The overall course takes a lot longer than expected. I had to spread it out over a few days in order to stay interested. In the end I scored 96% and received my license, so mission accomplished.

Since I did it in french, some picture did not show the french words or the picture was not available for clicking (ex: module 6, page 11). In general, some picture were to small to see the details.

did teach a lot but very boring at times, if you could have speedup some of the timed viewing material , it would have helped

Overall the course was great. I found some of the commercial boating, river and ocean portions irrelevant as I live in the midwest. I took it to increase my knowledge and did challenge myself.

The course was very informative, and was easy to follow. My only complaint is that I found it extremely frustrating that you had to wait out the mandatory time limit before proceeding to the next page. I am a very fast reader and more often than not I would be done reading the page long before the time minimum was up. This kind of wasted my time, since I would spend a good thirty seconds to a minute sitting there waiting for the next page to be available. Overall the course was great.

Some times don't match the lesson video length. I have a book so it would have been nice to challenge the quiz right away instead of having to go through the entire module I had already read.

Hi Jayson, We understand the timers can be frustrating for quick readers, but they are required by Transport Canada (or NASBLA) to ensure all students take the time to truly read and understand the information. All course providers have the same time requirements.

Really...Almost 6 hours to complete the course. That's a little much. Other than that it was good

Very informative, having to repeat every lesson in the module if you failed the quiz was irritating. What I mean having to wait the recommended time even though you have that particular lesson memorized, but other than that I enjoyed the course for the most part. If it could be changed in any way I would recommend removing the wait period for each lesson after you've gone through it the first time and failed the quiz. I think it should be made in such a way that you can skip directly to the lessons you in particular you know you struggled with.

The quizzes are way too difficult. I found them to be way harder than the actual exam. For example, I failed multiple quizzes but got 94% on the first try at the exam.

It was a great informative course. I would have liked to see the questions that were wrong and the correct answers... thx

My only complaints are a) how long and, honestly, boring, the lessons are and b) I'm not sure if it's my computer or not but the videos automatically restart instead of stopping when they're done and it's very, very annoying. I would have much preferred to click replay myself if I needed to rewatch the video.

This is a very good way to cover the material necessary to obtain your boating license. It was very easy and the quiz approach is very good. It would be even better if (i) incorrect answers in each quiz were identified and the corrected answers provided - what a teaching opportunity!!; (ii) the materials should be available for download so that the user has reference material to review in the future; and (iii) although not many, there were a couple of questions on the test that were not covered in the materials.

To me it was a awesome way to learn about boating rules and all that and at the same time get a license. One thing I would suggest though is that if u fail a quiz it should tell you what answers you got wrong so that you can go back and review only those topics. The videos are a very good idea. -Alex

The BoatSmart course has great potential, but because the length assigned to each video did not always match the time the video took the play, the process was more time consuming then it needed to be (for example, some videos were only supposed to be 30 seconds, but would loop for 45 or more). This happened several times. Also, while the end of section quizzes were helpful, they were much easier than the Government of Canada test, which made me feel ill-prepared once that begin. I was lucky enough to pass the first time but would have preferred for test quizzes to match the nature of the final exam.

Thorough with content and "forces" you to digest information before proceeding to each next stage thus ensuring you've understood it, however quite slow, repetitive and very time consuming.

Overall a good program, but could use some work on the layout. The fine or faint text font is hard to read for hours on end, I would suggest a bold font instead, as well as arranging the information on each page so that it can be viewed at once, rather than having to scroll down the page unnecessarily. In several places the information could be fleshed out more, as an example the idea of going upstream or downstream and how this applies in tidal areas is not clear. Also I found some test questions were asked when the information wasn't presented until the next module.
