“It would be great if you would consider pointing out which specific questions were wrong when you send out the score. That would be a helpful learning tool. Also, would it be possible to add a feature where a person could just try writing the final test without having to go through the entire course? In my case, I poured over the Boatsmart book thinking I could then just write the final test. Perhaps, offer if someone wants to try it and gets more than 94% you could accept that.”

“It was a course that was presented well and easy to follow and understand. At times it was difficult to concentrate and focus on the information, but if stopped and taking a break, was not a problem to jump back into. Well done”

“Excellent visual self paced software program. Concerns / recommendations: It would be nice if one could avoid waiting for the countdown clock as some areas/ topics may be well known by the participant. For the module tests I would have liked the option of knowing which questions I answered incorrectly so that I could further study the particular areas. Similarly, for the final exam I would have liked the option of proceeding with the the questions for which I was certain of the answers and then go back and allocate more time to the remaining. I think, too, that most participants would like the opportunity to "double check" answers for the entire test before submitting for evaluation.”

“I was mislead by sales folks at a recent show. I was told that if I purchased the pre-paid access card I could take the test on line. I was also pushed in to buying the guide. I studied the guide and then found out I had to sit through 3 hours of my life studying the same materials as found in the guide to take the on line test. Absolute bull.”

Hi Robert, Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a review. Looks like there may have been some miscommunication with our team at the boat show. Sorry the Transport Canada guidelines weren't clearly presented when you purchased, but glad to have you aboard as a certified Smart boater!

Hi Nathan, Thanks for leaving feedback. The mandated timers can be frustrating for some, but we definitely find that most customers find it more convenient than hours or days in a classroom learning setting. Glad you were able to pass your test, and look forward to seeing you on the water this summer!

“I would like to say BoatSmart was very helpful when I did the exam. I had a few computer glitches and they quickly got me back on track again to successfully complete the exam. Taking the exam was a learning experience that everyone needs, to be safe on the water.”

“The only issue with the on-line course, is that the timer in the bottow right hand side didn't always correspond with your actual time listening to the videos so sometimes you were waiting for the timer to run down.”

“There are some spelling errors within the text of the course. These can be disconcerting while doing the the review questions. This course represents the Government of Canada. It seems shoddy and creates a lacklustre image of the course and the country.”

“It took me 6 hours to go through the modules and complete the test. There was a lot of information. It would be good to let people know how long it will take them to complete the course.”
