Installed a black box in sons car. Acceleration now down to 0 despite braking and speed being very good. Only a month left to run on policy so I imagine this figure has been fixed so you can cancel the policy. I am a DSA Driving instructor and have hours of video evidence to prove my son has been driving in an acceptable manner. I also have been driving this vehicle in an acceptable manner..... This is a warning to Hastings that I am in the process of taking my proof to a solicitor and to the insurance ombudsmen. Hastings are clearly defrauding their customers out of millions by selling and cancelling policies without giving any refunds and charging customers hundreds of pounds for worthless black boxes.

My renewal quote was lower than all the other insurers I considered moving to but with the same benefits as before

It was okay, hastings told me that they would see why my acceleration wasnt moving off 0, however they did not get back in touch with me.

We had a rocky start due to Hastings not receiving my emails with identification and NCD attached then they started charging me too much, however it all got resolved after several phone calls and emails. Since then they have been amazing, someone crashed into me and they supported me through that, I love the app for smartmiles, I?ve had no problems with my box and it isn?t visible at all. Due to scoring well with my black box my renewal quote was HUNDREDS of pounds (?400+) cheaper than any other insurance company, so I am super happy with that. Thanks for a great year Hastings Direct Smartmiles.

Awful. Clearly their software is designed to give you a bad score and with a braking score of zero there is no way that my driving can be that bad. Especially when I have been driving for 40 years. Completely manufactured, contrived and dishonest scam.

Very unhappy with the service from Hastings Direct. They automatically renewed my policy and took money out of my account without giving me any proper warning. They were also very unhelpful whenever I called customer services with an issue. Would never recommend.

We do send out our renewal invitations 28 days before your policy is due to renew and as a responsible insurer we will always renew a policy to ensure you are always covered. Good insurer to start off on a black box. Their customer service team were very helpful when it came to answering questions about my policy and the black box worked well when I had a near miss and came off the road. I was called promptly after and was asked questions regarding the incident. It went well because nothing had been hit or damaged and I did not need to make a claim, and the person on the phone to me was very understanding.
