The study material was so informative, l believe that every Canadian should be familiar with the containt of the test, to be familiar with the safety precautions.

The BoatSmart course has great potential, but because the length assigned to each video did not always match the time the video took the play, the process was more time consuming then it needed to be (for example, some videos were only supposed to be 30 seconds, but would loop for 45 or more). This happened several times. Also, while the end of section quizzes were helpful, they were much easier than the Government of Canada test, which made me feel ill-prepared once that begin. I was lucky enough to pass the first time but would have preferred for test quizzes to match the nature of the final exam.

Thorough with content and "forces" you to digest information before proceeding to each next stage thus ensuring you've understood it, however quite slow, repetitive and very time consuming.

There were several problems with both the course materials and the test. - not enough time dedicated to bouys and navigation -meanwhile fire extinguisherswhere covered in three places Not enough time dedicated to rules of the road and descriptions were vague. "As the give way vessel you can pass the stand to vessel to either side but preferably to starboard". Whose starboard? Theirs or mine? - safety items should have been grouped together instead of spread out over multiple sections -info about flares was inconsistent in the instructional material If I didn't have prior experience I would not have passed.

Very easy to navigate from module to quiz. The saved information was always correct and I enjoyed the audible on/off function depending on my environment. Thank you BOATsmart!!

Overall a good program, but could use some work on the layout. The fine or faint text font is hard to read for hours on end, I would suggest a bold font instead, as well as arranging the information on each page so that it can be viewed at once, rather than having to scroll down the page unnecessarily. In several places the information could be fleshed out more, as an example the idea of going upstream or downstream and how this applies in tidal areas is not clear. Also I found some test questions were asked when the information wasn't presented until the next module.

Lots of information, very easy to follow and learn. Self paced format is great for completing the course and exam in spare time and without any pressure!

Information provided was clear and to the point. Easley understood. It seemed that some questions in the final test were not covered in training course??? I passed in first attempt so overall good experience here.

It would be good to know what questions you got wrong while doing the module and the final test. The study guide (paper version) should be included with the price.

Took way to long !!! Took me 7 hours. I wish we could see what questions we get wrong !! Instead of having to redo the whole module.now I took the time to make 14 pages of notes.i did learn a lot .

In order to improve my boating knowledge it would help a great deal to have access to the question that I answered incorrectly. Now I don't know what I don't know and I am interested to find out.

As someone who was involved in powerboating growing up I had some boating knowledge however I was not prepared for the vast amount of knowledge the people at boatsmart shared with me . I was very impressed with your course and how it was delivered. Thankyou fr helping my wife and I head toward some safe boating with the knowledge we ned to carry that out Richard Martin

I have been cruising medium-sized sailboats for 35 years. Noticed several minor errors, mainly overgeneralization in small power-boat operations. However my major beef is that while I could have challenged the exam (but learned one thing: *16/#16 for emergency on cell phone), the timers on each page were very cumbersome. They made me waste time/multi-task to minimize wasted time. Get rid of them I also didn't like that while I was given a grade on the unit tests, I wasn't shown where any errors were so that I could review material. Didn't really matter as I scored (as expected) 96% in less than 15 minutes, but that's really bad instructional design.

Thanks for the review Walter. We understand the timers can be frustrating for quick readers, but they are required by Transport Canada (or NASBLA) to ensure all students take the time to truly read and understand the information. All course providers have the same time requirements.

I found it to be well laid out and easy to follow thank you

The material moved at a glacial pace and was mostly repetitive and trivial. The final exam had questions about material that wasn't even covered in the course. Obviously written by a separate agency.

Easy to use and start and stop the training. I would recommend it to others - especially since I passed the first tine!
