unable to forward through the modules, even when the voice stops you can not proceed to the next slide, could stream line, failing a quiz should not stop you from proceeding to take the test. Various amounts apply to ocean, which is useless in interior provinces. Quizzes have absurd and obscure questions, designed to make you take longer. Worst course i have ever had to take!!!

I say vary poor mainly for following reasons. In no particular order. 1. When you do the module test and you don’t score 100% you have know idea what question you got wrong. That is ridiculous. I taught computer based training and the student could review the wrong answer and rationalize why they got it wrong and they then can understand what the correct action would be. This is boater safety. A person should be able to complete the course with 100% score if they are actually concerned with safety. 80% isn’t good enough if you don’t know what your doing and drown. 2. A three hour on line test is to long. Having a mandatory time between questions is ludicrous. There were areas of the modules I could have flown through and others I would like to have spent more time on. And just more time to digest and understand the module but knowing that it would take 3 hours at best I didn’t ponder very long on anyone module. 3 From a safety point of view there was way way way too much filler which extended the time of the course. You could do a much better job dealing with on water safety. 4 the modules dealing with buoys is painful. Many boaters boat on small inland lakes without buoys or beacons. And for the people that have Buoys etc they could that module. So I would recommend boater license that are graduated. Like a drivers license. You need a different license to drive a bus, tandem axle truck, motorcycle etc. Can you imagine a drivers safety course to cover all that. Ya. You could say that would be too hard to police but if you are serious about safety then take it bloodwell serious. Imagine. I get my boater card license , have a boat load of people and now I am about to boat on a waterway with channel markers. I would be so confused by them and could kill everyone on board. But hey. I had a boaters card with a watered down version of buoys Give the right level of licensing for the right type of boating. Period. In my opinion and everyone I have talked to thinks the boater card is a huge waist of time and money. 5. Only one module made me feel that there was value to the course and that was navigation with other water craft. Could have used more on that for sure From personal experience and again from what other people tell me we need more education on how to travel on a waterway especially when they get busy. People with boater license are all over the place without a clue on navigating with other boater traffic.

Completely unnecessary to have the units timed for repeats of the section when you don’t pass the quiz. Super annoying. Also, we signed up for multiple people from the same household. We watched all the videos and went through the course content together as a group, then found out we would each have to do it separately again after that. Also unnecessary and annoying. No option to just challenge the quizzes and final exam. Unnecessary and frustrating. For these reasons I would not recommend this course to anyone.

The timer is unnecessary as only an infant would need the designated time given.

I thought the content was good however there is a major problem. Majority of all pages, I would listen to the audio, read the page after listening a few times and still being waiting minutes so that I can go to the page. Why are are all these delays in there? Course is advertised to take 3hrs but it took twice as long for no reason. Huge time waster. Also if you fail a quiz, you have to retake entire module, waiting the same time. Your course was so painful that I do not know how I pushed through it. I have 4 more people that need to get certified asap plus more in the queue. I have told them absolutely do not use Boat smart. Also there was advertisement of videos, there were a couple videos, also misleading.

The online resources are timed. Literally waited for the timer on every page before being able to proceed. Brutal experience.

So many technical issues I finally gave up. I've been spammed with marketing emails from the moment I tried signing up.

I wrote the Boatsmart Program on line on August 4th, 2020. Today it is October 7th and I haven’t heard or received my card. I called the Boatsmart Program, and learned that my card was in limbo cause of a glitch in the system, that the employee says happens all the time. If I hadn’t called I’d be waiting till whenever for my card....

This course was designed by people with no knowledge of adult education, for people who cannot read. The whole course was read to us word for word. The reader also mispronounced many words. a lot of money spent for a substandard product. A first year education student could have done better.

The timer makes it four times longer than necessary. A huge waste of time.

No way to know what I got wrong, no way to study for lack of materials, there should be a way to print the material, I have lots of questions, and no way clarify them.

The timed sections were too long and I could have passed the quizzes before the time that the timer allowed. Wasted a lot of time sitting there.

Thanks for taking the time to leave feedback Bruce. We understand the test can take a while for some students, but the time requirements and quizzes are required by Transport Canada and NASBLA to ensure students of all reading levels are able to fully understand all content. The timed requirements are the same across all course providers, and we find many students prefer the convenience of completing the course from the comfort of home, rather than in a classroom setting. Thanks for sticking with it and safe boating!

Why does a 7 year old with a 9.9hp on a lake need to know 80% of this stuff..... easier to just pay the fine if caught with no license. Deters people from taking test.

Servers kept timing out during last module so it took hours to finally complete (same problem across multiple devices and internet connections). Need to update course to match exam and why is dubstep playing in the background of study videos?
