“The quizzes are way too difficult. I found them to be way harder than the actual exam. For example, I failed multiple quizzes but got 94% on the first try at the exam.”

“My only complaints are a) how long and, honestly, boring, the lessons are and b) I'm not sure if it's my computer or not but the videos automatically restart instead of stopping when they're done and it's very, very annoying. I would have much preferred to click replay myself if I needed to rewatch the video.”

“The course was extremely easy to get through. The videos were great and very interesting, I didn't feel bored once throughout the whole course. I love how engaging the experience was. I definitely would recommend BOATsmart! to anyone looking to get their license and get out on the lake!”

“This is a very good way to cover the material necessary to obtain your boating license. It was very easy and the quiz approach is very good. It would be even better if (i) incorrect answers in each quiz were identified and the corrected answers provided - what a teaching opportunity!!; (ii) the materials should be available for download so that the user has reference material to review in the future; and (iii) although not many, there were a couple of questions on the test that were not covered in the materials.”

“It was with some in trepidation that I attempted this after reading what I could online on the Simply Sailing website. I should not have worried! The subjects are dealt with logically with emphasis on the intelligent aspects, mainly safety and wearing a PFD. I was thrilled to score well and feel that I have educated myself in my advanced years. Thank you to BoatSmart.”

Thanks for your review. We understand there is a lot to learn in the course, but that's because there is so much to ensure you are a safe boater. We constantly review our course materials to ensure they are up-to-date and meeting student needs. Our content is required by Transport Canada and is consistent across all providers. We find that many students prefer the convenience of completing the course online, rather than at an in-person course, which can take a minimum of 8 hours. Thanks for sticking with it. Safe boating!

“To me it was a awesome way to learn about boating rules and all that and at the same time get a license. One thing I would suggest though is that if u fail a quiz it should tell you what answers you got wrong so that you can go back and review only those topics. The videos are a very good idea. -Alex”

“Excellent course. The only suggestion I would have is to show the questions you get wrong so you can study that in more depth. Being able to follow along reading and listening at the same time was a great help to my study needs . Would recommend this course to everyone. Regards Carol”
