“Trashy product - at least 50 percent of the ‘front page news’ was advertising / marketing of some sort. Terrible waste of money. I was too embarrassed to gift it even to my daughter.”

“Been a regular customer for years and can never fault the books which are always excellent value for money. Sadly, the customer service was very poor this time! Paid for a tracked delivery for 2nd or 3rd December only to be told this was not guaranteed and it would be delivered on 6th! Customer Service advisor very dismissive of the issues this caused and basically offered to refund the difference in postage or cancel my order. Very unlikely to purchase again as a result. Thanks for your response which relates to an earlier order I placed on 17th November and had no issues with. It’s the order placed at the end of November which relates to my review. I spoke with your customer services team on Friday 3rd December at 12:51pm”

“Dreadful service, blobs of gold on the front of both books. Not suitable as Christening gifts. Unhelpful when I asked for a refund. Would never buy from these again and gave spread the word to others too! I did reach out and you were most unhelpful. Thanks for not reading the review correctly, it was not for Christmas.”

“I deeply regret having relied on this company to deliver a newspaper picture book for my father's 80th birthday (in the UK), while I am living abroad. Not only did they deliver front page extracts from the wrong date(!), upon reporting the complaint I was met with a highly bureaucratic and callous reply offering a standard refund without any attempt to send a gift in its stead within the short space of time available.”

“The book came without message printed in it and I am now awaiting delivery of this , I hope it looks ok . I was asked to send a photo of book with missing message, how could I take a photo of nothing !!!! It took all afternoon sending and receiving emails before it was finally sorted.”

“1. Delivery very late. 2. Customer services blamed Royal Mail. 3. Website 'tracking' gives you an error code only. 4. Product is not worth £14.99 plus delivery for a single newspaper that is not even a month old. 5. Delivery status states 'dispatch was on 22nd May' when I checked on the 29th of May. Delivery meant to be within 2-3 working days.”

“Whole experience was a disaster: I have chosen a courier delivery to make sure that a gift will arrive on time. On a delivery day, I have received an email that my parcel was lost and there are no more copies of newspaper I have chosen. I was offered an alternative and promised that replacement will be sent straight away to be received the following day. It wasn't - next day I have received an email saying that parcel is about to be shipped. Person who I have contacted asked me to confirm if it is too late so that she can cancel the shipment. I have confirmed but has been sent the parcel anyway. Not only I had to find an alternative gift at a very last minute and pay for the express delivery service, but also, when I requested a refund, I was told that I need to send their parcel back first (yes - the same parcel they've postponed twice and then sent it regardless). Customer service is very responsive but apart of this positive the whole ordering process was a huge waste of time.”

“I never normally write reviews but the service I received from this company was so poor I feel it is worth mentioning to help others avoid suffering the same. I ordered a historical newspaper for my Uncle's 90th birthday on 6th November 2019. It didn't arrive on time for his birthday 11 days later. In fact, I was actually sent out someone else's order. On the 22nd November I contacted the company via email & they apologised, asked me to send the wrong order back to them and they would send my actual order out to me asap. As I still had not received my order by the 16th December I sent them an email asking if I would be likely to receive it by Xmas. There was no response. So I sent another email on the 20th December asking the same thing. There was no response again. I then called the company on the 31st December and was told that there was apparently an issue with obtaining the frames for the newspapers and that they should probably give me a refund as they had no idea when or if ever these would be received. Not the greatest service I've ever had... I strongly recommend that this company be avoided or you will most likely end up just as disappointed as I was.”

“Having rejected requests to review several times, they just don’t give up! It Wasn’t great service anyway - the assistant couldn’t be bothered to check what was included. She preferred instead to say if it doesn’t have the supplements, I can ring them, get a return code, take to post office, wait for refund .... I got the paper and it included the supplement (contrary to order confirmation). I’m fed up with being pestered for reviews! A phone call could be made to despatch team to check, prior to posting. As your reply states, you are clearly too busy to waste your time, instead preferring to expend my time. I bet you have a sign up somewhere on your premises, promising Customer Service! It's £10 for a recent newspaper, you can do better. Nevertheless, I appreciate getting the newspaper soon after, in good condition. Thank you.”

“It was just one newspaper. It was the same date each year from the birthday. As it was a 21st gift it was just copies of 21 front pages. Actually, very disappointed. Same price for 100 pages for a centenarian? Would have been better to know exactly what was being delivered. So disappointed that it was just the one newspaper.”

“Awful service. Wrong thing sent. When I contacted Historic Newspapers they tried to fob me off with a discount and then said that I would need to send the wrong item back (a personalised item so of no value) and then finally agreed to send the correct item. I have been waiting for this item for over a week. Wrong tracking code sent out and new code doesn't work either.”

“I purchased a book, as a birthday present, of first pages of The Telegraph since 1937. I was very disappointed with the quality of the reproduction with so many pages totally unreadable including the later 1990 editions. I enquired whether the unreadable pages could be reprinted because what is the point of producing, at considerable cost (£74), something totally unreadable? I was informed that this is how it is. A TOTAL waste of money!”
