Cancelled my car insurance before it had even started. RAC refused to give me my deposit back saying it was there arrangement fee, I will never purchase from rac again, even their breakdown cover is appalling they refused to send someone out. Rude arrogant staff, hope you're happy with yourselves you can artists they also tried to get double the amount of money I paid for a deposit when I cancelled. I've now cancelled my direct debit.

Been with them for one year, renewal due and the quote is not competitive. The links on the renewal email do not work. Googled and got to their website and logged in. Big button saying renew now, but I don't want to. Chat option pops up but is virtual agent and says I need to call. So call, wait in queue for 15 mins, spoke to someone and cancelled the insurance after saying I had already sorted out new insurance as their quote is not competitive. Just make it easier to cancel the renewal OR make your price competitive. Simple. Customer / users are much more savvy and will not put up with an experience like this.

Been with RAC Insurance for 3 years and today made a change to my policy for the first time. Only missed one payment in the past (this was quickly rectified as soon as the missed payment was made aware to me) and have never made a claim, I'd say I've been close to a perfect customer from an insurance perspective. Despite this, RAC Insurance still refused to waive the administration fee for making changes to the policy, which I asked them to do as a gesture of goodwill for the loyalty I have shown them as a customer and to help out with the increase in my premium (over double) for the change of vehicle. The agent I spoke to offered a great service and did all he could to get the fee waived but ultimately the decision lay with his manager, who refused. Companies that operate in this way will never gain continued loyalty from customers. I will be going elsewhere when my renewal is due, it is evident from other reviews on here that RAC Insurance has no consideration for their customers - through both their decision-making processes and their lack of desire to offer explanations or further support on platforms such as this.

Absolute disaster of an Insurance company. It turns out that they are in no way connected with the Royal Automobile Company. The initial quote can often be attractive. Using the name of RAC you are lured in to their policy. Despite no claims and in driving the same car that is subsequently worth less with 12 months driving experience, the RAC will never reduce your quote. By the third year there is often a doubling of the initial premium and this is where RAC Insurance will always lose out. Actually cancelling the policy and moving elsewhere is an absolute nightmare. I would advise anybody that wishes to transfer their policy away from the RAC to keep copies of all e-mails sent and telephone calls made.

With four months left on the policy, my wife's car has been scrapped and was told they use the remaining months as a cancellation fee or should that be theft - unbelieveable, will avoid using them again.

Without predjudice. Rac insurance services are staffed by incompetant individuals they mucked up on an insurance policy twice and had to pay extra for them to then cancel the policy after it had been paid in full for the year, and on top of that i had to ask them for the money paid to be returned to me twice and they said it would be paid back within 8 days which has not happened in 14 days phoned them again for them to tell me it hadnt been processed as a refund and im going to have to wait another 8 days for the refund! (If that ever happens?) So do yourselves a favour avoid rac insurances as its nothing but hassle and on top of that i have had to deal with gross incompetance by all i have had to deal with at rac insurance services. Customer satisfaction nill point, competance nill point, hassle 10 point, promises made and implemented by rac nill point, and as for customer care well your better off talking to brick walls and inanimate objects. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

I needed to travel to the EU in a few days time. In today's post I got a letter saying I need to give RAC 28 days notice before I can travel to the EU because I needed a "Green Card". Next time tell your customers about this VERY important bit of news sooner. Avoid this company.

RAC increased my premium by over 100% when i needed to change address and remove a driver. No interest in trying to retain my custom. I was able to get a quote via moneysupermarket the same day - for RAC cheaper but that would have meant paying £55 cancellation to RAC only to take another policy with them. Poor customer experience, this company is not to be trusted, poor value for money, profiteering when loyal customers need to change details. Absolute shitebags

Please do not use this company for insurance Especially blackbox absolute scammers score drops like crazy for things out of your control, acceleration and braking scoring is extremely sensitive and they will most likely Take your money and cancel your insurance after a couple months ive found it very difficult to improve my score and it kept dropping every day now im with direct line blackbox and noticed the difference on the first drive much easier to keep a good score

I would give the black box less than one star if I could. Its a ridiculous system that brings down your score dramatically even if you break harshly once. After I had realised this was the case, I monitored my acceleration, braking & speed scores and it still wasn't enough. They say they care about safety BUT due to the worry from increasing my score I spent more time looking at my speedometer than the actual ROAD. Its not worth it at all. Pay that little bit extra for NO black box, you'll be a better driver without it. My insurance quote was £1190 for the first year and with a GOOD drivers score (bearing in mind i hadn't driven my car between December and march 2021 as it needed repairs), so the driver score was at 100%, my insurance renewal was £1160. What a joke. Would not go with rac again, scammers.

Avoid like the plague. Unless you trust scammers to help you in the event of a claim. Took out a policy with them after using a price comparison site. After agreeing the price and putting through the payment details we noticed an additional £25 charge. They said this was due to a 'fault claim' showing up on the insurance CUE system. I explained we had not had a claim and they said it wasn't a mistake and that we would have to get proof from our previous insurer Churchill that there was no fault claim. Churchill told us there was indeed no existing or previous fault claim connected and that RAC have been 'misinterpreting the data' - something which Churchill have had many complaints about from customers who had moved to RAC ! I complained as this was definitely fraudulent activity on the part of RAC who agreed to refund the policy and waive any cancellation fee. We then got a letter in the post about the extra charge - which they later explained was automatically generated even though the policy had been cancelled before the date of the letter. We also noted the fee - minus the additional £25 - had been already taken from our account even though the policy was not due to begin for several days. It wasn't an easy process to resolve. They even had the cheek to charge us 15p for the policy on account of the day it was due to commence - had we not already cancelled it. The whole thing is an utter scam. I shall be complaining to the Insurance Ombudsman about this appalling, unethical company.

Be very wary of taking out RAC’s black box insurance. I have been monitoring my driving very closely for the past year via the app and had overall consistently excellent scores and was at a hundred percent for my driving. Now my renewal is approaching, suddenly my scores have plunged right down to below 40%. We are currently in lockdown and I live in a tiny village and only drive very infrequently around my locality. Apparently I’m suddenly accelerating and braking harshly on nearly every journey. I have looked over these journeys and records very closely. This is impossible! I have not changed my driving or my routes in the last few weeks to warrant any of these scores. Appears to me that the sensitivity of my black box has suddenly been significantly heightened. Strange how it conveniently started to malfunction as my renewal draws close. Very suspicious. I will obviously not be renewing with RAC. You’ve lost my trust.
