“Would like to have seen the questions I got wrong on the practice quiz to see what I had to read again. But I did okay anyway.”

Hi Lorraine - thanks for the feedback. Since there are a finite number of test questions and the test is open book and unsupervised - Transport Canada and NASBLA regulate that the answers not be shown. This is one of the check and balances put into place to maintain the integrity of online testing. As boaters too, we understand the feedback and are working with regulators to try and improve the process within the confines of online testing. Thanks for sticking with it and safe boating!

“Content was well laid out. I liked the option of audio, visuals and reading simultaneously....it leads to better retention of the material, at least for me. I found the Boatsmart questions more challenging than the Transport Canada ones, which was also a good thing in the end.”

“Repetitive modules, min time thresholds that force you to wait even longer than the duration of the videos, content that is irrelevant to anyone other than someone trying to circumnavigate the globe in international shipping lanes, incomplete coverage of material compared to final exam were all annoying aspects, but the worst part is they don't tell you what you got wrong, so there is no actual mechanism for learning and improvement.”

“Great visuals, easy enough to get through. Was it fun? No, but it's not supposed to be. Spend a couple of hours and you'll have your license for life. I did the modules in about 4 hours.”

“It took me a while to finally complete this course ( I really do not like on-line courses), but I have to say that this one was extremely thorough with more than enough guidelines, notes, and videos to help with the process. I would highly recommend purchasing the study guide as well, as it reinforces the content of the videos.”

“Very informed of course. A little too long for what I needed it for. I felt at the end of each module and you took a quiz and passed it that should have been enough and no final exam was necessary”

“Lesson modules are clear and concise. Videos are included with most lessons. I am not allowed to include comments regarding mandatory timed lessons or inability to show incorrect quiz answers but if I were I would say these two points are poor but out of the control of the boatsmart course providers.”
