“How quickly I got through to an advisor. Sadly an obscene amount of money to change number plate over to my private plate £32 for a 2 minute phone call.”

Hi Richard, I am sorry that you are unhappy with the administration charge when amending your registration number. The fee is in place to cover the costs involved when amending the policy, this includes the time spent by our staff making the amendment and updating the relevant databases such as the underwriter of the policy and the MID. “Received renewal which was 3x previous years BENNETTS premium with no change to circumstances. A comparison site came up with a BENNETTS quote less than £10 more than the previous years premium! It seems to be a Bennetts practice to issue a high renewal premium annually as this happens every year, though this is the first time it has multiplied. I resisted a 'poor' rating as the premium, once revised is very competitive. ALSO, I have had mail and emails subsequently urging me to insure against the high quote, despite having insured with the lower one!! Do you guys communicate with each other?”

“Good customer service on phone, when I managed to reduce my insurance by £40 from the renewal quote. Lucky I called because the renewal quote was too inflated. Had I not decided to call, I would not have continued with Bennetts based on the renewal quote given.”

“I was a bit disappointed as my insurance for a 1000cc was less than a 900cc 5 years older. When I had a quote to put it on my existing policy for 10 months it was £100 dearer. I don't understand the logic?”

“Well they only made me happy once I'd got another quote on comparethemarket.com which was almost 33% cheaper and with Bennetts also. I find it really disappointing that I have to do this every year to save money and you don't feel the need to give me the "cheapest quote available" as your renewal suggests I have already got. Otherwise it's been a good company to use but I must add I've never made a claim or needed too, so who knows.”

“Bennetts made me happy by providing the best available cover at the best price. However, let's not think this is all good because Bennetts should not allow underwriters to deem a bike substitution unacceptable when the only difference is to one a year newer. This was the only change and yet I had to cancel my policy and have Bennetts hold me to ransom on cancellation of the add-on policies. The company then tried to fleece me of another £48 for "outstanding" premium on a monthly paid policy cancelled pro-rata. It might have been an interesting one for the courts to adjudicate on!”

“Cover is good but whatever you do do NOT accept your automatic renewal quote. It will not be the cheapest by a long shot. I saved £130 by querying the amount - which had risen £125 over 32 years with no claims or status changes. Don't be lazy or they will take advantage of you.”

“Made me happy (?) by giving me a 'credit' of £25 of the £50 charged for cancelling my policy early. I purchased another (smaller) motorcycle and wished to transfer my insurance, but found this is no longer possible. The existing policy must be cancelled (cost £50) and a new one taken out. Considering that it is only a matter of changeing a few details on a computer I consider this a gross overcharge. Will I be re-newing... I'll be looking VERY carefully at the cost!”
