I used CARFAX on a 1993 Cadillac Fleetwood Limo in 2015 with 51,300 miles. The Cadillac dealer had reported 51,100 miles to Carfax when it arrived, and later listed it with 86,000. It sold with 51,200 miles on it a month later. I notified Carfax of their error in reporting the milage, and it was changed within 4 business days. I had a reply via email notifying me of the change as well. Thank you for taking the time. I have been a happy customer many times, and will remain one if this how easy it is to do business with you... Be well!

Wanted to get a convertible and found one advertised locally at a known dealership. Was described over phone as nice and under 50,000 miles. Although seemed to look slightly rougher then the 46,000 miles claimed. Got Carfax for it and found that it was a Canadian car. That had the metric cluster replaced with a US version. And that the Canadian cluster stated 136,000KM at last service. Clearly having the mileage falsified and that's from a reputable dealer. So trust no dealer or seller till you get the facts!

Never buy a used car without seeing the Car fax report. Apart from the main criteria of accidents reported, total loss etc, Examine the details, or lack of details will give you an indication if the car was serviced regularly, how long was it on a dealer's premises, how many times was it auctioned, was it exported or imported, Great information to help you decide if the car is worth taking a test drive.

Last year I bought 2 cars. I like buying car from others individual sellers, not dealers. That made a huge problem for me to deal with since some sellers tried to hide their accidents. But Carfax had them all. The first car I spent almost 3 months. I had checked approcimately about 30 cars before I met "The one". Without Carfax, not sure how could I do it.

I found the car of my dreams in a Mitsubishi 3000GT, and before I let me heart do the talking I took a look at car fax to see if I could find anything on the car from it's previous owners. Payed a small fee and got all the right information I needed to make an educated buy. Carfax took a lot of the built-up uneasiness away about buying a 1992 car by allowing me to see critical information about the history of my potential car. I will definitely use Carfax again when I go to buy another car and would highly recommend it to my friends and family.

I was looking for a safe, reliable car for my teenage daughter. I Almost bought a car from a dealer that looked to be a good deal. CarFax showed me it had been in two accidents. I then found the exact same car offered by a private seller. The CarFax was extremely clean and my daughter couldn't be happier!

I was looking at a used car. The dealer gave me a report from a competitor of Carfax that showed the car was clean with no accidents. I had looked at several cars and decided to purchase this car. I was out of town for Christmas and told the dealer I would be in on the Sunday following Christmas to purchase the car. I decided that I would pay for a Carfax to double check the report I got from the dealer when looking at the car. I purchased the Carfax and to my surprise found that the car had in fact been in a front side impact accident. I ended up purchasing a different car. Had I not pulled a Carfax I would have purchased a car based on an inaccurate report by a competitor and would not have known what secrets the car had.

Carfax let me know the vehicle I was going to buy had been in an accident. I'm glad I knew, the dealership had not told me, and I didn't end up buying the car. Carfax saved me so much money!

Car fax was invaluable. The seller sent us a VIN and we ran the Carfax, and it looked to be a good buy. We got there to test drive it, and noticed that the VIN was different on the vehicle. Ran the correct VIN, and found out that the car had been totaled. Carfax saved from a very expensive mistake and a very unscrupulous seller!

Carfax could have saved me a lot of money and ti.e if I used it originally. I purchased a 1997 Honda prelude of Craigslist test drive it and everything seemed fine. 8 hours later the transmission blew up. So I started a hunt for a new car and heard great things about using carfax. So out of boredom I ran the carfax on the prelude to discover I was the 9th owner and the previous owner only had the car for 2 months. From that day forward I will always use carfax. Saves time and can save you a ton of money!!

