“When setting up the pieces, the board lights up like a Christmas tree. It has a hard time knowing if the piece is there or not, and flashes even though the piece is on the square. Some pieces/spaces detect better than others but it’s hard playing a game of chess when the board is flashing rapidly.”

“I love the board and how it works to play against AI black on level 3 to get my brain functioning as a 73 year old retired man dedicated to THINKING due to challenge. My current game ( that I saved) has me down a knight, so things are not going so well at the moment. Saving the game allows me time to look at the board now and then and figure out my next best move without having the board powered on. Black moves in less than a second and for the opening I kinda move with that speed. But then it gets more challenging. I really like it cause it makes me feel alive.”

“I am a retired teacher, living in a retirement home. I planned to use this chess set to teach some of the residents who either have always wanted to learn chess, or played years ago and wanted a refresher. This set is "sort of okay" for that purpose. First, the pieces are too light. You bump into one piece and three or four fall over; they need to be weighted. Second, the board works beautifully if you're playing but not if you want to do a demonstration: here's how the rook moves, here's how the bishop moves, etc. I'm using my own (regular) board for now, and when the folks are familiar enough with moving the pieces, and are ready to play, I'll bring out this one. I'm sure it'll be great then; it just doesn't work for teaching outside of the "play" format.”
“My son wanted the Chess Up Board to take to his Wednesday nights Chess Meets at a place called SlowPokes in Houston, TX (a really great guy started these meetings for all ages, its really fun to watch the adults & kids that gather to play chess).
