“Follow up from my previous review here regarding my quote, through compare the market starts off through Churchill then email comes from Brightside today received my credit agreement and it’s from another completely different company called Highway Insurance Limited. Please avoid anything to do with this company they are not even an insurance company just another broker who gets you onboard them farms out to other companies so you end up paying more as going through 3 different companies for 1 policy is not helping us the customers by any means. This company needs closing down with immediate affect absolutely appalling.”

“I insured my car with Brightside. I am working long hours atm and had not checked my personal emails for a while. I have found they have cancelled my insurance without telling me why and refunded me less £100 cancellation fee without giving any reason for cancelling.”
“The customer service is the worst. I have been a customer with them, they are over priced but thought it was worth paying extra as I presumed it will mean better service. I called them saying I’ve sold my car and works like a quote for my new car. They asked me the stupidest questions for about 45 Minutes, like is your steering on the right hand side of the car? Anyway just to then be told they don’t give quotes, I must sign up and then I’ll find out the price once I have signed up. Can you please explain the logic to me? Who signs up without knowing how much they will be paying and this is because I’m an existing customer.”
“Never had a problem! We have been with Brightside for years, always found them to be helpful and responsive. All of these negative reviews are clearly from people have done/got things wrong (like letting their payments bounce, or giving inaccurate information) but don’t want to take accountability.
IMO Brightside are a great company, and I would recommend them.”
“"Worse Insurance Company Ever" absolute rip off, cancelled my insurance 9 days in, took the rest of the months money no chance of a refund, charged me £95 to cancel with them, asked them to send me a breakdown of what the £95 was for, still not received any email from them, would NEVER use them again and strongly advise no one else to!!!!”
“Mis sold a breakdown policy by being told it was “included in the price”.
I found out at a later date that it was in fact £88 extra but bundled into total price. No opportunity to make an informed decision on the product and it’s conditions and worst of all it’s with RAC! The absolute worst breakdown company around.
Have emailed Brightside (CVD) to lodge a complaint but ignored. Twice.
A truly awful company to deal with. AVOID! You’ve been warned. They’re shoddy and the staff aren’t trained properly. As far as I’m aware this is a serious breach of regulations from FOS/FCA but it doesn’t stop them from ignoring my complaint.

“Worse company ever sent me a letter saying policy was cancelled on 25.8.23 so I made another policy with another insurance company then a month late I got another letter telling me if policy wasn't paid it would be be cancelled on 5.10.23 my understanding was the policy was cancelled in August rang them loads of ttimes then I received another letter asking for money that was owed I paid this in Sept 2023 then I got an email saying thank you for payment toward s your balance which made me query it they told me policy wax still active until 2024 I made it clear I want the policy cancelled in August 2023 as I have a new policy elsewhere they asked me to send them policy schedule which I then emailed them asking why they needed to see it as it was nothing to do with them I thought that the end if that then I received another email telling me that they can't cancelled until the see new policy schedule so I sent that to them they ema ne back saying I was due a refund if I could send bank details which I did to get refund back to me il just have to wait and see however I did state that if policy is not cancelled I will take legal action and sue company”
“They look for any minor reason to charge you extra. I have been landed with an aditional premium of £80 for getting my no claims discount wrong by only 6 months, despite the quote remaining the same on compare the market with the mistake corrected.”
“Absolute ripoff, cancelled a policy and it cost 25% of the whole years premium. Wouldn't use Brightside ever again, not even if they were the cheapest. Advertised through gocompare and weren't the cheapest but zero cancel fees was great for when my daughter passes her test. Low and behold £126 to cancel a policy”

Terrible company & customer service, They cancelled my Insurance via letter, hence I took out insurance elsewhere on the given date to find they did not cancel they just wanted updated details after the date of cancellation. I then phoned to query & cancel and they wanted payment in full and a cancellation fee as per their terms and conditions. NO customer service telephone number on the snotty email demanding payment in full, only debt advice line phone numbers. SHOCKING COMPANY.”
“Absolute terrible company, do not insure with them in any circumstances, they are those people who write they're term and condition unclear for a reason ro rob you on very first occasion no matter is this a claim or it is just canceling of policy. Once you paid them that's it, they said you signed for it bye, you don't see a penny back if you cancel it, absolute thiefs !!!!!! They say all your refound it's down for commission bye bye !!!! Don't insurance with them !!!!!!!!!!”

My reply was insurance companies are like bookmakers they don’t like to pay out, if they can get out of paying up. Anthony Turner is not impressed.”
“Without doubt the worst experience I've had with an insurance company. They give you a price and then come back for extra money based on tiny details around dates. I even put the exact details they gave me back into GoCompare and the price was the within a few pounds. I've pasted the image from there in the photos.
Taking into account they wouldn't hold off cancelling the policy as I was out of the UK, I had to spend an hour on hold to the cost of £100 calling from Asia - and still did not resolve the situation, plus additional costs to re-arrange cover as most online companies block making payments when you're outside of the UK. I cannot comprehend the level of underhanded approach from this company. I'd avoid at all costs - I never write bad reviews but this needs to be said, they are that bad.”
