I would give this company 0 stars if I could. Please seriously think before you pay out for this as it's an absolute con. I had my insurance cancelled after 9 months (from previous reviews it appears i am lucky to get this far). The reason it was cancelled is because I had the cheek to go on holiday and not sign into the god awful app everyday from the Canary Islands. When trying to explain to them that not only would this be costly but also ridiculous they could only tell me 'it's the policy' - perhaps this was partly my fault for not reading the 42 page PDF document but to save other potential customers from making the same mistake I have decided to post this review. To summarize i would rather s**t in my hands and clap than ever have myself or my family sign up to this absolute scam. Please save your money and go elsewhere.

Told my 19 year first time driver he had been speeding via the black box. No problem with that although he has been very careful and trying to keep his black box numbers in the green. I asked for evidence, maybe GPS co-ordinates linked to a time and date but was sent a screenshot of the road with no reference to his car, so completely useless. They gave us 1 weeks notice of their cancellation which forced us to cancel them first thus incurring their £150.00 cancellation fee. So we have paid nearly £700.00 for 4 months cover. They have skilfully released themselves of any further liabity, great short term business if you can get it. Save yourself time, money and hassle by looking elsewhere.

I will never recommend carrot insurance, dreadful unhelpful money grabbing company. I have been trying to communicate with them about my daughters policy as she is out of the country, they would not allow me to speak with them but they did allow me to pay them no problem, the minute I said that I would pay something they allowed me to engage with them about my daughter’s policy Home mercenary is that!!!! Keep away from carrot insurance is my advice.

Rubbish company as said previous. Takes your money, want excess milage charges then cancel policy if you dont drive 100%. No rewards ever given. My sons got cancelled for couple of minor issues went online and insured with someone else cheaper with no black box. Pity they didnt cancel it earlier. I would have saved loads. I think this company is bogus and run by crooks AVOID at all cost.

DO NOT go with this rip off company, they will take your money and leave young drivers with cancelled insurance as saying their driving is bad, when even I've been in the car and driving perfect still saying driving bad. Please check out trust pilot reviews and you will see the disgusting and illegal things they have done. I work for an insurance company, and carrots insurance practices are horrendous. Check out their defaqto rating aswell its a 2 star policy, would you stay in a 2 star hotel. I wish I had checked them out before I took out insurance for my son. Most reviews on here will be false so I advise u to look at independent reviewers for the correct facts. Complaint logged with them, complaint with FCA and complaint with the ombudsmen logged

Like far too.many others on.here my daughter has had nothing but agro 're her policy, horrendous charging which she was advised had been in error months ago & still waiting on a refund due to no apparent details of that advise given over the phone being available, charged over £300 pound to change car to a new one plus so many more issues!! In the 1st year of her policy which included an address change followed by new car details & made to purchase 1000 in error, she had paid in the region of £3000!!! Absolutely disgusting treatment to new young drivers!! Been advised by the financial ombudsmen carrot are in breach of their contract & she should be able to cancel her policy without being penalised financially which is what we are in the process of doing now!!

We was quoted £1638 online through confused.com and when we went to go ahead with the quote it went up to £2169 which in my eyes is false advertising

After poor service and lack of speed when dealing with a claim, and also after having a warning for going above the speed limit (which was clearly our fault) the service in which we had when we called to cancel the policy was absolutely shocking. Phil of the cancellation department was very rude from the outset of the conversation and quite arrogant about it at the same time. Just based on that alone I will not recommend this company to anyone...Admiral Insurance is much better. Poor service is just poor service!

My Son is insured with Carrot, he always leaves his car at home when going out socially and people have commented on how sensible his driving is, he knows he needs his car for work so is extra careful. As he does not use email we used mine, his fathers when we took the policy out, just recently i received an email saying he had a poor score, before i could advise him i was taken seriously ill and taken to hospital, having now recovered to a degree, i am back at the PC, i have just had another email to say that Carrot are cancelling his insurance for speeding, 32 in a 20. Wrong i know but how harsh, especially knowing that now as a teenager with a policy that has been cancelled by his insurerd, no other company will insure him, end of apprenticeship and a life young mans life ruined. Why are companies allowed to get away with this.

I constantly get bad scores and my driving isnt bad... I sent my documentation over 4 times and still get given a cancellation letter Says no curfew and they said on the phone between 11pm-5Am so when I work twilight shifts I get marked down There mph on roads are back dated got a speeding warning for doing 40 in 30 when road is in fact a 40... Staff take ages to pick up the phone. They charge you loads to pay for more miles. Feel like a right mug... If I had the money to change I would!!!!!!

