“These guys are cowboys. They are tucked away in a backroom in a hotel. When yopu arrive with your agreement they tell you that insurance is not included and try to palm you off with extra insurance. My agreement firmly stated that all insurance was included. The wanted to take 1,500 pounds off my credit card or charge 15 pounds per day! They are crooks and should be avoided at all costs.”
“Avoid at all costs cowboys I booked an automatic car since my left leg was broken but they wanted to offer me a manual car After argument said we have cancelled ur booking ! Just 2 hours before my travel plan !!! if it was not for a suport from a friend in the last min I would have missed my heathrow flight. I made the boking through rentalcars uk seems they are aware of this company as a scam but they r more interested in the booking fee!! Unbelibeable we have to deal with scammers everybody knows about it !! Then they blame you why pick a cheap price”
“The customer service at easirent was disgusting. There were many things I was not told about prior to booking and/or prior to paying for additional items. It felt like I was being conned by easirent and I will never use them again and would advise my worst enemy to not use them.
Initially I advised the customer service agent that I had insurance already but he quoted £10 for additional insurance and because I could not reach my bank at that time I agreed but then was told it was £20 when I was about to pay (I.e. £10 a day). I agreed to it and paid but then I did reach my bank and was told regardless of whether there was basic coverage from easirent I would be covered. I then asked for a refund but after I refunded I was told there would need to be £12.50 kept back because some sort of basic coverage was required. I was not told about this prior to getting the insurance or asking for the refund.
I decided to keep the coverage I originally paid for but then was advised there was a 5% surcharge due to my Amex card which I was not told about initially (therefore paid £21).
On picking up the car I was told the petrol in the tank would be quarter to quarter which I was not told about prior to booking or picking up the car (the Expedia confirmation said full to full). This is ridiculous and I have not come across this with any car rental company anywhere in the world.
When I did eventually pick up the keys I was then advised that any chip would cost me £185 plus vat even if they are minor chips in the paintwork, etc. It is sometimes inevitable to get these when driving on the motorway.
In the end I told the customer service agent I did not want the car anymore even though I had paid the original £27 and extra £21 for the added insurance (which I did not need). I did not feel at all comfortable with using the rental car and preferred to regard the £48 as just money I had lost than continue with the rental and risk incurring other unforeseen charges. The feeling I got was that I was being conned out of additional money and I had zero trust in anything I was showed. Afterwards I simply booked a car with one of their competitors nearby and paid for that even though I already had a car with easirent. It felt like it was all a big scam!!
Absolutely disgraceful rental experience and they even refused to refund anything as I think they themselves know this is the only revenue they will get. I am sure they will eventually just fold and restart under a different name like other scams. I cannot believe a respectable company like Expedia have a vendor like easirent.”
“We Hired a car through Rentalcars.com and was given Easirent.com as the supplier.
We paid everything asked for before we landed in Luton.
We were taken to a car storage park some miles from the airport which seemed strange but looking back it worked in their favor.
We were then told that we had to purchase from them a different type of insurance if we wanted the car. This insurance was twice as much as quoted by the broker when making the booking. So now we had 2 insurance polices running at the same time covering the same car... Is this not against the law or something...
We have also been charged twice for the "One way fee"
The £30 of fuel was more like £20...
(How many people bring back a car with an empty tank)
Reading what other people have wrote, we are not alone and so may people have lost out due to this company....
I feel it will be a long uphill battle to receive any refund from them.
If you have a choice... pick another company...”
“I hired two cars in july from Easirent Heathrow. On return there was a 1cm mark on the alloy wheel. Probably a stone. I disputed this however without authority they took £150 from my credit card. Customer serice did not respond and refused to talk to me. This company is criminal. Do not trust them..I would have preferred to give them no stars.”
“I rented a car and was booked to collect at 10am. There was such a huge delayed service that we waited in a queue until 13:30 to get our car. This greatly inconvenienced us as we had only hired the car for one day until 8pm and it meant we were over 3 hours late which entailed an utterly stressful and ruined day we had carefully planned. Then they tell me I can only request a refund through email. I emailed them 7 times and phoned 4 times within 3 weeks before anyone finally got back to me!!! I am still waiting! They say they cannot allow refund until customer services okays it. They are total crooks...DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!”
“I booked my car over 6 weeks prior to my trip, and the booking was for 10:00am. As of 2:47pm, I still do not have a car. They over-booked. There are 6-7 others also waiting hours for a car.
This is my first taste of London, and it absolutely blows. Avoid this company.”
“Agree with all the negative statements here. They are scammers they have ripped me off in much the same way and I'm amazed they are able to operate in UK. I have reported them to Action Fraud and encourage others to do the same”
“I hire a lots of cars in my travels around the world and this has to be the worse ever ..
