We haven’t viewed all of the film as of yet, but many pictures were out of focus, to dark or not clear. We did understand that the films were old and not in the best condition. We would have liked it if you could have deleted the pictures that were in poor condition.

I was happy with the quality of VHS to CD conversion. So, I returned with a few negatives, they took quite a long time for scanning the negatives (< 15). I am fine with that, but the quality of the scans is very disappointing. I agree my negatives are not in excellent condition, but they are not in pretty bad shape, even the basic software like Epson's digitial ICE can give a much better output. The communication is also poor, if they have any tools available for quality enhancement I would like to know about those, but I never heard about my options here, I tried to check about this but they weren't very enthusiastic about it. I choose Ever present only because I thought they have better tools, but it turned out to be not the case. My Epson V660 perfection has better quality output.

Everyone was very nice and kept me informed of the progress with the film. The original price quote online was not accurate and it ended up being double the original quote. I think this could be improved upon. Also the quality of what was received back was a little disappointing. Ended up sending it somewhere else that did a better job.

The first order worked out great. My second order I wasn't sure about the content of the video tape. I was told someone would call me to make sure it is what I thought, but it turned out to be old cartoons that I paid a lot of money to digitize.

Hi Larisa, Thanks for your note, glad you had a good experience with your first order. For the second order, unfortunately we cannot screen for content as the work is being done by our technicians. We do offer a viewing station that is available for clients to use for screening before digitizing. Please let us know if we can help with anything else in the future. EverPresent

I think I was quoted around $500.00 to convert my VHS’s to DVD format. I wasn’t sure what was on any of the tapes, I assumed they were videos of family events, but they could have been recorded over without me knowing just as easily. I decided against going through with everpresent, maybe if they were able to show me what was on the tapes prior to assuming I’d hand over $500 blindly. However, my tapes were returned in a timely fashion in a nice white box. Thank you.

Hello Justin, We see that you didn't use our services, we welcome the opportunity to work with you. As it is not part of our service to screen for content, you are welcome to visit our main headquarters in Newton, Ma where we have equipment for clients to use. You can preview your video files before digitizing. Thanks, we look forward to hopefully working with you! EverPresent Team

The whole process took way too long and there was a definite communication problem.

I received a certificate issued by Everpresent that was given away by a radio station. It was good for up to 100 photo scans saved to a CD, thumb drive, or cloud. I had to drop off at a satellite location and Everpresent would not start my project without a non refundable deposit that was NOT stated anywhere on the certificate. Shouldn't that be included? When I called to give the deposit it was not charged to my account right away. It wasn't until weeks later and before I was even notified my project was complete. It was a little bit of an inconvenience that week as I wasn't expecting that withdrawal. Other than that, I was satisfied with the work done.

Considering that the service was quite expensive, I was surprised it was not done with more personalized effort. For instance, audio recordings that were ~2x natural speed were provided to me without any adjustment. Since the "as is" transfer to digital can be done with very little human intervention, $50 to digitize each reel of audiotape does not feel like a great value.

The process was simple. The people were great. The turnaround time was good. The final product ( old reel to reel audio turned into cd's ) was not as good quality as the originals but it may not be possible to make it so. At least it is on an easier to use format.

Too expensive

Jennifer, I'm sorry you ultimately felt the project was expensive. Our pricing for slides scanning is very competitive, especially for a local service, and includes things most competitors don't provide, such as unpacking and repacking carousels, dust removal and more. We are always looking for ways to be more efficient and pass savings to our clients, but given the precious materials we work with, we have to do things by hand, extremely carefully, on pristine equipment. It's not necessarily a cheap project, but a worthwhile one that you only have to do once, thankfully.

I do not wish to write a review until my project is complete. At present I am having trouble finding out what the status is.

The representatives from Everpresent were delightful to deal with and most of the footage that was digitized was good, especially the 16mm film. I was, however, quite disappointed with some of the 8mm and Super 8mm conversations which were far to jumpy as if the film lost its loop and no one corrected it. This happened on a number of the films, but it wasn’t until I checked them on a projector that I realized that the problem was with your conversion and NOT the film. As it was so long after our business was conducted before I discovered this, I did not complain and seek restitution. This is unfortunate as I am now reluctant to submit anymore projects.

Ralph, thank you for sharing this with us. I just reviewed your Quality Letter, and there isn't any obvious reason why the footage would be jumpy. I'm going to email you separately, but if you're able to share couple of examples of the reels that you're referring to, our technicians can review and let you know if this can be improved or if it's an unavoidable issue in the capture process. In any event, please don't be shy to let us know about issues like this. It's never too late after a project for us to want to spend time improving.