Carfax saved me thousands of dollars in repair bills! Well $4,000.00 at least. I purchased a 2001 Ford F-350 Super duty crew cab with a 7.3 diesel, 4x4. I searched for over a year and finally found a very low mile (60,000) truck. I purchased the truck and also got an extended warranty from a major insurer. After having the truck for seven (7) month I had to take it in for repairs. The first response from the warranty company was to deny the claim due to the mileage but after reviewing the Carfax history/ mileage report the claim was paid. Thanks for a great service, Fred

I was ready to pull the trigger on a 2007 ford super duty diesel. Milage showing was 117000. Carfax showed it had 390000. Dodged the bullet there. Thanks carfax

I was looking for a new car recently and i came across a seller on craigslist. He mentioned 120k miles on the car and was very confident about the car and firm on price and so i went on to see the car. The car looked good with no damages but as I always do and ask others to do and that is to run the CARFAX report. Once I ran the CARFAX report ,I found out that it mentioned 230k miles on the car. Trust me I was stunned and as soon as i told the seller i could see his expressions changing coz he realized that his fraud was caught and that he might be in trouble. He just wasted no time and vanished. CARFAX saved me quite a few trips to the so called sellers who claimed that they had a great vehicle but actually was not the case.I think the most important investment I made in buying my car was the money i paid to CARFAX for the membership. I would like to thank CARFAX for the invaluable contribution it has made in the life of millions like me.

horrible , I tried several carfax for a tacoma 1st generation, all frames rusted like cheese holes and dealers proud of a clean carfax, when an issue is so BIG that 800,000 frames or more affected CARFAX should have clear disclose of how wrong to sell tacomas without testing frame at the toyota dealer. Seems they cover or dont care the dishonesty of toyota and dealers kicking the trucks having customers stucked with a junk nice looking but useless frame truck.

I fell in love with my 68 Mustang 10 years ago. The time finally came I had to sell. Up drives a 98 Mustang convertible Cobra. He wants to trade straight up. This sounded too good to be true. CARFAX to the rescue. An hour later the deal was done. The car was exactly as advertised. With CARFAX, I was an informed and confident buyer.

Because my vehicle's engine gave out, I was looking for a replacement vehicle for my family. When I signed up for the CarFax service, I chose the "Unlimited CarFax Reports. I had hoped to find information on about 20 different vehicles that I was looking at on several different auction sites. What I received from CarFax wasn't worth the $55--NOT AT ALL!!! And, by the time I found out, I was excluded from receiving a refund...excluded because of your rules of not being able to receive a refund simply because I had run 2 or more CarFaxes. I believe that you could have and should have been far more forth-coming! On the Selection for "Unlimited CarFax Reports", it states "Unlimited Reports by U.S. License Plate Valid for 60 Days." This is NOT Enough Information. Your information should have also included far more information that can only be found by clicking on and reviewing all information of the "Customer Agreement". What you do Not State is that you limit CarFaxes by VIN to only 5 but Unlimited by License Plate Information. A lot of good that does!! Many Car Owners would not divulge their license plate information so I couldn't even check their vehicles out. Also, on dozens (yes, literally dozens) of auction websites remove the plates prior to auctioning their vehicles off. If they don't remove them, they fuzz and distort the license plate area so that you cannot see the license plate information. So, how can I use the Unlimited CarFaxes by License Plate Information? I CANNOT!! Your Service WASN'T WORTH ANYTHING TO ME!!! All I could do is run 5 CarFaxes by VIN - NOT VERY UNLIMITED. And, with the distortion of license plates, I could NOT run any CarFaxes by License Plates - the only way you allow UNLIMITED CarFaxes for 60 DAYS!!! Okay - you can certainly see that I AM NOT A SATISFIED CUSTOMER. What could you do? Refund my hard-earned money immediately!! If you do, then you help pave the path of of making it right with this unsatisfied customer. What else should you do? Make the Unlimited CarFaxes to include Unlimited VIN CarFaxes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What could you have done? More Easily Inform prospective clients of the challenges and difficulties of running license plates, especially when I couldn't even get the license plate information on virtually any auction site that I went on. There are other things that could also be done to improve your services. Fred Franke ffranke@cox.net 504-782-3337

Carfax helped me find the perfect car! I looked at a gorgeous white Toyota Corolla last year. I was so set on purchasing it. Thanks god I checked the Carfax Report. It showed the vehicle had 4 previous accidents and was towed from the accident. I'm glad I checked with carfax before making a decision. I landed up buying an amazing Chevy with a clean carfax! If it weren't for Carfax I could have landed up with a car that had previous accident damage. Remember looks are deceiving on cars! The only way to really know about a car before buying it is by checking the carfax report for hidden damage that you can't see with your eyes. It's like a report card on a car ;) thanks Carfax!
