not recommend.

The course is very informative, offers different learning options (reading, listening, visualizing) but is extremely long. The final test was difficult, as it had some random questions, instead of being based on the most important things to know. It should be divided into modules, so we can refer back to the manual (if we have one). If not, there should be a way to go back to the online modules to review content. Finally, when answering each module quiz, we should be told which answers were wrong in order to learn from our mistakes. As for recommending Boatsmart, it’s not a choice so the question isn’t pertinent.

I think it's awesome how BOATsmart! has several different ways for one to retain the information - through listening, visuals and video, or reading. Very helpful and memorable!

The program and learning portion would be better served if you were made aware of the correct answers for any questions you answered incorrectly. You are only notified of the number either correct or not, with no way of knowing what was wrong.

Very good, easy to understand course. I like that there is an option to view the videos or just read the info below, as I prefer reading to video when learning.

Too much repetition, modules are too long, it shouldnt take so long to complete the course. And some material is not necessary for the common boater to know.

For someone that just wants to operate a 14' fishing boat with a small outboard there is FAR TOO much information and regulations to learn and use. The program should be split up into two sections based on vessel size and use.

Excellent process in which the important information was stressed. I learned a lot and knew I was well prepared for the test. Many thanks

It's good that boaters are familiar with all the information your course provides. Having onboard a study guide for reference with ready checklists should be mandatory. As a commercial pilot, I cannot overemphasize the value of checklists. However, for practical purposes, with your current study format, the student suffers from information overload and the sample test questions are occasionally irrelevant. Eg; Is it important for the boater to know under which body of law [criminal code or some other] he/she is to be charged or simply that an act is illegal. Or, what the first sign of "cold water shock" is ["deep and sudden gasp etc.] rather than the clinical term for this symptom [cold shock]. Wrong answers should be identified to ensure future compliance. With this in mind, your training should be simplified and test questions should concentrate on what the immediate action should be taken to avoid catastrophe rather than identifying the nomenclature of such maladies and their subsequent phases. Non essential information should italicized or placed in an addendum. An online source to download and print checklists for individual crafts may prove an complementary aid to waterway safety.
