Very clear and easy to understand. Felt there were too many videos to watch however. Perhaps it could be condensed while maintaining the depth of information necessary ?

Great online course, very informative and easy to follow. I got my PCOC in just a few short days, spending online a few hours each day. Thanks.

This course uses YouTube to display much of it's content. When you want to stop and look at the pictures a big banner goes across the course content showing you other available videos, this was sooooo annoying. I bought the family package and there was no way to stop and talk about things. The timing of the course was off, we did 60% of the course in 4 hours and it took 4 hours to do the rest of the course. This extra 2 hour delay meant the travel to use the card got delayed. Yup, poor planning on my part. When I finally took the test, there were things on the test I could not remember seeing. (A light pattern and the meaning of a specific marking on a buoy) Occasionally the timer would go past 0 to 24... hours and keep timing down. I would have to refresh the page to get it to start over, of course this would happen at the end of the first timeout so it doubled the time on those pages. Finally, got off on the wrong foot. I remembered it as boatsmart not outdoor smart and could not find the url to log into searching my passwords for boat.

The complaint that I have with the course is when doing the practice quizzes, it does not indicate which ones you got wrong. This seems counterproductive to learning as I would have liked to have known what I needed to review and study. Very odd process that is in place in my opinion .

Excellent! Just one thing- when you need to repeat a quiz, you should be told which questions were wrong and you should be able to review the module at your own pace, instead of with the timer going- very time consuming.

Some of the content was over and above but I know it's hard to figure out what to put in a course. During the module section it would be nice to know the right answers to questions you got wrong.

Im only 14 and I was trying to study and get my boaters license and boat smart really helped me and I finished studying in only 3 weeks. Boatsmart also taught me lots of cool info and during the actual final test , I could sign back in and review the lessons for assistant , as well as reviewing all the notes and info that I wrote down.

The course gives me confidence that at 72 years old I can keep up and feel safe out there.

Easy to use, and very informative. The break down of material into small pieces makes it interesting and keeps you involved in learning. Videos are great. We had to call for assistance when we started the course and someone was available, friendly and very helpful. Thank you.

As a former USCG 100 Ton Near Coastal Master, this was a good course for lake boating as I will be renting a house boat on Lake Powell is Sept. Only one small issue was the audio would drop off several times throughout the reviews.

I found the course very thorough; I thought I knew all there is to know...the course taught me much more and glad I took it. My take away is "safety, safety, safety"!

Hi, I am a marine pilot in the St. Lawrence river in Quebec and I own a Master Mariner licence. (Highest navigation licence allowing to be captain on any size of ship anywhere in the world). I did the course to get the boat licence card so I don't need to carry my Master Mariner licence with me on a small boat. I actually went thought the whole course because I was interested in seeing what was taught to boaters and if there was a good explanation how to interact with commercial vessels since I very often see dangerous behaviours in the St. Lawrence river while I'm piloting large vessels. I like your website interface and the content was good. However, I found a lot of mistakes through the course. Some mistake are probably information that have been copied or simply written wrong, but some of them are misunderstanding of some principles or even misinterpretation of some rules and regulations. Also, I found few places when the information was different in two different places in the course. Also, 3-4 times, I had questions in the quiz about information that was shown in a subsequent module. The french translation was not perfect sometime (mostly in the website interface rather than the course content) and it was impossible to switch between french or english after you started the course. That would be useful. I wish there was more information about interacting with large vessel. For example diagram and pictures of the visibility from a big vessel, reasons and how dangerous it is to pass in front of commercial vessel (I see that almost everyday in the summer), etc. Thank you. I loved Boatsmart! I had zero knowledge of boating, and in a few short weeks I did the course and passed my exam with flying colours. My only criticism is that I wish there were less lessons within the modules. A few of the videos could be condensed to make one video. Otherwise, great job, guys!!

Clear well laid out lessons, 7 modules which took me just under 4 hours to complete. 98% on the exam- wish they would tell you what you got wrong though!

Lots of information but if you live in the prairie provinces a lot of information would be irreverent.
