I have been waiting over a week for some important documentation that has still not arrived. I have sent several emails to which I have received NO replies. Every time I ring them, I am put in a queue and kept waiting for who knows how long before I give up. I don’t have time to keep waiting. I am absolutely fed-up with this, and am very very unhappy ☹️

Why oh why do this company take so long to respond and process anything! We get sick and tired of having to chase them up all the time

We have been with L&G for over 6 years, and each year the Home and Contents insurance policy premium went up by quite a lot, but every time I rang them up, they agreed to bring it down a little, so we stayed with them. However this year, I think taking advantage of the Covid crisis, they have been extremely hard to get hold of (spoke to 5 reps in total, overall waiting time of 2.5 hours), and when I eventually did, got told they couldn't negotiate at all on the renewal price (which this year went up by a whopping 20% - ridiculous). I have since gone with a quote from elsewhere, but when I go on their 'Smart Service' which each advisor told me was very straightforward and easy to use, it refuses to let me in to cancel. S case of Computer says no. So frustrating. Will be glad to see the back of them frankly.

The call waiting times are horrendous I've tried to contact them at various times of the day to discuss my home insurance policy. In the end I finally got through after an other wait of 25 minutes on hold and duly cancelled my renewal. The staff member asked why I wished not to renew with them when I explained that I've tried numerous times to get through she didn't even try to offer me any incentives to stay. I hate to think if if you ever had to claim emergency assistance this put me off using them in future

Having been with Legal and General for the past two years I was happy with the cover and price. However, when I tried to renew my policy this year I was unable to speak to anyone despite trying for three days. The automated payment process didn't recognise my "Unique Payment Reference" and it didn't work online either. Therefore I have found a new insurer.

Had a flood; 5-6 weeks in now. Sub contractors BVS and Polygon no talking efficiently. Missing items off lists which need to be replaced. Having to ring them Daily, still missing things off lists. Stating quotes for work from Builders is overpriced by x4. Feels like they are trying to push you into a quick low settlement or to agree for their people to do the work.

I Have had building and contents insurance with L&G for many years. I have never made a claim from either my home or buildings policy. Each year they hike the price and when I ring the reduce the quote by a nominal amount. Last year, 2016, I paid £250.00 pounds, this year it jumped to £321. for the same Cover. Having done a comparison for the same cover online I found Admiral offered the same cover for £86.00, there were many other providers coming close to this... Yes amazing. I contacted L&G customer services and they offered to reduce my premium to £275.00! Very kind of you, NOT! Needless to say I have a new provider.

Dreadful customer service. Website wont let me register so e-mailed them. Was contacted by phone and told documents would be posted. Two weeks later, still no documents. E-mailed them again and no response to e-mail, not even automated reply.Worst customer service from anyone in my experience.

We came back home at 10:15 p.m. and realised there had been a burglary at our house. The back door glass had been smashed. Obviously the police advised us to get in touch with the insurance Emergency services adn get the property secured. The first call was made around 10:30 p.m. and we were told that someone would contact in 15 minutes. The same response was given until 2:00 a.am. in the morning when finally they said that the contractor has now refused the job. This was in a situation when the family was already scared adn emotionally challenged. We went to a friend's place but my husband was standing out in teh cold /sitting in the car waiting for someone to come. Finally at 3:30 a.m. the company said that they could not arrange anyone to come over. On my insistence , My husband left the property vulnerable and came to the friends place so atleast we could all be together. Not a good experience at all , especially when we needed help the most. Will not recommend at all.

Very poor contacts via telephone, website is basically unserviceable as the login aspect is unfathomable and is notably often down for maintenance. Avoid.

Due to "an unforeseen number of claims received", at the moment it is taking them over 2 months from confirming a receipt of a claims form to give a decision on whether to pay out. Not what you expect from going with a big well known insurance brand.

We had a leak in the roof after severe weather and although I had emergency assist on my policy, we were never offered this. They refused to pay for our roof repairs even after getting a report from an independent surveyor saying it was storm damage. Please do not use legal and general if you want the cover you have paid for. This was supposed to be a 5 star insurance but we have paid almost £2000 out of our own pocket already.

Took out a house insurance policy on-line, and paid on line via credit card for the 12 months. Had a letter from L&G 30 days later demanding payment and telling me the property was un-insured until I paid. Checked with my credit card provider and the transaction went through the day before the policy commenced. Spent a few hours sorting out their mess and incompetence by digging out correspondence, contacting them by phone (no free-phone number) and by email, to be told they had received my payment at the time, but not allocated it to the policy. Staff were very polite hence they get a star !, but not the company !!
