“Glad people are taking this test, covers so many things that we see incorrectly done on the water, also a good refresher course for seasoned boaters, even though I didn’t need the card for a few years and carry a CG license it was worth the time to take.”

“Overall, the BOATsmart tutorial was very comprehensive. The modules were well organized and presented with chart and videoclips. It was a very convenient way to learn at my own pace. Note: If a video doesn't load properly, refreshing your page should take care of it.”

“That was way too long and slow. I will not be using my boat in the ocean, so much of the course was un-needed information. There should be a fresh water course that caters to Canadian lakes only. I found the final test also asked questions that were worded completely different in the modules, leaving lots of guessing for answers. Glad I will never have to take this again!”

“I had the guide as well so it was easy to follow along with. You can watch the videos, just listen and read along on the screen or just read along. Lots of options. Learned alot of new things.”

“I purchased the package for four. Upon completion I was having some concerns with how to receive certificate and additional fees. Called BOATsmart talked to Alex, she is extremely helpful and pleasant to talk to. I would recommend BOATsmart to anyone that has new young boaters coming of age. As well as guys over fifty like myself. Thanks, Darin”

“the information I learned is valuable & wish I had taken this many, many years ago, however it did not exist at that time. The study guide is very important, and should be incorporated into the course cost, so everyone receives it. It is a good reference, as no one is going to remember all the info provided during the course, however as a reference book, it can be on board the pleasure craft if needed.”

“Nice to be able to do this in a few hours from home, but the timers on the info pages are terribly restrictive . Often a page with only a few lines of text would come up, it'd take only a few seconds to read it, but the timer would insist I wait another 50 seconds before it would allow me to view the next page.”

Hi Kevan - thanks for taking time to leave a review. We understand the test can take awhile for some students, but the timer requirements are required by Transport Canada and NASBLA to ensure all students are able to fully understand all content. The timed requirements are the same across all course providers, and we find many students prefer the convenience of completing the course from the comfort of home, rather than in a classroom setting. Thanks for sticking with it, and safe boating!

“There was helpful info in the course but it made me stay on the page for far too long wasting my time after I had already read the material. Perhaps the idea is to have a person forced to spend a certain number of hours on the course but it was so frustrating I just emailed people while I waited for it to time out. My time is precious and I could have been done in half the time.”

“The lessons in each module were very thorough. Module 6 Markers & Buoy was detailed and informative. I like that you can take your time learning each module. The time limit on the final examination was more than enough. The audio and visuals were excellent but reading the lessons were faster.”

“Being able to do this at home at your own pace makes this course easy to use. Having the option to watch and hear the information or read and look at pictures also allows you to decide what is best for you. I was able to complete this course by taking very few notes and was satisfied with the final results! Thanks BOATsmart! for helping me get my pleasure craft license. Ernie”
