absolutely terrible, messed up my first payment which they admitted to but then said I owed them money for paying late? also had to bribe the guy to put my blackbox on as I had a "dude I almost had you" sticker on the back of my car which would "void" my insurance ????

Do not be fooled people this company is a total scam... Every positive comment on here is a hoax. They are worse company ever. All they want is your money, heaven forbid your actually in a crash and need help. Keep an eye on watch dog people they have received more complains about carrot than any other!! Avoid like the plague!!!!!!

Had an existing policy with carrot, and when it came up for renewal I only received 1 email saying my end date of policy which was months before ending, so no phone call or txt to remind me. Also the most important information that I needed to know was that they don't automatically renew your policy, which they advise at the bottom of the email, should be at the top. ????. Driving score has gone after renewing my policy, also they charge money to top up my reward card. New car and new insurance company is on the cards. ????. Would not recommend this company to anyone.

I was with this company and they cancelled me the day I made a payment, told me I was going to receive my deposit and the payment I made back but only received a small fraction of the amount due to a cancellation fee. This company is crap and I wouldn't reccomend.

It's not far off being a scam. Had to pay £450 for my first month and had 14 days to have the black box fitted. Well first off, they arranged a time and date to come and fit the black box and I actually booked a day off work just so I could be there to assist, when the mechanic never showed up I rang them up and they said there must have been some complications and re arranged for a week later, so not only am I a day down on my holidays now but I have also wasted a day as I couldn't do anything because I was too busy waiting for their lazy, uneducated partners to come and fit the box. The next week they came and have now declined me insurance because I have stickers on my car... yes you read it right.. stickers. Even the poor woman who had to ring me up to inform me sounded embarrassed to read it out.. and because my Renault badge is red. How this could possibly make me a danger on the road I have no idea, and frankly, I don't even want to know, the reason for declining itself is that stupid I think I lost IQ just listening to it, never mind whatever pathetic reasoning stands behind it. They said they were going to cancel my insurance but because I have my head screwed on, and it is still within the 28 day cancellation period where I will receive some of my money back, I thought I would do the honours of cancelling it myself, no chance I am losing a full £450. Avoid like the plague. They will find any excuse to rob you out of a bit of hard earned cash. Take your customs elsewhere. This company looks good at first sight, but it looks even better in your rear view mirror.

my son has carrot insurance and it's been nothing but trouble. the box isn't as great as it sounds. if u live in an area where the roads are bumpy your score will never be great as it goes on smoothness as well as speed and usage. previous score of +10 were then changed by the next day, we have tried ringing them about some issues but their departments close at a stupid time so most people at work can't get hold of them. they do NOT reply to emails. my son was in an accident last week and so far the claim dept have yet to decide what to do. always over predict your mileage as top ups can be expensive. the phone calls have cost me over £10 contacting them in a couple of days. I as a mum thought it would be great keeping tabs on my son but I can not wait for this years insurance to be over so we can go with someone else who is cheaper.

I have received emails and 2 letters threatening to cancel my insurance as they say I have not sent them various documentation. I have sent all the relevant documents 3 times to 2 different email addresses given to me by a carrot agent over the phone. Ridiculous ,wish I had insured with someone else!

Don't touch them. My son purchased his first car and took insurance out with Carrot. Guy comes to fit the black box and informs my son that the tinted rear window wasn't factory fitted, being a naive new motorist my son simply hadn't realised. To cut a long story short, the company cancelled his insurance, and despite him having the tinting removed won't reinsure him. The worst of it is that when he asks for quotes from other insurers now, he has to declare that he has had insurance cover cancelled / refused, therefore sending quotes even more sky high.

