My score went from 7 out of 10 down to -2 out of 10 over the space of 1 or 2 short journeys during which I drove at exactly the same standard as before. Which happened at the time I was due to receive my money back reward. Makes me think the money back reward is just a selling point and isn't actually as good as it's made out to be!

Awful customer service. Tried to make a claim, they did not process it. Rang next day to be told you have to pay excess first, and admin fees before they will even consider the claim!

The black box is so restrictive, getting your license is Ment to be fun and you have a new found freedom, but then you get a black box and everything changes, even a tiny pothole can give you bad driver points. You end up spending your money not to drive you car, would not recommend it, I wouldent have one if other company's didunt charge so much

Was fine to begin with. The Black box was fitted promptly and emails with any queries were answered within 1-2 days. However, as time went on, nearer the end of the first quarter, I started noticing inaccurate readings. I was scored -10 for speed when driving within the speed limit. I went for a 10 minute drive locally, when I got home, my driving score for that particular journey was 10/10. When checking before bed it had gone down and said that I went for a 4 AND A HALF HOUR JOURNEY!!! I was in my house the whole entire time. I emailed for this to be resolved, no reply. I then noticed the next day, my driving score was 7, this then went down to 5 somehow. When looking at this I then noticed that I had been scored a -7 for speed and 4 for usage for a journey I DIDN'T EVEN MAKE. I think this is ridiculous. How am I supposed to trust any of the other scores? If I was driving badly, this insurance company would be quick enough to take my money and cancel my policy. Because they are the ones who are liable for this, they refuse to answer me or resolve the problem even when I have emailed twice. I REFUSE TO RENEW MY POLICY WHEN IT FINISHES.

Absolutely awful. It's a scam. Don't do it. They robbed my money and cancelled my insurance for no reason and I didn't get my money back. Don't go with carrot!!

I am fast approaching the end of my first year of driving and I have to say, Carrot Insurance have not made this new experience pleasant or easy. The staff are all lovely and helpful so I can not fault them. However, expect to wait on hold for up to and in excess of half an hour to be connected to their call centre. They also have restricted opening hours which means for people like myself who work 8-5, and commute for an hour either way, it is almost impossible to speak to a human, rather than a computerised, automated message. The prices for top up miles I also find extortionate. The company is aimed at new drivers - typically I assume 17-20 (approx.) I am an apprentice so am already struggling to pay the £1400 policy, without then requiring to pay out almost £300 on top of that for excess miles! When I had exceeded the miles, I was not notified by text or email, or a phone call I was simply sent a letter giving me 7 days before they'll cancel the policy. I may well have had an email but I am none the wiser as I have called 3 times to have my email changed over, yet it still hasn't been. Super upset and disappointed by my entire experience. Despite the intial upfront price sounding promising, I have been charged extra meaning I could have afforded a non-telematics policy! Poor way to run a company.

Appalling ! Had a phone call for box installation my only day off for that week was a Friday which they said they couldn't do so would have to be the Tuesday that I work , said they could fit it at work which is not doable for me as I work at a secure hospital and can't have random people coming in and out. Had to have it that day or they said would run over my 2 weeks so had to take a day off work as was just told it would be fitted sometime in the afternoon which was very helpful. I can deal with all that but what really tipped me over the edge was the fact the man who fitted the box left my cream seats filthy and damaged my steering!! When I went to use the car it made all kinda of knocking / grinding / popping noises when I steered ! Another man came out to fix it a couple days later so had to find transport to work that day and leave my mum to sort it all out. Man re installed the box and admitted it was there fault and hadn't been fitted correctly yet I haven't been offered any compensation for it ! Only compensated 10 pounds to clean dirty seat myself which I only got after having to chase it up! The amount of hassle and aggregation for the amount of money paid for insurance is beyond a joke

First of all I'd like to say what a crap company carrot is! I first had them insure my corsa after a few months the black box stopped working and stopped recording my journeys,I rang them up 4 times to try and get them to sort it out, they just kept promising they will get back to me and they never did, I drove a whole month without any of my journeys being recorded and finally after a month and a bit they sorted it.Half way through my policy I got a new car and got them to change he policy. The scoring system makes no sense at all! It's like they pull numbers out of nowhere! You could get a 10 for speed 10 for smoothness but if you get a 9 for usage the overall score of that journey autamatcly changes to 9.2 how does that work out?! Also I work in a bar which means I sometimes finish a bit later. I drove at 11, got a 10 for speed a 10 for smoothness but a -3 for usage. What was I supposed to do walk home?! NO CURFEWS they said? Also I have noticed they put scored down in usage at rush hour so if you're driving at 9, 3:30 or 5 expect the usage to be 6. This company seem to make a lot of promises that just aren't great! If you're thinking of driving to do the shopping for half an hour forget about it because youl get a low score for usage because you're using the car too much, making too many journeys in a short amount of time. So to conclude this whole thing -carrot insurance are crap -I would never insure or recommend anyone to go with this insurance company -I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy -you think you drove well? Probably won't get recorded -driving at night? Expect a bad score -want to ring them up? Crap customer service -want to ask the insulation man a question? Don't bother apparently it's got nothing to do with him, he just installs them -need to go to the shop for half an hour and back? Expect a bad score because you can't make too many journeys -do you drive around 9/3/5? Bad score