Stay well away from this insurer. They will take your money and leave you without insurance first sign of trouble.please do yourselves a favour not go to carrot insurance.my daughter has had to drop out of university she s has been left with no hope of going back it's heart breaking. yours sincerely skint

First year of driving in 2016 was brilliant, I loved that I was FREE and INDEPENDENT; oh no but wait, I had a 'big-brother' watching me.. I didn't mind I guess, I mean black box SHOULD make premiums go down.. instead, ended up getting a very negative score for the MORE TIMES I used my car, doesn't sound like Independence? Left after ONE Year, only thing good for them is the NCB. Second year another Insurance quoted me a LOT less with NO black box.. Lovely!! Carrot are not worth it. Find someone better.

App doesn’t calculate overall score for the policy year correctly. Have my insurance with carrot since June 2017. So it’s 22 weeks I am with them. I normally use my car 2/3 times weekly and do short trips. So my weekly trips would be averagely 8 maximum. I always get 10+ every week. So my smoothness always 10+, speed 10+ and usage 10+. I believe out of 22 weeks may be one or two weeks I had average weekly score was around 7 but other 20 weeks my score for the weekly was 10+ always. Now when I have checked my overall score for the policy year yesterday evening was 7.3 and today morning it suddenly drop down to 5.2 without any trips. When I called customer care they told me I have smoothness 5 once in August. My question is how doesn’t they actually calculate it and they had no clue answering it. I am really disappointed with them as they are intentionally dropping customers score down. So my calculation would : if I with them 22 weeks and make 8 trips average week ( 22*8=176 trips). So out of 176 trips just example my smoothness was 10 in 20 times and in two occasion may be 5 and 7. So total smoothness score would be 200+5+7= 212 Same with speed and usage which I think more than that. So 212+212+212= 636 my policy year score and divided it by number of trips, which is 22*8=176 Now total average score for the policy year would be (636/66 (22 weeks *3 category)= 9.6 But they’re showing it 5.2 worst company ever.

Like alot of companies today they are modern take extortionists racketeers. Like Sky whom package the shows that you are like to want to watch in different packages (all done by careful analysis) resulting in having to buy more packages than you wish to get the three shows/channels you do wish to watch Carrot add to their profits by taking money for extra miles over what you conjectured at the beginning you would use. Now where this completely legal and any complaint to the ombudsman would probably go unheard. Is it fair?, something I'm afraid today that is minimised to sour grapes! When you go to the shop to buy milk and bread you do not expect to be forced to buy a 60" telly. However, to be told that should you wish to have broadband that you have accept the caveat of having the price hiked at any time or that you must take it for 24 months - we all accept it. Why? We would just go to another shop and buy the milk. Yet large companies buy up all the competition and we are forced to accept these ludicrous additions and should we decide that their service is poor and decide to go to another shop to buy BB.... We find that does not matter you must pay the months and still pay the new provider or go into black-marked debt. Our governments do not protect us and the large companies back each other down to their UNFAIR policies. Yet, for Carrot to milk a young person for another £200 notes for having the audacity to underestimate how many miles they may do over 12 months is unacceptable and worse for their share-holders, owners and policy-makers make exorbitant profits for themselves from this blatant disregard for their policy holders is a disgrace. Where I am also aware that there are more like them than we would all like does not make it right. And more importantly the more we all accept this their genocidal approach to our purses and wallets - it CAN ONLY GET WORS!

My son has just had his insurance cancelled with this company for absolute nothing, DO NOT USE this company pay a bit extra go elsewhere. He has been constantly underscored even when he wasn't in the car , and when they can actually be bothered to ansewerd the phone he has been told to get the police , because someone has stolen his car MY boy is so upset he scraped & saved to get this car & the insurance , I'm just so sad he picked this company , but this is a con & you will be taken to task I'm complaining to the insurance omnibus as I write this this company will not get away with this much longer , please don't use carrot

Im not sure they even deserve 1 star !!! absolutely shocking, we have been completely mis-sold this insurance. We did research before taking out insurance as was vaguely aware that some black box insurance companies enforce curfews or premiums can increase with bad driving we opted to go for Carnot as their policy advised they only reward good drivers there was no mention that they could cancel the policy... having read a lot of reviews on the internet this is not a 1 off!! they also sent my 17 year old son a loan agreement to sign....