these scumbags sold my daughter a policy with 3000 miles limit for £1300 allthough she told them she would be living at home in oxford but mainly at universty in north wales a 500 mile round trip yet the rep she dealt with failed to explain to her that this policy was totally and utterly unsuitable as she would need double or maybe trebble that amount of mileage , bear in mind she had just passed her test ,was 18 years old and obviously had no idea of what she needed ,within two months she used up those miles and had to purchace 1000 extra miles at a cost of £150 then within a few weeks they said shed used almost 900 of these miles she was devastated and knew shed not even done 50 miles ,we then had to spend many hours calling them and waiting on hold only to be fobbed off, treated like an idiot , and getting no help at all ,eventually they admitted stealing nearly 900 miles from her saying it was a simple error but as yet many weeks later offered no explanation or evidence of where the miles went these people are thieving dogs and i advise everyone to steer well clear of them

Don't be tempted by the seemingly low price! Ridiculous charges may occur, bonus system is flawed to give lowest possible payout, encourages walking alone in unsafe areas at night to save your "score" takes points off every time you go over a country road, absolutely horrendous and I'll be glad when I've got my 1 years NCD so I can leave!

People who are giving 5* obviously work 4 this company! Broke every rule you could think of. Never returned calls, spoke about my policy with others before asking my permission to discuss my policy. When asked to speak with a manager they never seem to be available so say they will give a 24 hour call back and not bother!! This company is a rip off and I advise you to stay well clear!!

Absolutely disgusting car insurance. My younger sister insured herself with this company without realising a box had to be fitted. As soon as she realised she got in contact straight away to arranged a date but the woman (katie toorley) was rude and told her they was cancelling her policy. When my sister tried to arrange something with them they just threw it back in her face, leaving her in tears. When I phoned up to try and speak to them they broke data protection by not speaking with my sister first to allow them to discuss the policy with me. DO NOT GET INSURED WITH THIS COMPANY ITS A SCAM!!!

nephew got insurance with carrot, it's been nearly 2 weeks and they've only just decided to fit the black box, the black box fitter turns up (who as it turns out is a bit of jobsworth), refuses to fit the box claiming the car is modified, and them proceeded to contact HQ (instead of advising us of the issues so we could fix them ie the peugeot gti alloy wheels and peugeot gti rear spoiler, which has very little difference to the standard one with slightly darkened rear brake light lenses), a short while later carrot contact my nephew to inform him the policy will be cancelled in 7 days and he will be blacklisted unless he cancels the insurance himself within this time. So I phoned them to see if we could rectify the issues they raised (basically taking the car back to complete factory standard) which wouldn't have taken longer than an hour as we have a donor car for parts, anyway they told me that even if we did resolve the issues they wasn't interested in carrying on the policy. Is it me or does this seem very petty as I was more than prepared to put everything right?? They even said that most insurance companies would have allowed us to, but it's not part of their policy.

Customer service sucks, never return calls concerning problems with black box from day one, car is now a time machine, box says it was out for 11 hours then next score says out for 8 hours, next score 1 hour 45 mins, so putting car on ebay listing it as a car with built in time machine, also box saying car is out when parked on drive. Scoring towards end of policy is untrue, you get a good score 1st quarter then its down hill from there. Never again will I use carrot insurance and if you just passed your test avoid

my driving score suddenly goes down when the realise the have to pay out rewards and box's knock you score for smoothness even tho it a back road and around me the roads a very rough

AWFUL!! Paid for a full year in full, then had to pay another £200 on two separate occasions as they said I went over my mirage, for them to tell me it was an it problem with my box so I hadn't gone over, however was to late for a refund! I had a crash which was not my fault and all I got was a voice mail to tell me I'd have to go somewhere else if I wanted to claim as they wouldn't do it. Lost my carrot card, claimed a new one had to pay 5pounds for it for them then to tell me they couldn't replace it as I had moved house in the meantime even though my policy had been updated! Never had so many issues with an insurance company before... You get what you pay for.. Cheap, awful service and end up being a rip off anyway!!! Stay clear!

Not a good company to insure with, make false promises and their boxes are "very sensitive" meaning it will give rubbish scores so they don't have to pay out any money. Insure elsewhere.
