“Unfortunately, my experience was very similar to Steve’s, who wrote a review on this property only a month before I stayed there. Upon arrival, the inside temperature of the property was only 9°C, and there was no hot water available. Attempts to raise this concern were not possible due to the help line not being staffed, and no other information or contact details were available within the property. The shutters, shower head, and cleanliness issues raised by the previous reviewer had not been rectified, as stated by holidaycottages.co.uk, or if they had, they had been damaged again. I found that there were loose floor tiles and a shaver point in one of the en-suite bathrooms, and the oven tripped the electricity on occasions. Raised my concerns at the first opportunity at 10 am the day after arrival, having spent an extremely cold and uncomfortable night at the property, only to be told I could not raise my complaint until my week's stay had concluded. I was, however, contacted by Caleb from the company during my stay, and after I had struggled with the heating and hot water issues, they were rectified by a plumber a day before I left to come home. I have since been offered a partial refund, which, although I rejected it, was still paid into my bank account. I considered leaving the property and returning home early, but not really an option due to the distance involved and as I had booked and paid for several festive activities in advance, particularly for the young children in my party of guests. Matter now referred to my credit card company under the Consumer Credit Act to independently investigate and adjudicate.”

“We had a nice stay in Post Box Cottage but we were never greeted by the owners or acknowledged when we left. We also thought the cottage would have been a bit Christmasy but no tree or devs. Also a little welcome pack would have been a nice touch, good job we had brought milk and bits with us as no local shops, bed was nice and comfy”

“Was comfortable and cosy however wasn't in the castle grounds as we had hoped (rather on a main road) , no access to front door (only back door) and wasn't decorated for Xmas like we had been told it would be. Also had no preliminary checking in details and the hot tub was leaking aswell”

“We have stayed at Jubilee Cottage many times over the past few years as a multi-generational family with a dog, at all times of the year. It is a well equipped, comfortable and welcoming property, very conveniently placed in the old part of Southwold, 5 mins from the beach and the High Street.”

“It was easy to book our holiday. The apartment was comfortable and handy for shops, beach, train and transport. The kitchen was quite compact and to have the washing machine high in a cupboard was a bit mad, even a person over 6ft could not see what they were doing, maybe a ladder would be helpful. We still enjoyed our time there.”

“Great little cottage - unfortunately on arrival we could not find the safety key to get in - it was not where it was expected or described to be!!!? We rang the company up to help us - but where they thought the key would be was a different place!!? The owner happened to be just about to leave next door and was able to help us. Phew!! We are short people so the low beams on entry and the bottom of the stairs were not a problem. Incredibly tight corner positioned is the loo - again long legs would not cope very well. On the positives the kitchen was compact and well laid out, very comfortable bed and seating. Location was good and we spent a lovely week relaxing there. Would go again.”

“What an absolute disaster, I was only in the room for 15minutes and I was on the phone asking to be put somewhere else, it was absolutely disgusting, never stayed in such a dirty place, the location was lovely, and Tenby was a pleasure to see, but the accommodation well it left us speechless. Don’t whatever you do book this place. Dirty damp bathroom just 3ft from bed and kitchen had no door paper peeling off the wall with black mold behind it , build up of dirt in corners , I could go on, but you have to see it to understand the smell and dinge of the place, but the view from window is stunning, it’s just when you turn back to the room. A nightmare.”

“We recently stayed at Millstone Meadow - Old Sodbury, Gloucestershire. Very spacious 2-bed barn conversion situated in beautiful countryside with easy access to Bath and Bristol. Plenty of parking for 2 large vehicles, outdoor area for seating and dogs welcome. Internally, the conversion is very well appointed and in spotless condition. We look forward to staying again in the future. Jodie & Mark :D”

“We loved our stay at the Old Sunday School, a stunning property with lots of character with a lovely garden, in a peaceful quiet area. Even more beautiful than the photos and it was very clean and nicely equipped. Great base for exploring. Had a fab week end of July, would definitely recommend.”

“Holiday cottages.co.uk definitely have staff attitude issues . Stayed in the retreat swallow barn upper Clovelly. Having reported to the owner on 3 separate days about constant banging from accommodation above and requesting to.be moved this company basically said never had any complaints before and the people staying in accommodation above have stayed there five times previously.Told us to expect noise ..So basically it's our fault is what he was trying to say.. ... . Definitely one to avoid ...Reviews on property are good but you can't review it without an invite from holiday cottages.co.uk I wonder if they send invites to unhappy customers ???. ..As for holiday cottages .co.uk I would never use them again. ....”

“We stayed in Bay House in Dunoon the weekend of the 5th of December. The house and location were lovely. Great size house and plenty of space to eat and gather together. Everyone had a great time, we are a family, ages from 1year old to 62. Well laid out and stocked house. Would have been nice to have it decorated for Christmas as we don’t get a chance to all get together on the 25th. Would recommend and stay again.”

“We had the misfortune to be sent to an absolute dump, the situation was lovely, couldn’t have wished for better BUT the accommodation was so dirty, not even a wardrobe, had to keep clothes in suitcase. Dirty bathroom inches from the bed…. Oh I could go on , but I think you get the picture, we were at Sparta house Tenby .”
