On the hottest day recorded as in above date, I was unfortunate to have my vehicle breakdown on me, I pulled over as quickly and safely as traffic would allow, put my hazards on, then through the passenger side me and my eight-year-old grandson hopped over the barrier and up the embankment, (this came as second nature as running my own rescue/recovery business for the RAC as the main contractor for best part of 30yrs), so I called the Green Flag at 2.16pm, at 2.22pm I had a message of Green Flag saying we got your rescue request, our trusty technician from Celtic Recovery Ltd, will aim to be with you by 3.23pm, at 4.23pm another message about our trusty technician from Celtic Recovery Ltd, will aim to be with you by 5.23pm ( note still stuck on embankment with grandson in baking heat), at 4.25pm and 5.10pm and 5.51pm from 01633 246622 ( later found out it was Walls trucks Newport), still no trusty technician had turned up, due to the extreme heat a crying grandson nothing to drink on the hottest day, last sense of time, then a plain blue small van turned up, no signage to say who they were or he was, not comfortable at all, then he said he was from Green Flag ( the van when I showed my husband he said it was an ex gas board van, now this firm is your representative for Green Flag), note for a breakdown firm he was in no position to move me at all, he said your fan belt has gone, then started taking photos of my vehicle, he did not attempt to put water in my radiator as it was now stone cold, instead he said he would follow me off into Cardiff International sports stadium car park, no toilets anywhere not good at all, had to walk to a Asda for water, he then said I will organise a recovery vehicle, he then said the wait for the recovery truck will be about one hour ( told him there will be two people), this turned out to be nearly two hours, he turned up in a dinky toy car transporter the sort car breakers use and in about the same condition, white in colour, reg number VU68 YUF, AGAIN NO SIGNAGE to say what the hell was turning up or who dressed in a vest, the winch strained like hell to get my vehicle on and it looked overloaded, I thought at last we are going home, then this so called representative for Green Flag ( looking scruffy and not professional in any way ( but he was polite), then dropped a bomb shell he could only take one passenger,( what was I supposed to do leave my grandson go with him and I stay behind or the other way for god sake!) , he then said a taxi will be sent for you, at 6.42pm I had a message to say CMAC ref number 3578122, have received your request for a taxi on behalf of Green Flag (nothing like the web page that is shown for Celtic or Green Flag ) the recovery driver drove off with my vehicle at 7.04pm to recover to my home address, and we were still stranded stressed out heated up grandson crying and scared, then I phoned my husband and he sent my daughter to pick us up, she phoned me and stressed out with worry about me and her son, this was 8.02pm still no taxi, when my daughter turned up 8.45pm then a 16 seated minibus turned up, by then my head was gone and just left with my daughter, stranded for six and half hours. Like I said I was in the recovery game, and I well know that your service was rubbish, if I operated my recovery/rescue in that manner that would have been the end, this morning I cancelled my DD, I then put it on social media to warn people of this Celtic Recovery firm and the terrible service your firm delt me with, I was with the RAC for best part of 32yrs, never in that time did we have cowboys in mickey mouse vehicles no signage or drivers in uniforms turn up, and best of all did not know how to operate a breakdown service, they were just tuppeny bit drivers on poor pay, it just looked that way, you know what I am trying to say ( GOD DAMN IMAGE ), I have since joined the RAC cost a lot more, but you know what they say pay peanuts! you can rest assured I will never recommend Green Flag or that Celtic Recovery firm.

On holiday 350 miles away from home, needing to get home tomorrow, my windscreen was shattered by a bird, rang greenflag, what a joke, they said they only do mechanical breakdowns, said I needed to contact my insurance company. I shall be cancelling my cover, the woman on the phone wasn't bothered. Avoid this company.

One of the worst experience with green flag for brake down. They kept me in between for full night without attending. So I have to make my own arrangement. No point in having brake down with them. AA is much better

I had broken down at 6pm near my shop. I could smell petrol. The engine would not stay on . So i called green flag to rescue me. I was told by operator that their third party partner will attend. I didnt mind as long as i get help so can go home. The third party mechanic arrived at 815pm. I went to the arrived mechanic and told him i think there is fuel leak. The mechanic immediately refused to help me or check my car for the fault as he said i cant check or go under the car incase somebody throws a match stick. To my shock i said you not serious. Its only 2 cars here mine and yours. Road totally empty of any traffic or people. I begged him to help me so can go home after 14 hours shift as live in wembley. I lifted the back seat and i showed him the fuel pump area as i had new pump fitted few months ago. The mechanic saw the spilled fuel and customarily refused to touch or check if the pipe has come out. I begged him again. He reluctantly put his gloves, looked at the pump, moved the tube and said its not fitting, keeps coming out. I said so u cannot help me. He confidently said NO. I had to spend the evening and night in my shop and sleep on the floor till my own mechanic can help me. In the morning my own mechanic came and fixed the issue in five minutes. Pushed the tube in its place, secured it and car worked fine. This level of service by green flag is DIRE,DISGRACEFUL, SHOCKING,DIGUSTING, so angry with this level of service was provided to me. Cannot go home to my son, left completely STRANDED. Green flag should be ASHAMED after my experience on 6.7.21

