“Drive belt broke,so no power sterring or other services powered by the belt. Was tod at 8'30 pm we'll recover to a garage of your choiceby Amy.Not knowing any garages in the area of Great Yarmouth didn't help.Phoned again and a very helpful lady gave me some phone numbers to call the following morning to arrage for my car to be taken ther by a recovery vehicle. The recovery was arranged for 10.25.By 12'oclock midday no vehicle had arrived.I called Green Flag again, and was told"they couldn't find me,and to send another recovery truck would cost me £150.I argued that no recovery vehicle had arrived. After several more phone calls,I was told the the recovery vehicle had be sent o Abergele in Wales.Remember I had been given given phone numbers for recovery in GREAT YARMOUTH ,NORFOLK,where I was broken down.NOT ABERGELE,WALES. Eventually a recovery vehicle arrived at around 1.30 pm.5 HOURS AFTER MY ealier morning call.I pay extra for Premium Insurance with Green Flag”
“5hrs for recovery on the M4!
Friday 12pm.. clutch went on the car.. called green flag from the hard shoulder was told to expect recovery at 1:50pm.. that company called and said 20min at 1.20pm.. then got a message 4pm recovery. Called back and said that is the best that they can do even tho we were stuck on the hard shoulder with a small child, diabetic then had 4 different messages from 4 different companies with different times and different locations for us.. we suddenly started getting messages from companies in London that was going to recover us.. but we're in Wales?!?
Finally got told we will get recovery about 5:30pm!!
Shocking customer service.. won't be subscribing to green flag ever again!!!”
“Car wouldn’t start, their app didn’t work - I called and spent 52 minutes on the phone before they could establish that yes, I did have a current policy with them, let alone think about sending out help. The call staff seemed poorly trained and disinterested: there was giggling and messing around in the background, I kept being put on hold or forwarded to someone who made little more progress than the previous person. I’m so grateful I was at home and not in trouble on the hard-shoulder somewhere with no charge on my phone. Will never trust Green Flag again - absolutely dreadful.”
“I called for assistance yesterday at 2pm as I was at home I wasn't in a great rush so agreed with the call centre and slot between 4:30-6:30
2 mins before 6:30 I got a call to say they were running late and they would aim to be with me at 8pm no help arrived so I called and was told they would be there by 9 pm at 9:20 I called again. Again to be told we are very busy. I then had a call from the garage assigned to me who told me they were on the way. We are sorry for the delay. Eventually the help arrived at 10:40 pm. So I from 2pm when I 1st logged the call to 10:40 pm that's beyond a joke. What rubbish service. Then to be told I needed a new battery and we don't carry spares. If they had been earlier I might of had some hope of getting a battery or arranging another form of transport for this morning. I had explained when I 1st called I needed the car in the morning for a medical appointment for my elderly parent.”
“Five hour wait and - 120 excess for mileage to home garage as damaged caused by blow out ! Dreadful experience no updates no app working ! Mob running out no food no drink for five hours eventually home six hours later - - never use again !”
“Received my renewal letter. I rang and said I was cancelling policy as no need required. Month later received another years policy in post. Tried 3 times today to contact them on phone and after waiting 20 mins each time was cut off before speaking to agent. Will try again tomorrow. Why can’t they be contacted by email, it is 2022”
“Great service from Hough Green Garage today. Returning from our holiday in Wales the warning lights came on dashboard. As we had just passed Chester Services on M56 my husband drove to the first available exit to leave the motorway and parked in a layby. I phoned Green Flag and explained that car was loosing power and warning lights were on dashboard. Had a little difficulty with the App but Recovery Vehicle arrived within half an hour of placing the call. The lady taking the call was polite and reassuring and recovery driver was very professional. Our car was driven on to the pickup truck and we continued the journey home to Yorkshire.”
“I feel a bit guilty leaving a poor review because the driver who eventually came and transported me and my car away from the breakdown scene was nice. However I had to wait three and three-quarter hours for assistance. They were hard to get hold of and kept fobbing me off with predictions of one hour. Tell the truth from the start! That would help even if the news is bad. It is incredibly demoralising to expect something important like getting rescued and then being repeatedly let down. Another thing is the policy with our insurers includes towing but only for 25 miles I discovered the other night. They charged me nearly £100 for towing an extra 25 miles, an unexpected cost.. I realise other people have even worse experiences but am investigating moving to another roadside rescue company”
“Absolutely disgusting experience and support last night cut me off after 40 odd minutes of waiting to get through to someone for an issue I flagged to them at 9PM to only have my call returned at 02.16am. You guys cannot be serious leaving people vulnerable out there!”
“Worst customer service specially Wendy who is very rude and arrogant unhelpful that lack professionalism and manners. Rabish breakdown service. Never again.”
“Fortunately, I've never had to call them out, but if I do, I hope their breakdown assistance is better than their admin and mobile app as they are both useless.
