On renewal, all they managed was to increase the price which seemed ridiculous

After 8 continuous years of insuring our property with the company without making any claims their quoted renewal price came as rather a surprise with a substantial increase . Our request for a reappraisal and possible reduction was met with indifference.,causing us to seek alternative cover.

Landlord insurance claim declined , they said it wasn't covered by my policy. So I complained ! Guess what , they have decided to uphold my complaint. So clearly my claim was valid . What does that tell you ? They will try whatever underhand method they can to reject claims. Still have not seen any money from them. No doubt they will now nit pick what their going to pay out. I will not be renewing my policy with them and would advise potential customers to insure elsewhere.

I have been with the company for at least 15 years ,after talking with other home owners I discovered that I was paying well over what they were paying for home insurance .around £150 more per year

Have complained many times to Direct line That under no conditions that they will not Automatically Renew my car insurance without myself knowing what am paying for it and why it’s keeps going up every year and I have never had to ever make a Claim in all my 40 + years driving. Plus they would not even discuss It very poor. And Highly overrated

In my opinion only and my experience it would seem that being a loyal customer, not made a claim since goodness knows when,I appear to be a cash cow.Perhaps other people found differently.

Been with Direct line for a great number of years apart from gap insurances when I got it free when purchasing a new car for a year. Prices just kept going p and up and asked for a review before switching (very nice gentleman) but price was not acceptable. Switched to Autonet. for a £200 reduction for the exact same cover. Great VFM compared to Direct Line, just goes to show loyalty isn't re-payed even though I've never claimed a penny off them.

When it comes to reviewing evidence at time of claim, it appears the onus is on the policyholder to prompt them to.review efficiently. It's frustrating as expect to.have to repeat the submission.of evidence, the insurance company looks for an easy decision rather than assessing info at hand.

The renewal quote for my wife’s car insurance was £200 more than another provider.p even though supposedly she had a 30% discount for 9+ years no claim bonus. She rang and asked them what the cost would be to remove two named drivers and it was increased by a further £40! Needless to say, she did not renew her policy.

Direct Line have caused me incredible amounts of stress and led to a big fine and 6 points on my license after a system error caused them to delete my insurance. Following this deletion, they failed to communicate with me that my insurance had been cancelled leaving me without insurance until I was pulled over, totally unaware of what had happened. I’ve been with them 20 years and all I asked for was a letter admitting they’d made a mistake. They refused to do this. I was even happy to waive compensation and free insurance, but they wouldn’t help still. DON’T EVER USE DIRECT LINE - they are a horrible company.

I wrote to these guys for a full refund. They took my money by direct debit then told me they don`t do van insurance. They never replied back to me and have held onto my £600.00 + quid ever since. Absolute robbers. I had to click a star to write a review otherwise I would not give one at all. Then they have the cheek to send me pet insurance offers. Who ever owns this company is bad. After years of being a dedicated customer I duscovered I was been charged more than double what I would be if I was a new customer and 10 times what Sainsbury would charge me for home and contents insurance. Absolute rip off. No wonder they're not on comparison sites.

I would give zero stars if possible. For around 8 months of my policy they had the wrong registration plate. Discovered this when the police pulled me for no insurance. You can imagine the shock. I was paying£75 a month for a policy that was for a car that had been scraped years ago (the police told me) Outcome: No refund at all from direct line, they tried everything to avoid refunding me. Total scammers. £300 fine and 6 points from police. I was lucky they didn’t tow my car away. Uber expensive experience with this mob I then got a letter out in October saying I could get refunded for Lockdown. I had 0 Millage at the time of lockdown. They refunded me £3 a month lol absolute joke of a company AVOID