Got stranded down a country lane it was slightly snowy and icey on the road . We rang them up for help and to be recovered they sent a recovery lorry out .Approximately 5 hours later only to be told he didn't want to risk getting his lorry stuck . We rang green flag again and they suggested to call them back when the snow had gone.. seriously WHAT A JOKE!!. We got a local with a 4x4 to help us put grit down on the road so we could eventually get out. I have complained to green flag several times but never got a reply.

Absolutely terrible service after… Absolutely terrible service after breaking down just after 7.00pm I phoned green flag who said I would be priority because I was on my own in a lay-by the operator asked for my location but she said she couldn’t find me, so I had to ask a lorry driver who had just pulled in to give her the exact location, a while after I received text to say someone would be with me at 10.30pm,( a woman from green flag did phone me I told her that there’s no lights around and I was on my own and it’s quite scary but she didn’t seem bothered) that time came and went then received another text saying someone will be there at 11.39, then 12.15, then another text changing time to 12.29, still no sign of anyone at just after 1.00am rescue driver phoned me saying he couldn’t find me so again I explained where I was he said he was going in the opposite direction and needed to turn around he eventually got to me put my car on his truck without looking at engine first, I asked him if he could take my car to my local garage which I had arranged earlier while waiting to be recovered but he said he was allowed to take it anywhere else but to my home address, after me asking again he agreed we dropped car off and I asked if he could then drop me off at my address he reluctantly said yes but he didn’t take me to my address he dropped me off at the top off the road and I had to walk the rest, I definitely feel let down by green flag been paying them for years for recovery plus and only used them twice. Green flag on my other review left you say click on link to respond to you but it doesn’t do anything!!

This is my review from trustpilot, posted Friday 4th 2021. Friday 4th. Called Green flag to rescue my wife and I from the M25, we called them at 15:35, at a little after 17:00 we got picked up and moved off the motorway, but to my horror we weren't returned home but left at a BP garage down the road, which I was then told another rescue vehicle would take us home, this vehicle was then cancelled without me knowing, after several phone calls I eventually got home at 23:00. Nearly 8 hours, a dozen phone calls and little to no communication. I WILL BE COMPLAINING AND TAKING THIS FURHER. I have family cover for reassurance and peace of mind that we would always get home, this will be cancelled just after I've complained and let the whole world know just how bad I've been treated. NEVER USE GREEN FLAG unless you want to be stranded.

To all bikers out there thinking of going with green flag dont do it .broke down on sunday 4 o'clock phoned g flag they sent tech coudant help said I needed to be transported home he said further 25 minutes to get transport time approx 6o'clock. Transport came 12.30 midnight .they sent 2 car transporters .this is a brand new bike by the way.the two lads took a lot of time wondering where to put the straps they had no idea in transporting bikes .they had a roll on rool on dolly with no protection for wheels when I asked if bike got damedge from transporting it they then refused to take it time now 1.30 morning .eventually I had to give instruction how to strap bike down .got within 5 minutes of home driver unable to see speed bumps bounced over 3 in a row enough to squeeze tyre beads to look as though white walls.getting bike of flat back he took rear straps of left the suspension on front compressed pulled bike of the dolly which flew up and he put his selfe in way of bike so it didant hit the bike.time now 3.30 in morning. Green flag I believe have devided the country up into 4 parts and have one company for each area they got rid of all the small independents now when they need them they wont help dont blame them.a night I wont forget no apology since no offer of compensation not a word green flag dont do it .

Sold a policy online. Admit it’s my fault for not checking small print that as a taxi driver I wasn’t covered.. However now they are chasing me for money on a policy that I shouldn’t have had. Have now been threatened with debt collection agency , which I have just discovered is actually an office in Greenflag. All for£11.20. Worked out already Greenflag have spent over £100 in chasing me for payment on a policy that Iam not entitled too but is still open. My advice , don’t buy Greenflag policy, or their shares as appear to be run by ex managers from MFI or Blockbuster.

On two occasions in the last 5 years I have had a need to call Greenflag and on both occasions they have failed to provide ANY support. I would go so far as to say it is dangerous to place any reliance on their service.