London Sheraton Hotel Branch , Be careful of this unprofessional Hire company ,Booking was easy on line from New Zealand , Used credit card on line to pay in advance for Rental , Problem started when arrived to collect car in London , Doing the paper work to After completing their PAYMENT AUTHORISATION CREDIT / DEBIT CARD for the additional (if any ) charges .. I then hand over my credit card (as per there on line Contract/instructions the same credit card they have already take the rental payment from , he now says the credit card now needs a pin number so the $1250 refundable Deposite for insurance to cover if any damage to car. I told him it is a CREDIT CARD ONLY and has never had a pin number on it ..He then called me a liar and says then that he can not release the rental car to me ..Called credit card company from there office and handed phone to him and the credit card company confirmed to him that there is no pin number allocated to my card .He then lied and said all car rental company's in UK do this .. So in short the F****** did refund my rental after having to email a request ,but still charged me for 3 days rental as they said i cancelled the contract and failed to show up to collect car. I then went to Euro car in terminal 2 of airport and then 20 minutes later walked out to pick my rental car ,, using the same credit card without a pin number.
i Believe that was a scam from your company to force me into paying the non refundable FULL COVER INSURANCE OF GBP 266 which they would have taken payment for with my credit card (without pin number )and if i did you would not need the GBP12500 deposit same card but need pin number .. as such i am going to seek legal advice on this matter and am asking credit card company to seek a charge back for the 3 day hire charges .
BE VERY CAREFUL OF THIS SHODDY COMPANY .IT APPEARS THEY MAKE MORE MONEY OUT OF CONNING PEOPLE FOR EXTRAS THAN THEY DO FOR HIRING A CAR ..”
“Very poor service. Waited an hour at Manchester Airport to be picked up. When I managed to contact the driver he said no one had told him we were waiting.
We'd booked on-line some days earlier. One we arrived at the reception, our Australian credit/debit card was refused and we were told we'd have to pay about 22 pound a day excess on top of the rental costs. This would more than double the cost. We left and asked the driver (a very nice and helpful chap) who suggested he take up to the Airport car rental village. He said we were the third group of people he'd taken there from Easirent that morning (and it was only 11.00 am). The Easirent counter staff just didn't care.
Having to rent direct from another company at the airport meant we didn't get the chance to look for deals and probably cost us money. However, our experience there (Europcar was completely different.
I'd never use them again and would recommend anyone considering doing so not to do it.”
“AVIOD - save the misery.
The worst rental experience I've ever had. Understaffed, unhelpful and a con.
1) Manchester Office is not beside the other car rentals. After realising that I needed to call for a minibus to pick me up, the minibus was 30 min late and had to phone again to "remind" them of my earlier call.
2) Staff couldn't handle simple questions and had a "computer says no" attitude to everything. Every other customer in the place had the same experience and there was not one happy customer. It was almost as if they were trying to make everyone miserable. I feel sorry for some international arrivals who had completed the booking but were being turned away because they did not have 2 proof of address documents. No, online documents aren't ok, no you can't change your booking. No you can't pay on another card.
3) After finally figuring out a way to get past their restrictive system, we got going an hour later.
4) Upon return there were about 30 people waiting on a single 8 seater minibus to get to the airport. Everyone looking miserable. We waited 15 minutes in a queue to have the girl hand our details to the guy checking the vehicles. The same guy we'd pulled up to 15 minutes earlier. So unhelpful. Ended up getting a taxi to the airport so that we did not miss our flight.
SAVE YOURSELF THE MISERY”
“Easirent really is a scam. Rented a car online. Tried to get a car at Edinburgh airport, got there late because they are actually not at the airport, but you need a shuttle bus to get there, was charged extra 80GBP for a bigger car, because my car got already rented by someone else ! Had to pay extra 170GBP for insurance. The car they offered had a tire pressure problems, so they offered to change the tire or give me smaller car, even tho i payed extra for a bigger one.
After i declined the offer and demanded a transaction void, they kindly explained i wont be able to get the prepaid money back because of the policy. No one was concerned about not being able to go through with the deal. Because they got what they wanted.
Avoid the Easirent and report to authorized organizations if you have similar experience.”
“Worst experience ever - total scam .
We hired a car with these cowboys 3 weeks ago. We were forced to pay an extra £200 for their ripoff insurance even though we had taken out a stand-alone insurance policy. They did this by telling us that our credit card had been declined and so we would have to take their insurance or else no car. However our bank assured us that the card had never been declined but that Easirent had deliberately cancelled the transaction . We complained several times and have been continually passed around . I have written several times to their customer services about this fraud but still no reply after 3 weeks. Avoid these cowboys - it's a total scam !”
