Staff could have been more helpful with the product that I purchased being 20% cheaper 3 days later.

I bought an X Rite Colour Checker Passport - expensive for what it is, but after researching it, I decided to bite the bullet. Calumet offered a competitive price at their Open Day. I also bought a rain cover for a DSLR which adjusts to cover a 70-200mm lens as well. This will avoid an expensive repair bill when the lens was soaked a few weeks ago (Note: weathersealed does not mean waterproof). The rain cover was not a Calumet own brand, but the cashier gave me 30% off (which Calumet own brand products were enjoying), so I was happy.

I am giving Calumet Photographic just 4 'Good' because initially there was a mix-up regarding my order. It was resolved after a couple of phone calls with a very advantageous outcome for myself regarding the Manfrotto tripod I had ordered - thanks to the staff at Calumet. I shall definitely continue online with Calumet and recommend it to others.

The assistant, John, was very helpful with my purchase of a new Canon 5D Mkiii, 2 memory cards, carry bag and persuaded me to spend more than I had intended to on a decent macro - Canon 100mm f2.8 L Macro IS USM (lol). All in all very good service!

Before purchase, Damian spent at least an hour with me, allowing me to try the Nikon D750 and D810 with various lenses. This was wonderful and directed me to the better choice for me, the D750. Purchase was rather more problematic: collecting the D750 + a 24-70 lens (offered at a slight discount as a kit) at Drummond Street seemed to present a few admin problems and at one point I was told on the phone (after a lengthy wait) that my D750 had been allocated to somebody else but they had retrieved it. On collection, expecting to get the promised 6 months interest-free, I discovered that the loan is actually not free - there is an admin fee of at least £25, enough to make the 6 month-deal lass attractive. Another customer had the same reaction as me that day. Jessops use the same V12 Finance company and absorb the fee themselves. But the pre-purchase service was, as I said, absolutely terrific.

I went to the Calumet Open day in Edinburgh specifically to see the new 7D Mark II. I had an excellent demonstration of the new camera and was able to try it several features. I also had a superb demonstration of a Manfrotto tripod. I decided to have both articles and bought them there and then. The only glitch was that I have the same postcode as an existing customer and on being asked what that was at time of purchase, it resulted in a receipt made out to my next door neighbour of some 3 years back!! I alerted Canon to this and went back to the local branch to get it sorted out. Of course, the contact details were different and I had wondered why I had not been notified of the delivery of my new 7D Mark II. It was all sorted out satisfactorily.

Now that I have the camera I believe a more detailed orientation to the camera would have been really helpful. i am also waiting for other items to arrive. I hope they will come this week prior to me going to Ethiopia.

The member of staff was very knowledgeable about the item I purchased but I did feel that he was trying to push one particular unit over another.

The initial negotiation was brilliant, staff very accommodating and helpful. Then something broke in the second hand camera I bought, took it back for repair and I was blamed rudely for the damage; I then got it sorted with another member of staff.

Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Impressed with the quality of Calumet's own products but out of stock of a few items so didn't manage to spend as much as I intended!

Speedlight Flash - Freezing The Action Course delivery and material coverd was excellent. Preparation of 'seminar' room and lunch arrangements were less good. Course advertised as being from 09.30 to 16.00 but I was told on arrival it was 10.00 to 16.00. This could have been mentioned in the email I receveived the day before. The seminar/course content was very good but the Calumet FAQs in response to the question "What equipment do I need to bring?" says "We suggest bringing a DSLR camera to all of our courses to get the most out of your learning. " this was not required for this course as the set up required for individual practice was not possible due to the space provided by Calumet. In conclusion the course as delivered by Andy Astbury was excellent, the arrangements of the course could have been better. The title said it all and the method was covered in detail. I will be looking out for more of Andy's courses. Ian Shere

Needed a quality video tripod and head and as a previous customer of Calumet initialy went to look at a Manfrotto product which they had on offer. The Calumet own brand equivalent was on display and seemed well made and at a good price (including a 30% discount available on the day) I ordered the items (not in stock) and they arrived as promised at the warehouse for me to uplift. So far I am very pleased with the product and as always the Calumet staff were well informed and pleasant to deal with. In these days of online retailing and badly trained high street sales staff it's great to get expertise and good service from Calumet.

I ordered a Canon G7X from Calumet as the camera was in short supply at launch and Calumet had stock. I'd also used the shops in the past. Although delivery was quite fast I was disappointed to find that, on opening the box, that the camera was missing. To be fair it was resolved quickly by the sales support team, but I had to make a special journey to one of the London shops to pick up my missing camera. I got a half-hearted apology, but no compensation for having to go out of my way to resolve the matter. I think this falls short of the high standards I'd expect from Calumet, especially for an issue that should never arise if the right processes are in place. Would I buy from Calumet again? In person, probably, but never by mail order.
