“The course is very thorough, and the video illustrations and audio is very beneficial in making the course content easier to understand. I would recommend that all boaters review the test prior to each boating season!”

“Format was good in modules, did prepare u for the test. Was lengthy and at times redundant. Also, no way to review what u got wrong in the quizzes....this would have been helpful...great if passed...but what did I get wrong? My husband and I did the course together and he wrote his test- even though I had done the modules there was no way for me to directly go to the test. I had to watch for another 4 Hours.”

“The course was concise and covered all aspects of safe boating and aligned closely with the Transport Canada exam. The only complaint is that some of the page view minimum times were too long for the content”

“Would love to see different levels of permits available. I can nearly guarantee that I won't (and virtually every one of my land locked friends and acquaintances that I've talked to will never) operate a vessel on anything but small lakes and rivers. Most of the training and questions pertained to ocean and larger waterway operation. If you provided a choice of levels, then if anyone wanted the more extended licence they could apply for that. Also, am paranoid about "trick questions" on these things, ie: on one of the module quizzes the question was re: the colour of a diving BUOY - not the flag, but the buoy. The buoy is white (with a red flag/diagonal white stripe on top) and the only option in the answers for white was with a black stripe and that was apparently incorrect. Anyway, glad to have my permit and hope that the powers that be will consider making different levels available. Thank you..”

“The Boatsmart course was very educational but the Transport Canada final quiz did not reflect the course in the way the questions were worded. I found that after reading the study guide and doing the online course did not prepare me for the "trick" questions that could potentially have multiple answers. This was quite frustrating!”

“Having done a lot of CBT type training with my employer I was stunned to see how slow this was. I could read and process a slide in 15-20 seconds then have to sit there and watch the clock run down so I could go to the next slide. Technically it was fine but the overall time needed to get through it was in my opinion ridiculous.”

Thanks for the feedback Martin! We understand the test can take awhile for some students, but the time requirements and quizzes are required by Transport Canada and NASBLA to ensure all students are able to fully understand all content. The timed requirements are the same across all course providers, and we find many students prefer the convenience of completing the course from the comfort of home, rather than in a classroom setting.