This insurance company is appalling. I have had recurrent problems from this company from the start. Firstly I was not notified at all about the iBox as I used a price compare site to compare all the insurance companies and it did not say in the policy anything about the iBox. I found out about it when they rang me up to book 'installing' it. The installation was fine but when I went to check my driving score about 2 weeks later it said I was doing no miles at all. They had not at any point notified me of this. I had to ring to myself and arrange for it to be fixed in the fear it would affect my insurance. Originally they thought it was a computer issue but after about 2 weeks they notified me it was the box not working. I then had to arrange for the box to be properly fitted a second time. Secondly, they wanted copies of my driving licence and PDF counter part 3 times because they 'lost it' on an email! when I tried to reason that I had already sent it to them twice they HAD to have it again. Thirdly, with their 'carrot card' there was no information about how to obtain it. I emailed them about this and they sent me one in the post but you need a pin to actually work it and this was not supplied at all. Now 6 months into my agreement they want proof of 2 years no claims in 7 days or £410.51. If I do not comply with this they are threatening to cancel my policy. I do not recommend this insurance company at all. Their staff are both incompetent and rude and their whole company is very unprofessional as whole. I have never had an apology or compensation for any of these issues. Needless to say I will not continue as a customer when my insurance is due for renewal.

This company is a con They don't sort claims out, they keep you waiting for months so you can't cancel your insurance. The staff are awful and they do not have a clue, further your on hold for at least an hour prior to any phone call. The ibox is inaccurate, it marks you down for nothing although I kept my score high as there is a way. Honestly I would not go near this company.

I arranged insurance for our 18 year old son, arranging cover was fairly straight forward they offered what on the face of it was one of the best quotes. That is where the good bits end,we arranged the black box, when the guy arrived he questioned the tinted glass, but went ahead, for some reason after a month our policy was cancelled, their fault, we arranged a second policy, a new box had to be fitted, by now because of a buckled wheel we had put a new set of wheels on the car 'ALLOYS' the guy came to fit the box, the same guy, he took pictures of the wheels, the tinted glass and the sticker on the back, UP YOURS CORSA, he refused to fit the box. Carrot rang us and explained because we had enhanced the performance of the car, enhanced in what way I asked, YOU HAVE FITTED A STICKER AND ALLOYS AND HAVE TINTED GLASS, yes I asked but how has any off that enhanced the performance, IT JUST HAS THEY SAID, yOU FITTED THE BOX THE FIRST TIME WITH TINTED GLASS, WE WOULD NOT HAVE DONE THAT BECAUSE THAT WOULD ENHANCE THE PERFORMANCE. I asked again how we could possible enhance the performance by fitting wheels and a sticker and tinted glass, none of which are connected to the engine and would not enhance the performance. THEY DO THEY INSISTED. What a joke of a company and please remember every short journey you do you add penalty points, even if that journey was along journey it could be classed as short. all in all I would never recommend this company for all of the above reasons, plus the customer support is worse than BT and that is awful, so stear clear at all costs, THEY ARE A JOKE JOHN MCSHERRY

Dashboards constantly giving wrong readings. Trying to get the dashboards altered result in numerous calls to customer services who just lie and try to fob you off. Very poor company to deal with.

Since my black box has been installed I have had nothing but trouble... They came out to have a look at it after it was feeding back that I used the car for 10 to 12 hours at a time and found that the box installed was faulty.. The box was replaced and is now still not working. It logs nothing now... I have informed the insurance but had no feedback in 7 days.. I have only just taken out the insurance with them and I paid in full so I will he sticking with them until the end of the year however I will be looking elsewhere once it is up

TERRIBLE DO NOT TOUCH THIS COMPANY WE GOT CHARGED ATTENTIONAL £550 for changing our vehicle to a lower group insurance. Got quoted a week before £300 less when we purchased the new car rang and asked to change the policy the price had nearly doubled. Have just spoken to a Girl called Alison who informed me that they are just brokers and it depends on which underwriter they talk to. Asked about the cooling off period and there isnt one After adding more miles this policy has cost us £600 and it expires in March TOTAL CON DO NOT BUY FROM THEM LISTEN TO THE REVIEWS I WISH WE HAD
