Awful company, the worst of the worst. My wife lost a 9 carat gold and diamond watch. The watch was no longer available new, only second hand. The value of this was set at £595. The policy says "new for old" however the tiny small print says when the product is no longer available they'll only pay out on the second hand value or nearest equivalent. So they have got out of paying new (where can you get a 9 carat diamond watch for £595!!) Its a minimum of £1500 for a new such watch. We've been well and truly stitched up - this will apply to lots of items - whenever these items are no longer made, they'll just offer you peanuts as second hand value not "NEW FOR OLD" at all. Beware and AVOID this company AT ALL COSTS

I tried to make a claim after my roof blew off in high winds. Told I'm not covered as it wasn't windy enough. I telephoned to complain and to request investigation re claim as I'm taking it further. Told customer services would be in touch. 7 days later I telephoned again told would be 7 days again. The service they are giving is atrocious. I will never insure with them again and I will be going to the press.

Lots of fees and poor customer service, I will not be using this insurance company again. Beware of the hidden fees they charge.

We had a total power loss no hot water heating etc. which was reported at 1pm Sunday to Halifax's emergency team who have an SLA of 4 hour's after literally hours on the phone to them (you cant get through over 20 mins on hold every time) we eventually had an electrician arrive at 11.20pm on Monday night who left at 1.20am, the fault wasn't rectified until Wednesday morning we were lied to fobbed off & offered the desultory sum of £100 to cover inconvenience & loss of food in freezer. Appalling service.

A charge of £12.90 when I told Halifax that I would not be renewing my policy in 22 days time as I was moving house in 5 days time. I was not allowed to run the policy out to the end of term as I would not be living in my current home when the policy ended. They told me that if I did not pay the early cancellation fee a letter for the balance would be sent to me which I could apparently ignore. I could only imagine that if I did ignore it then I would either get a county court order or perhaps bad credit rating. Really not impressed with their treatment of the situation.

Beware. Cover with Halifax Insurance isn’t always what it seems. Be wary if listing a bicycle that you believe is worth more than £500 as a specified item. I had - before it was stolen - a bike that would now cost £700+ to replace. So, I listed it as a specified item at £700, incurring an additional premium. After it was stolen, my claim was accepted and I was directed to a “validation service” who said the current version of my bike is apparently built to a higher specification so they could only offer me a bike they said is to an equivalent spec to mine ... worth just £500. So I needn’t have bothered to specify my bike as special and pay the extra premium!!! Not happy. Next - cash settlement value is just £368 “in view of supplier discounts”. What? ... so, at the end of the day, I will receive about half the amount that the bike was insured for. Good deal for Halifax. Bad deal for me.

I consider your renewal premium too expensive. When I rang to cancel you reduced the premium but when I still wasn't happy you didn't put me under any pressure to continue with Halifax. A nice surprise.

I have Buildings and Contents insurance with Halifax. We have water damage to the kitchen ceiling from a leak somewhere in the bathroom above. Halifax say they won't even send anyone to look at the problem until we have had a plumber cut holes in the kitchen ceiling and try to find the leak and repair it ( bathroom is fully tiled floor) If plumber can't find the leak they will consider the job ! They will not pay for the plumbers call out or work and then they charge £500 excess for any water damage problems anyway. So basically "get the problem fixed yourselves and then call us and we'll do some redecorating and charge you the first £500 " What is the point of their insurance ! ?

Their mortgage and complaints department are a bunch of useless incompetent morons. Arrogant and unhelpful, they are thieving scumbags. Do not trust them with your money. Poor customer services and arrogant.

I took out my car insurance a year ago with Halifax, when I did I ticked the box to say that I did not want my insurance to automatically renew after the twelve months was up. Well twelve months is up and they have took the money for an extortionate renewal without my permission. I am told that it will be four weeks before I get back my money. On contacting them I found that their attitude was awful. I will never use a Halifax company again.

Storm damage to my front room and ceiling needed replaced. Surveyor came out and implied my wife had to t ale the cash which was significantly less then it would have been to repair. Eventually got that overturned and got the insurance to repair it. My furniture had to be taken away and cleaned and stored until job was complete and I took pictures of furniture prior to uplift to ensure everything was recorded. On job completion and furniture returned my 2 leather settees were not scratched, standard lamp was snapped, wooden blinds damaged, 2 coffee tables scratched and dented and coloured in to try and hide the marks, tv scratched and dented. Thousands of pounds of damage and Halifax can back and said no case to answer even with the photographs before collection and the removal men’s chit highlighting no damage on any items. Shocking, customer service shocking. I was told point blank. If your not happy go to the financial ombudsman. Do not go with this company.
