Avoid this insurance company. They take advantage of young inexperienced drivers. My son has had his insurance cancelled due to speeding. The black box is clearly faulty as I was in the car with him and this was not the case. This box needs to be checked for accuracy. Young drivers stay away from them.

I've been with carrot for way over a year. I renewed my insurance with them in April just because I wasn't able to find a quote cheaper elsewhere. In my first year I did get a good amount of rewards back however since renewing my insurance and driving the exact same I only seem to be getting £6 back. In my first year I had to buy extra miles even though I don't understand how I used up over 1000 miles in October considering I hadn't driven my car at all that month so they had an extra £100 from me. In July I moved 20 minutes up the road and my insurance seemed to go up by £90 but when I then did a quote on their website I found one for £30 more than I was originally paying, I questioned this and was told if I wanted that quote I had to cancel my insurance and pay the deposit for that quote to be able to get it! Paying £236 a month insurance on a 2004 corsa. I then got a newer car in December I had to pay almost £400 to change over the insurance and black box which is an absolute rip off!! So in less than a year I worked out they had had almost £3,000 off of me! I called in march to renew my policy and also questioned why I had been pestered about having to buy extra mileage back in October considering I hadn't even driven my car, the lady apparnetly raised this with the manager and I was promised a call back, 5 months down the line I still haven't had a call back! Also when I renewed my insurance the date for the payments to come out is the 18th however they have only ever taken the payment on this date once. I contacted carrot regarding this and was told 'this is nothing to do with us you need to contact close brothers'. Because of their failure to take the payment on the correct date I missed a payment for the first time, received a letter saying I will have a £30 charge added on top of the missed payment. I'm 36 weeks pregnant and this really stressed me out stress I don't really need so my mum called close brothers on my behalf and a lovely guy had spoken to the manger and agreed to take off the charge and confirmed there was a miss communication between themselves and carrot regarding the date and had confirmed from now on the payments will be taken on the 18th which is when it is meant to be taken, this was a relief. My mum then called carrot after to discuss the call back due in march a lady called Samantha told my mum that there is defiantly something weird going on and that I am surely due some sort of refund for things I'm paying for that I didn't need was told she would call Friday or Monday it's now Wednesday still no call back. And to top it off carrot have taken the missed payment WITH the £30 charge:) I'd stay away from these! They also took an early payment from my boyfriend which he missed due to the fact I wasn't taken on the correct date, they sent a letter with a date for the payment to be retaken only for them to then take it 1 week early they then cancelled his insurance without telling him so he was driving around for 4 days without insurance!! They then had the cheek to renew his policy in February bearing in mind he had sold his car!!!

REWARDING INSURANCE?? FALSE ADVERTISING!! So I spend a year driving carefully trying to achieve the best scores possible, which at times can be tricky as the telematics box is unreliable, to increase my rewards and discount on my insurance renewal and when I go to renew, despite my good score, the cheapest they can offer me is £45 pound more than last year!!!!! On the app I was on course for atleast 22% discount and when it comes to it I get charged more. I have been absolutely robbed and my year of limiting my driving and driving as careful as possible was for absolutely nothing. On top of this the customer service times are disgusting, no matter what day or time of day you will be waiting at the very least 15 minutes!! REWARDING INSURANCE??False advertisement at its finest!!!

If im completely honest this service should be cut off! Speeding? When I was at work and not even in the same town as my car! Then tried to say someone else must have been driving? Then didn't notify me when a claim was made against me...when the claim was a load of rubbish. Charging me over priced quotes, being told one thing then another. DO NOT GET INSURANCE FROM THIS COMPANY! Nothing but stress and worry which isn't needed with today's society considering what is actually happening in the world! Absolutely outrageous service and nothing but problems!

what didn't go wrong, you have basically lied every time I have spoken to you and now you are trying to back track and charge me more money once I have cancelled, even threatening bailiffs!!!! if this is the way you treat people you do not deserve to be in business. sending threatening daily calls and emails to a 19yr old girl is nothing short of disgraceful.

Disgusting service. Black box is not accurate, says you're speeding when you aren't. Low score for short journeys yet I only work a 5 minute drive from home... refused to renew my insurance due to low score but low score given unfairly. Spend at least 40 minutes on hold. DO NOT USE THEM. Worst experience.

Insuranced my daughter after just passing her test,bought from compare the market saw 4 1/2 star reviews so thought good will go with them. Due to personal circumstances we needed to cancel 10 days in,read through all the policy documents ,it read cancel within 14 days to receive full refund .except for cancellation of black box £50 and admin £35 so £85 in total .Rang them and asked to cancel policy said ok the charges will be £222.39???!!!!!!! Asked why ?? Was told cancellation fee £150 I said no it's within 14 days she said that's changed now ???!!!! What in 10 days !!! I said I'll send certificate of insurance back as stated in policy cancellation section , which you have to do to insure policy cancelled . To be told no you don't need too anymore we've changed that just shred it!!!!???? I explained that my paper work in front of me states charges ,and said not happy with charges to be told read booklet page 5 .we never received a booklet with our policy documents .im very upset to have lost this money companies like this should not be allowed to do this .It's dreadful.I would advice anyone to steer clear of this company as they charge what they like and make up the rules as they go along???!!!