BEWARE!!! of this company, they are absolute cowboys. My vehicle was in compound for 2 days before they took it to a garage, When I collected it there was significant damage to the front of my van ,and they said it had nothing To do with them. But when they collected my van they took photos And there was no damage at all, When they dropped it off at the garage They said that they could not produce photos when they dropped it off because there was a glitch in the System. I have had a quote And it is going to cost me £500 for the repair. Save yourself the heartache and the money and go elsewhere, there an absolute disgrace to the recovery Business.

I have had my current green flag policy for 3 years. I was on way to pick up my young daughter who lives 179 miles away from where I live. On way my car had warning lights come on and had restricted power so called up green flag ( first time I have called them out since having the policy) so the call centre who was good arranged for a local mechanic to come out and look at my car in oxford. The mechanic was with me for 12 minutes if that. All he did was plug in his car fault diagnostic machine which brought up 4 faults regarding the dpf filter. The mechanic told me to put some red x in car and drive it like I stole it down to Portsmouth and the car will regenerate the dpf and it would be fine then (as I had mentioned I was going to pick up my daughter) which was another 75 miles away from where I was and then I'd be returning to where I lived. I questioned the mechanic and said would the lights turn off and the car be fixed to which he replied yes. I then continued my journey but could still feel lack of full power so I called up green flag again within 15 minutes of leaving the mechanic and spoke to the call centre and put across my concerns regarding the issue and to confirm that i was covered if problem continued to which the person on the phone said I would only advise what the mechanic has told you and to continue to drive the car and yes you are covered. So I continued my journey down to Portsmouth and picked up my daughter from the hover and returned to the car to see the light still on dash ( which mechanic had told me they would turn off). So I called green flag again explained what had happened and they again arranged for another local mechanic to come out to look at the car. Second mechanic came plugged in diagnostic machine and same faults still there reset car and again lights came back on so asked me what I wanted to do with the car and i said i have full national recovery so he called up his company who spoke to green flag. This is where it gets interesting green flag told the second mechanic to leave as I was not covered as I had left the first call out and not listened to the first mechanic who at this point told green flag that he instructed me to drive my car to a local garage to get it repaired ( at no point was I told by the mechanic or anyone to go to a local garage to get car repaired ). I then called green flag explained what had happened during the day the woman told me what was said by the first mechanic. I then told her what was said by the mechanic and that I had called green flag just after leaving the first mechanic confirming what he had told me to do. To which the woman said yes I can see by the notes on my screen that you was told to carry on driving. So she spoke to her supervisor and they arranged a recovery for me to get back home with my daughter which was 179 miles away so I was ok with this and thought that was the end of the matter. well after waiting 40 minutes after the phone call I got a notification through the green flag app saying I had cancelled the recovery so I thought that ain't right so called up green flag again just to check that the recovery was still happening to which the person on the phone said no we have cancelled the recovery because the woman I spoke to did it by mistake and was not ment to do it because I had not followed the first mechanic advice ( yet again I was not advised to go to a garage to get it fixed but was advised to carry on my journey and drive it like I stole it) by this point I was getting very upset and concerned as now I had been in Portsmouth for over 4 hours dealing with this. I again explained to which he replied we are not going to recover you unless you pay £150 call out which covers you for up to 10 miles then you will have to arrange and pay for the extra mileage which would be very expensive or you can call a local person and try to arrange with them and that is all we can do. This has left me no choice but to arrange my car to be picked up and for a friend to drive down and get me and my daughter. Which left me and my daughter stranded for another 4 hours while they drove the 179 miles down to get us as well as £400 out of pocket for the recovery of my car the next day. My policy was due to renew in a few weeks safe to say I will not be renewing my policy with green flag as this was the only time I had called them out to help.

Ordered an item in November which is STILL NOT DELIVERED, when contacted they informed me the item was out of stock but had not bothered to tell me that themselves, was then told stock would be in within a week. It wasn't but again failed to bother to tell me this. Terrible customer service, now trying to get a full refund from this shockingly badly handled company!

They are the worst possible company to get breakdown cover with. I broke some an hour and half away from where I live. I was in a place I didn’t know and I was on my own. They left me stranded for 9 hours because they wouldn’t come and help me untill I paid £150 because apparently I gave them the wrong address when I didn’t. I was left for 9 hours with no food or drink or anywhere to go. It was 9:45pm before a family member was able to come and fix my tyre so I didn’t get home till nearly 12am and I was alone for all that time. They didn’t care one bit. I started a complaint and they won’t do anything about it saying they haven’t done anything wrong when they 100% have. DO NOT go with green flag or you will never get your car fixed and you’ll be left stranded for 9hours like I was. To state that they care about their customers and their safety is the biggest lie because young girls like myself get left in the dark in places they don’t know
