“I already had the book and read it thoroughly. It was tedious having to go through page after page with the information I had already studied. Therefore the test took hours which was unnecessary for me. Also why was there no way to speed up the pages once one had read them? I am a relatively fast reader and this test seems to be geared for extremely slow readers (I spent most of my time waiting for the next page).”

Hi Ann - Thanks for taking the time to provide a review. At this time, we are unable to change the length of the course as the 3-hour timer is required in Canada by Transport Canada, and required in the U.S. by NASBLA. We understand this may be frustrating for students, however, please understand that the 3-hour timer ensures that all students are able to fully understand all of the course content. Every course provider must meet this requirement and in order to be able to take the course online, from the comfort of home, students must spend 3 hours in the course. Thanks for hanging in there - your 3 hours of studying will get you a lifetime of safe boating fun!

“Bought a packaged deal with book and online test included. Spent a good few hours going through the book to prepare for the online exam. Once online, ready for exam... I was required to go through all the tutorials again before I could write the exam. Was not happy at all with the structure of the exam.”

“I thought that each slide was to vague and that Boatsmart should add more information on each slide or combine slides because then the whole course takes much longer to finish. I realized that a lot in lesson 2.”

“It is easy to learn on line but I would suggest that you also give out a paper copy so boaters can review at a later date. in time you forget some of the buoys and markers and even the final test is difficult to prepare for as you cannot go back!”