Absolutely shocking insurance company !! Been with carrot for 2 years and I've had nothing but bad issues and unnecessary stress because of them ! I am relieved to say I am leaving carrot now after 2 years of terrible experiences and I would not recommend these people to anyone let alone new drivers who they take the mickey out of ! I have always drove sensible and in my first year received 260 pounds in rewards for good driving. Only for the 2nd year to be violated not receive a penny all year for driving exactly the same yet being scored terribly on every journey ! No point in ringing to complain or fight your corner as you get spoken to by an unprofessional and not helpful individual whom just makes you more angry at the situation!! Carrot you are shocking and my experience for 2 years has been dreadful !!! :@

Shocking insurance company!!! Recieved an email today stating my insurance policy is cancelled within 7 days due to me speeding when my driving score on my dashboard are all 10 out of 10 con insurane scamming company! Never relieved my quartley rewards, customer service shocking not interested, now I can't get insured anywhere due t it going up to £5000!

just before my insurance ends literally ONE WEEK ! Carrot cancels my insurance saying i was speeding when I clearly was not! Now I can not have the no claims. Have messed up my insurance meaning hardly any insurances will take me and if they do it will cost a fortune because I have been cancelled and have no no claims!!! AVOID THEIR BLACK BOX!! Literally started getting red points closer to the end of my insurance! it was green through the whole year!on top of that you dont get your reward points money back they keep it! please young new drivers stay away and be careful! otherwise you will be in my position of having to start fresh again paying 2 times more than what you did before!

AVOID AVOID AVOID IF YOUNG DRIVER!!!!!!!! After getting my first car and accepting the fact that a black box was going to be the best route for me and saving money I decided to insure with carrot. After about 3 months of driving I received a warning notifying me about my speeding and stating that one more offence I would have my policy cancelled. From then on I avoided speeding as it was clear that the black box was incredibly sensitive and the insurance company was strict. It soon became apparent after 9 months of driving that this company came to show there true colours. I received an email roughly 2 weeks after another speeding offence, I was un aware of a 20 zone so carried on at 30mph. This was enough for carrot to cancel my insurance policy. Being 19 and like most other young people/students insurance is expensive enough. Now after cancelling my insurance due to a minor mistake my insurance quotes come it at £3,500 grand a year. This is a hideous amount for someone my age to pay for a clear mistake. I do not drive badly at all. Trying to get hold of carrot is a nightmare and you are placed on hold for hours. They cap your mileage based on your estimate per annum and charge extortionate prices for extended your mileage allowance. On top of this, for cancelling my insurance carrot sent an email demanding £50 on top of the now £3,500 minimum raised premiums. They offered a monthly installment for 3 months though so its fine. If I can offer any advice it would be to AVOID CARROT LIKE THE PLAGUE. They seem have infinite small print and hidden costs for issues nearly everyone experiences and have an overly strict policy that will cause endless hassle for young drivers leaving you unable to drive unless you have a wage slip equivalent to that of a stable 40 year old. Definitely not for young drivers.Pay the extra grand or so for insurance without the black box from the start and save yourself the hassle of costs down the line and the hassle me, and what seems like half their customers have experienced. (read other reviews and look how many have had the same problem).

Do not recommend at all my sons insurance with these is been cancelled in the next 7 days due to him doing 31 mph in a 20 mph area which he adamant he never but his app only shows his driving the past few days so he cant prove it, he apparently had been told by text which he never received. Seems like a lot have had theirs cancelled for the same reason bit of a coincidence everyone has been doing 31 in a 20 and dont get no letter or anything absolute disgrace wish i had read the reviews of this company beforehand

Just been told my son was speeding and as we have notified you before will now be cancelling your policy.This is the first we have heard about so called speeding and have only heard from Carrot about upping our miles quota.Whats going on I have a feeling they don't want to hand out any discounts due at the end of the year.

From the get go I had nothing but problems with Carrot. When filing my policy I had accidently put a typo in the date I obtained my driving licence, i.e. something along the lines of 5/6/16 rather than 4/6/16 and as a result of this carrot made me pay an additional charge monthly with my premium. Whenever I wanted to speak to carrot customer services which over my year policy was perhaps 5/6 times I would spend between 30-40 minutes on hold and in some cases an additional 25 minutes on hold after being put through to another sector of carrot. I also had an accident with a claim and I gave sufficient evidence to show that I was not at fault with this claim. However Carrot showed little interest in fighting my side, even though this is what I paid and extortionate monthly rate for them to do. This claim has been directed at me for the fault, however 10 months later I am still waiting to receive the details of this claim. This has hindered my next 12 months policy when applying for insurance elsewhere. I have very little to thank Carrot for and would not suggest starting a policy with Carrot Insurance. I would suggest spending a little more each month or year to insure with another Company.

Terrible service, would stay well away!! Black box has to be inaccurate, records routes I didn't travel and now a speed I never travelled at they are cancelling my policy!! Had a minor bump with a taxi driver recently and can't help thinking this is why my policy is being cancelled. Companies who don't value customers won't be around for long

Rubbish, told my son they had sent a "communication" about his driving and now cancelled his policy, less than one month short of his full year. He never received any communication and a few weeks earlier had spoken to an advisor to add more miles which was agreed as "everything was fine" he will now lose his job because his premiums to reinsure elsewhere run to thousands, and this is unfair as he was never told of a problem

Please please please go to another company! I chose this company as a first time driver as it was my cheapest quote but I would rather be paying double what I am paying now, The service is appalling - I am under threat from having my policy cancelled as you need a black box fitted within 14 days and its been 21 - I have called 6 times, during those 14 days to make an appointment and have this sorted and have had 2 no shows and a cancellation and when i tried to complain I was refused the right - I have tried cancelling the policy before it is cancelled without my consent - please avoid this company its a waste of time and money