“Very unprofessional and aggressive staff who use scare tactics to sell extras. Car checked thoroughly upon return to find any fault possible, when none found a statement that a cleaning charge will be applied because there is ash in the back. I'm not a smoker nor was any passenger at any time, argued but to no avail as they have my credit card details already so they deducted regardless. The ash they stated was dried flecks of mud!! Late fee applied also when stuck in traffic for two hours due to car crash despite renting out later than requested time because staff were dropping others off at the airport and not there when I arrived to collect. Never use this company, the list could go on!!”
“Do not use these people, shocking service. Swearing in front of customers including young children. 3 hours to collect a car that was not fuelled or clean. Please do yourself a favour and use a different company”
“I specifically book an ESTATE car with EasiRent a few weeks ago when I got to the UK. Fair enough, the website did say Ford Mondeo Estate (or equivilent), however the Peugeot 208 that was given to me is classified as a compact car (by Peugeot themselves), however EasiRent Heathrow were insistant it was a full size estate, which it obviously not.
Not only was I waiting for over ONE HOUR after it was my turn at the desk before I was eventually handed the keys (after paying an EXTRA £50 penalty relocation fee, which was clearly indicated on the website as included in the original fee and also putting £1,200 hold on my credit card) the front wheel had damage on it that was not indicated on the handover paper. I pointed this out before we drove away and the paper was subsequently changed. We hit bad weather and was surprised that the window washer tank was completely empty. When I attempted to deliver the car back to the EasiRent drop off point in Gatwick, it turns out the address that they had given me was incorrect. The lady in the hotel said EasiRent had moved several months ago and handed me a poorly duplicated map of the new location. She also added that this happens every single day. Npw I had to drive an additional 25 minutes to drop off the car, something that I had not planned on at all.
I wrote to EasiRent when I got back home detailing the unsatisfactory service I had received and heard nothing. I then wrote a second email giving them seven working days to respond to my complaint before I took the matter further.
Again, I heard nothing.
So I have taken steps to inform BBC Watchdog, The Daily Express, TripAdvisor, this site and a few others about what to expect when dealing with EasiRent.
By the way, when filling in the credit card paperwork they expect you to tell them your three figure CVC code that is on the back of your card.
DO NOT DO THIS as I have been advised by my lawyer that it is illegal to do this and basically gives permission for EasiRent to take whatever they like from your account.
I suggest you stay with the big hitters like Hertz, Avis, Sixt etc, and give the EasiRent cowboys a wide berth.”
“Being a regular customer to Easirent, they refused me to provide the car as they were unable to get the DVLA code. I called the customer services and they promised that they will refund the amount and nothing till now. its been 2 months. When i call customer care now they are saying that it cant be refunded.”
“Long story short, booked a car with Easirent, cancelled it because of a death
in the family, promised by them full refund, still didn’t receive it after one
month. Sent several messages, begged them to start replying to my emails,
contacted Online chat service four times, got three promises it will be refunded
in “no more than five days”… still nothing!
In details:
On 14th June booked a car from Easirent for a period from 24th till 26th June.
On 17th June cancelled the booking because of death in the family.
On 18th June received an email from Easirent saying “I have now cancelled your booking with us and scheduled a full refund to be made, this should be with you in approximately 8 working days.”
On 1st July sent an email to customer.service@easirent.com saying “I still do not
see any payment from your side on my account. Would you please check it and
inform me when can I expect the refund?”. No reply.
On 2nd July forwarded that email to cancel@easirent.com. No reply.
On 5th July contacted Online chat service, got an email of the Customer service manager. Forwarded the email to her. No reply.
On 06th July contacted Online chat service, I was told that "it was processed yesterday",
meaning Tuesday 05th, and I will get it until Friday 08th the latest.
On Friday 08th July contacted again Online chat service. After speaking with them I
received an email saying “I have contacted out financial services in regards to
this and this has now been actioned. I would therefore expect the full amount to
be back in your account in no more than 5 working days.”
On 14th July I sent an email saying “can you please tell me why I still don't see any refund on my account? Do you have any confirmation from your financial services that the refund was processed, and email it to me?”. Got a reply saying “According to our records the payment has been processed, but it can take up to five working days dependent on the bank for the funds to become available.”. I asked them “Can you please tell me
whether it was processed by PayPal or a bank transfer?”. No reply. I asked them
again “can you please get the confirmation that the refund was processed from
your financial services, and email it to me? A simple screenshot would do just
fine.” No reply.
On 15th July I emailed them “You again stopped replying to my emails after I had asked for an evidence of the refund. It took one day to transfer my money to your account on June 14th, I cannot understand what is different at your side. Since another promised five days passed I am forced to raise a Dispute through PayPal.” No reply. I opened a Dispute. Still no reply.
Today is 26th July, still no refund received as officially confirmed by my banker.”