The rest of us are in 2022, come on Green Flag catch up”
“Mayday is an arm of Greenflag and are recommended by the caravan club for breakdown cover.
I have been with Greenflag for years. But no more.
I went online to the mayday website for cover ticking the box for 2 vehicles cover, the other was one vehicle.
It came back with a quote of £105.
I rang customer services to confirm other details, I also asked the full details of the cover, she said I wasn't covered for 2 vehicles ??. I'm confused.
That would be another £32 she quoted.
So why is there 2 tick boxes ? with a tick for 2 vehicles.??.
She replied I don't know what site you are on or what you are doing.....I'm on the mayday site how do you think I have got the £105 quote.....
Well it's an extra £32 do you want it or not, as that is what it is.
As I don't think you are putting in the right details, how many university degrees does it take to tick a box with 2 vehicles I thought.
She sighed in impatience and tutting.
I said thank you for your help I will go with the AA they are far more professional in the approach.
And more professional with how to speak to potential customers, I have transferred to the AA.
if that is how greenflag train the customer service staff then they can expect to be out of a job as people will walk to another company as I have done.
Conclusion, I have gone with a company that respects customers.”
“Rang Mayday/Greenflag which the caravan club recommend.
I wanted cover for my motorhome, online quote of £105 I went thru the online process indicating In the check boxes 2 vehicles. Which I assume as it says it covers 2 vehicles.
Which gave me the £ 105 quote.
I rang mayday to confirm my selection only to be told I need to pay an extra £32 for an extra vehicle, the woman was very short in her seriously unprofessional attitude when I stated I had ticked the box 2 vehicles....No that's wrong she said ?? You don't know what your doing, so ticking the 2 vehicle box is not covering 2 vehicles I said.
No your £105 quote is just fir your motorhome and not your car as well.
So I asked so why have the 2 vehicle tick box then ?? And the final 105 quote.
Her reply was well I don't know what site you are in but that's the quote you will have to pay.
I said I'm on the mayday site I know where I am.
And I know what I'm doing.
She sighed as if annoyed, and a reply do you want it or not...my reply was I will go with the AA they are far more professional and approachable with there attitude.
I have been with green flag for years but after that escapade never ever again.
They have lost my custom for good.”
“For the first time ever we called out Green Flag. What a total waste of time. A nice lad, but with absolutely no electrical diagnostic testing equipment how are you going to manage and diaognose the faults on today's cars. We will be voting with our feet and going to the AA. Our visit a total waste of time, and we have wasted our money for years.”
“I have been a policy holder with green flag for over a year. Today unfortunately my gear selector on my car failed. I call up for road side assistance on was told my policy has been cancelled due to my partner been given a good deal in corporating both our policies. I have my policy paperwork in email and my partner has no idea what they are talking about. I was left at the side of the road and told I would have to pay £158 for recovery! Avoid at all costs!I ended paying a private recovery company to recover my car.”
“Left a disabled person stranded for over 30 hours until they ended up in the back of an ambulance.
Awful service and added to by a rude girl from LJ Transportation who said they don’t care about disabled people and they follow their procedures.”
“I have been trying to cancel my policy for THREE YEARS (I don't have a car anymore) and they keep taking the money out of my account against my permission. Crooks. I ring up, HOURS on hold, no email address to contact they by and then they say they have cancelled the policy then they renew it and take the money again the following year.”
“Stay well clear if you are a business
I took out a green flag business policy, I ensured I took out the highest one possible.
In case of break down I then had a replacement vehicle for two days and my vehicle would be straight to the garage.
First time I come to use them went like this.
Had a technician out to my vehicle (not green flag they subcontract there entire business) he said there was no fault to continue driving, I continued with my working day for 20 minutes later the same issue with the vehicle I then waited an hour and half to be recovered to the nearest garage.
As soon as my van was in the garage they said it would be at least a day or so before they could look at it and repair it so I contacted green flag to arrange a replacement vehicle as per my policy.
I was told on the phone it was arranged for two days and to expect a call within two hours to arrange delivery of the vehicle I even was asked for the delivery address for the replacement vehicle.
Two hours later I received a call stating that the hire company had no availability and to wait till the morning.
The following day 11am I have another call from the hire company they say that they will get me a vehicle out the next day in the late afternoon so there goes two days worth of business and countless lost customers.
I then asked what I would need to do the hire company said they don’t deliver the vehicle and that I would have to make my way to the office to collect miles from my home at further cost to me.
I contacted green flag about this they said there’s nothing they can do it’s subject to availability and washed there hands of me I cancelled the policy on the spot.
In summary
I was stupid for going cheap stick with the AA you pay for what you get.
If you are a business there policy isn’t worth the paper it’s written on there is no real cover for you.
They subcontract all of there business out so there is no real support I’m sure they don’t employ anyone themselves
Unfortunately as a new business we have learnt a very difficult lesson don’t rely on companies like this when things go wrong.
I just hope we can recover from the damage caused”
