“We thought that by using Harrisons for our solar we had the backing of a great company and expertise. We chose to have the inverter and half of the overall panels we needed in one installation and then add the remainder of the panels at a later date. At the time we thought the installation had been successful (working with Stu the local franchisee at the time) Oddly we received our electrical compliance certification via email and no physical inspection was completed. At the time we thought that was a bit strange but in a years time we arranged with the new franchisee Ray to get the remaining panels installed. When the team came to install the extra panels, with what was going to be a one day install things went rapidly downhill. It was quickly established that we had unsheathed wiring on our roof (fire and electric shock risk) panels had been installed in a location where there was obvious issue with that area being shaded, and other assorted issues. The team then spent a week completely rewiring the inverter, relocating the original panels and installing the new ones. To top this off because of the electrical issues we then had our solar system offline for 10 days until the electrical inspector came and inspected and removed the lockout padlock from the switchboard. Ray and the team were great however we decided to make a formal complaint to Harrisons head office about the issues identified, the extra costs we incurred with our solar being switched off and having to make arrangements in order for tradesmen to be present for 6 days to complete the remedial and install work. I heard back quickly via phone that my complaint was being looked into, I then had a conversation with Ray and he assured me that there was a meeting to discuss this and I would hear back in a few days, a week later I had someone from head office call and 'mansplain' that the original contractors were not their employees, that technically the bare exposed cables etc were fine, they couldn't be sure the original inspector didn't show (they didn't and the second inspector spent 3 hours certifying the second install) total excuse maker, didn't want to take any responsibility and then announced he had no authority to resolve this. Since then I have not heard from anyone at Harrisons or the local franchisee. We hired Harrisons because they (not us) are supposed to offer an expert service, carefully managed by them with a well supported nationwide brand and customer service. We are lucky that we didn't have a house fire and no one was electrocuted when cleaning the panels, our experience has been terrible and we would not recommended making this type of sizeable investment trusting Harrisons to take care of everything. A hugely dis-satisfactory experience -one that has definitely not been resolved to our satisfaction. Definitely do not recommend!”

“The installation phase went very smoothly and caused minimum disruption to our daily routines. The installers were great to deal with and thoughtfully overcame the challenges posed by our home’s rather unique construction. We were particularly grateful for the inclusion of the ethernet link to the Powerwall as extending our internal Wifi had proved very difficult. Thank you Carl Williams, Harrisons Solar.”

“Very disappointing experience. The service seems to depend heavily on which local owner you deal with. Mine cancelled the appointment just an hour beforehand and never got back to me, despite multiple attempts to contact them. I’m also concerned about warranty support. My understanding is that the warranty sits with the local business owner rather than Harrisons itself. I would recommend checking who is responsible for honouring it and what happens if the local owner stops responding.”

“I purchased a 36 panel system with expansion battery. I wanted it ground mounted rather than on the roof, although I was required to construct the timber array myself, Andrew was very helpful and informative from start to finish, the installation was very tidy and exactly how I wanted it. Any issues were sorted very promptly and I’m super stoked with how well the system performs A+++”

“The installation of my solar system with gateway and Tesla battery has just been completed. The whole process was made very easy by Andre and Tineka Kavanagh, who cover my area (Ngatea). The site visit was informative and the follow on communication and support was first class. Everything went to plan and the actual installation only took 5 hours and was a very tidy job. They also helped with the applications for the various rebates and setting up the buy back with my power provider. Finally, not being a wiz with the iphone, Andre called round and set it up for me and I have the reassurance that I can call them if I have any problems.”

The team was very professional in the installation and came up with a very satisfactory solution to get the power supply from the two-story house roof to the single story attached garage where the battery was positioned. “I had 4 quotes for solar panels, a battery and an ev charger to be installed. My house has a simple north facing roof. It was interesting that all quotes were similar and with a good deal of work done by each company. I chose Matt and Karla Carey as they were using a Tesla battery which suited my narrow outdoor space. This did cause some hilarity when I called the other companies as they said this was usually the reason given by customers that they were chosen to avoid Tesla. The whole process was very slick. Jake and his team arrived about 8am and by 3.30 they had finished the whole job. The boys were a pleasure to have here and I was very impressed by the way they problem solved and discussed solutions with me. A good tidy job was important to me and that is what I got. Matt has always been immediately available if I have had any questions but ultimately the system just needs time to settle in. I am very impressed with the power I am generating. It’s a pity the Genesis buy back rate is so low. Overall I am extremely happy to have chosen to go solar.”

“Great experience dealing with Andrew in the Whanganui region. He arrived to the appointment prepared and asked a lot of questions to understand what was important to us and what we were hoping to achieve out the product and then gave us options with each product benefit to choose from. We felt fully informed before making our decision and so it was an easy decision to make. The installers left the space extremely tidy and there was no disruption to us during the installation process. Every part of the process was professional and felt safe. We had no concerns or issues and felt no pressure to proceed if it wasn't right.”
