No hassle renewal. Very helpful staff. Useful reminders but didn't feel pressured. Really pleased that I was able to purchase no claims protection after just one year and the cost of renewal was unbeatable. 10/10

Not a happy bunny at all, after calling them regarding my policy in 2016 and the curfew they have in place they told me if I was to continue to drive within the hours of 10:30pm-5:00am they would cancel my policy or put my premium up, bare in mind I'm a student and was working part time within theses hours I find this disgraceful! They must expect you to keep your car on the drive and never drive it; oh and not to mention the statistics they keep on there system regarding your breaking, acceleration and speed (that is not one bit accurate) they only reduced my quote in 2017 by a whopping ?45 where and the year before they more than halved it, it's literally one problem after the other! Unless you want to keep your car on the drive and pay through the roof for your insurance then DON'T TAKE OUT YOUR POLICY WITH THESE!!!

It is important to understand that we intentionally want to keep you from driving after 10pm as this is when the most and worst accidents happen. In exchange for safer driving, your insurer will be able to reduce more from your next premium.? ~Joe

Before my insurance is due to start I have already had problems. Rude calls, Box sent to wrong address, complaint ignored, received threatening e mails (WE HAVE CANCELLED YOUR POLICY due to not having box fitted on time) (this just after the box was fitted on time). What an abysmal excuse for an insurance company!

I have found the service to be very useful for younger drivers like myself. After a year of driving, my insurance price dropped by half because of my driving score which I was very pleased with. However, the scores soon drop if you do something wrong.

Much like all the previous reviews, I wish I'd searched reviews before I'd paid for this. I was actually told on the phone by customer services when I enquired why my braking score has been zero for 4 weeks that it can go into the minus...however you can't go above a hundred if you're driving well! This is misleading and as such I think many of us have been mis-sold the product. I've been unduly penalised for driving once in 3 weeks after 10pm for an hour...my score has gone down to 64 which is grossly disproportionate. THIS PRODUCT IS NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE.

I would use Hastings Direct SmartMiles service again. The website is easy to use, and if any other queries, they can be phoned and they deal with issues very efficiently and promptly.

Hastings Smart miles have helped me a lot in being a young new driver, a very appreciated discount was knocked off for my second year although there was some confusion about the payment as they had taken it a day early and so I hadn't amended the details, and I also received an email saying I hadn't renewed my insurance when it had clearly been renewed; although it did say my account was ?0.00 to pay so I didn't worry. Overall I think they are a good insurer and especially helpful for young drivers like me.

What can I say, we used this insurance for my 18 year old son when he past his test in March and had exactly the same experience that others have shared. Three trips after 10pm resulting in a score of 18 that would not shift and a letter saying score below 40, and 200 miles to improve. We counted our losses and moved insurer, yes it was a loss with cancellation fee of £25 and £250 for the telematics box that is simply not fit for purpose! It is shocking that they continue to get away with this, please don't waste your money, time and most importantly impact your new drivers morale. My advice stay well clear and get insured elsewhere!!
