About Clear Business:

Clear Business is part of the Verastar Group, which was established in 1998. Over the years, we have had one mission – to make the lives of small business owners easier.

Clear Business started off as a Scotland Water provider, and has gradually entered new markets to become the unique provider we are today – offering Green Electricity, Gas, Water in England as well as Scotland, Phone Lines, Broadband, Mobile and Insurance (through our sister company The Insurance Octopus), with all monthly services all on one bill.

Do not go near this company if you ever want to leave! Closed my business many weeks ago and although they they were informed by letter and email well in advance, they are still chasing and threatening me. They make it as difficult as possible to contact them and to leave. They guaranteed no cancellation charge were the business to close when contract was renewed but have not honoured this. I now intend to take the matter further with the regulatory authorities and have already invoiced Clearbusiness for my wasted time to date. Just go elsewhere people.

Overcharging and refusing to even abide by SPSO ruling against them. AVOID. This company should be banned from providing utilities.

The singularly most toxic utilities company I have ever come across. Avoid at all costs. Appalling. No response at all to your own queries, but constant demand for unwarranted payments for services you never received. Please, please, please, go elsewhere, anywhere but here.

Just awful, will screw you at every opportunity, we are closed due to Covid, refusing to freeze payment for services we cannot use, added extra charges! This is probably one of the most corrupt companies I have ever had to deal with. Tried to cancel my contract and they are going to charge us now over £400 cancellation fees.

I can't rate 0, but this is how I describe this company... -0 Overcharge with no real explanation, embarrassing myself in front of my clients as I can't do bookings, payments or share WiFi... Terrible, but locally I'm finishing my contract soon and is a release. Is a NONO from me!!!!

Was miss sold internet and phone line. Was told in person that it would be £24.99 per month for 2 years. In reality it is £54.99 for 3 years. Absolutely nothing has been done to resolve this after countless phonecalls and emails. Avoid at all cost!!!

AVOID AT ALL COST! This company is the worst. Firstly, charged for 2 months of broadband, but actually FORGOT to send the router. So requested a refund for what we had been charged for, but couldn't actually use because it wasn't sent. Not once, but twice this happened! Sent several emails, had no reply. Called several times, over the last 3 months, same line used, but nothing actually done. COME ON CLEAR BUSINESS, where is my credit you keep promising will be on ‘in 24 hours’....!? Its been 3 months. Where are my call backs? Where are the replies to my emails? Also electricity has doubled from last month, even though less electric has been used!? How does that work out? They charge what they want, and don't actually do anything to help the customer. There are much better companies out there. I will be taking my business elsewhere. I will being informing the ombudsman too. This company is unethical. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE find a better company to use not these!

Appalling service. I had an internet account while working from home, it was continually down or so slow that I would have to go to the local library to send files to clients. They sent an engineer to take a look who said that he had found a fault and that I would have to pay nothing for this visit. This visit didn't help at all and after a couple more months of incredible stress and giving up on an internet connection the internet contract was terminated. They then took £300+ from my account which was twice the engineer costs. My advice would be to stay well clear of these, no end of stress and increasing costs.

Awful experience, constant extreme overcharging when our business was closed for months on end. We cancelled the direct debit, I spoke to what seemed like a nice lady I told her we were closed due to Covid 19, she got me convinced all would be fine and she will call me back to re- discuss and take payments gradually when we were back on our feet. However no discussion was had and they took £350 straight out my account (which I don't even believe we had given them permission to set up a direct debit again). £350!!! for a £50 per/month broadband with no discussion of this. Stealing in my eyes. The internet is a rip off anyway unfortunately it was not even us who set up this account but our previous utilities broker, you can get a good internet line from talktalk for £17.99 per/month. You ca also never get through when you call up at all, so even if you accrue unjust charges this cannot be discussed. No response via email either. Also the phone disconnected on another occasion perhaps for a reason? Classic dirty tactics. They couldn't care less about any businesses struggling through these difficult times they just want to make more money out of you and take advantage of the situation. I assume a lot of the positive reviews on Trustpilot are actually fake ones made by themselves to counteract the poor ones.

Over the last 12 months they have overcharged me, imposed debt management fees for no reason, charged me for their failure to collect a direct debit, told me misleading information, said they had called when they hadn't, said they will call back at a specific time and didn't, failed to book an engineers appointment when they told me they had done and provided me with invoices that don't make sense. I could go on more - I really have never been treated like this before.

Good customer service ends once the contract is signed. I totally agree with the other negative reviews on this company. The advice on direct debits is really worth following. Don't believe any false promises as they are just that FALSE. I have been repeated overcharges and had bills which quite frankly even they couldn't understand. The worse bit is the customer service I have had repeated promises from them telling me they will call you back and they don't. One promise was a return call in 10 minutes, it took 9 days, which wasn't bad as for most the return calls has never happen. Best advice I could give anyone considering this company is goes to anyone, but Clear Business. As I write this review I have been on hold for the past 46 minutes and still holding. There vision statement is "You're Our Priority" - DO NOT BELIEVE IT, YOU ARE THE LAST PRIORITY! My contract is up in October and believe you me that day isn't coming quick enough.

Appalling company. Do NOT use them. We sold our house and B&B business, and every utility company we used...water, gas, internet, electric was fine...but Clear Business... boy oh boy...charged us £500.00 to close down the phone line contract. After several weeks we are still battling with them. Terrible customer service, high prices. Do not, whatever you do, use this company. RIP off merchants! If I could give them no stars at all, I would.

RIP off company. Agreed a price with them then was asked just to sign an email and return. First bill was more than double the verbal agreement. All they can say is you signed and that's that we're not doing anything about it. Avoid at all cost dont get corned like me

The worst company I have ever dealt with, 1) The phone line, They promised to cover the cost of leaving the old provider but lied, cost me £400. 2) The Phoneline was so bad that I have to use my mobile to run my business as the internet was un-usable, complained for over 6 months and then said the modem was faulty but was 2 weeks out of warranty so I needed to pay for a new one. 3) Had a gas bill for £5500, they told me it was a problem with their system and to ignore the bill, I then receive a bill for non-payment, and a bill for £1400 for 1-month gas, always paid about £40 before this. 4) they have just taken £4350 out of my bank account, I now have no money left to keep the business running. I will probably lose my business due to these. Even if you are with this company already you should just leave and pay the cancelation fee before they take all your money.