I worked with a very nice woman to put some tape onto a thumbdrive. It wasn't clear how much of the tape was any good. I was told that I wouldn't be charged for any tape that was unclear but there was quite a bit that wasn't, that was included in the thumbdrive. I wouldv'e preferred not to have minutes of red video that couldn't be seen. that is why I'm giving an acceptable but not good rating.

Lee, thank you for sharing this with us. When tapes are blank or completely unintelligible, we are one of the only companies I know of about that does not charge full price for those tapes. But in instances like this where much of the tape is good, but there are also many unavoidably damaged or red sections, we proceed with the digitizing so you can enjoy the good footage. Unfortunately, when we are charging under $30 per transfer to USB/DVD, we are not able to offer full editing and cleanup of the tape to weed out all mediocre footage. We offer the service for $80/hour, but we don't impose it on everyone as it would become expensive given that the average tape is over one hour long and the editor would have to watch most of the tape. All that said, if you have already taken the time to identify where you see footage you don't like, please feel free to call us about a small editing project to clean up the footage, which we may be able to do in less than an hour given your preparation, or to ask our advice for free editing software.

The CD duplication was fine, but I was unpleasantly surprised that you splashed the name “everpresent” in large font across my CDs, while my name as the composer of all the songs was not even on the label. Made it look as if the songs were by Everpresent, rather than by me. Why you feel the need to grab advertising on my CDs is inexplicable and misleading as t authorship. I paid the costs for your work. I did not intend to provide you (frankly useless) advertising on my original material. Not cool at all!

Doug, thank you for letting us know. This is Eric, the owner. We put our company information on the DVDs partly for advertising as you say, but primarily so people can find us for when they need extra copies or damage a copy and forget where the original work was done. This is important since a significant percentage of our discs are used as gifts for family and friends for digitized home videos. That said, we do offer custom, unbranded CD labels, and in a case with original music, I wish we had offered you the unbranded labeling initially. I'm going to shoot you a note separately. We're happy to remake the discs for you free of charge.

The work was fine! But the fact that I was charged a higher amount then the quoted price when I picked up my order really didn’t sit well with me.

I was disappointed with the lack of help and creativity that I received. I was looking for some ideas from my representative. Either a new idea or ideas that the company had used in the past with other clients. I feel the bare minimum was done on my project and I would have been willing to spend more money and expand my project had someone seemed interested and willing to get creative with me.

Thank you for letting us know. Our team is instructed not to be too pushy when it comes to expanding projects, whether that means doing editing, additional copies, etc. But it sounds like here we should have been much more clear about our capabilities, especially as our team most enjoys engaging creative projects. If you'd like to pursue doing something more with your newly digital footage, you might ask to work with Anna. She has a lot of experience dealing with projects of your type and will be full of ideas once you give her a sense of direction. Thank you for your business!

I am not surprised that you sent this survey AGAIN. Your company could not digitize my Mavica discs. It shows how there is a disconnect between departments in your organization. This department does not know that the other department FAILED to convert my files. Then had the CLASSLESS Gaul to charge me for the return shipping.. I own several companies and always show some class when we return unsuccessfully procssed parts by paying shipping .

I had 5 DVDs made of a VHS tape that I bought on eBay to replace one that our family had loved in the past, but which had been misplaced years ago. When I dropped it off, I told the person at Everpresent that I had been unable to view the tape (no VHS player anymore) and I hoped that it was in decent shape. The project took about twice as long as they originally told me, and I had to reach out to them to find out what the status was, after not hearing from them in the anticipated time frame plus several days. There seemed to be some confusion when I called about it, and it took some time for them to track down my order. When I (finally) picked it up I was told that there was some slight wear to the VHS tape with resulting "minor" flaws in the DVD. I excitedly gave copies to my children and to a couple of friends. But when I actually watched the DVD I was extremely disappointed. Large portions (like almost 50%) of the recording were unwatchable, presumably because the VHS tape was (unbeknownst to me) worn out. Granted, the fact that the tape was worn out is not the fault of Everpresent. But I am disappointed that they didn't contact me to tell me how poor the quality was, especially since I voiced concern about that from the outset. Now it seems obvious to me that the delay was due to them trying to salvage the recording somehow. I am not only disappointed in their service, but embarrassed that I gave copies to other people. Not to mention that I spent a fair amount of money (I think almost $150) for something that is really not of any value.

Jennifer, thank you for your feedback. In reviewing your Quality Letter, it seems that we did identify a Frame Hold issue with your tape and did indeed spend extra time using numerous different tape machines to get a decent capture out of a tape that was not in great condition. Ultimately, we were transparent about it the flaws upon returning your order and did our best, but we likely should have emphasized the nature of the tape's defects more and encouraged you to review it before distributing the extra copies. We will keep this in mind in the future in instances where we are quite proud of our ability to salvage a tape, but where the final result may be something a client wants to think twice about before distributing.
