“1 pumphouse cottage promised so much by its 5 star rating and customer feed back. In reality the lounge is a dark hole. It had an overpowering smell of dog and or fly spray. By the time we unloaded the car the lounge and kitchen had a unacceptable number of flies landing on all surfaces. Food prep was impossible. After a night of flies landing on our faces and over breakfast landing on our food we gave up and left. This is not a 5 star property the shower especially needs a major make over. Sorry to say Holiday cottages have still failed to contact us after emails and even a letter sent by us. A TOTALY RUINED HOLIDAY.”

“We enjoyed our stay at Cheyne Apartment in Ilfracombe. It was easy to book and responses to emails were prompt. I would just ask that more detailed information is provided regarding properties, i.e. provision of hairdryers, coffee makers. Also it was not clear on the website description that towels were not provided. Possibly the property owner's error though.”

“Absolutely lovely week spent here. Only wish Is the pool was a little less deep but we got around it. The house is amazing and worth every penny. The little welcome pack was lovely. Sally was helpful and always around and even posted on some stuff we left behind. Highly recommend. Worth every penny!”

“It ist a lovely Cottage but needs some adjustment. There has been issues with the hot water in the handwashbasin and the sink in the kitchen there was non... But the House itself is lovely and the Village a dream!”

“Lovely lodge. Very family friendly. Brilliant hosts. Wished we had stayed longer. Excellent bedtime story books available for 7 year old. Hot tub top notch. Brilliant local information provided.”

“I have booked twice with the Company and if I got stuck whilst booking or making a payment there was a very kind efficient human to guide me through process! Not a great techie myself and was made to feel comfortable and I would be happy to book through them again with peace of mind! Good information and reminders when final payment due and then full details for destination and owners.”

“River cottage in Fordingbridge was a lovely location, lesley was very welcoming Situated on the river bank as described however the property was in need of a deep clean in some areas mainly the kitchen and bathroom, the oven especially needed a deep clean, also the gap between the fridge and worktop, the bathroom had no floor covering on it except for a small bathroom mat, the towels also needed replacing, if these things were attended to this would be a lovely cottage in a beautiful village.”

“This is a lovely cottage. We loved the garden and the internal layout was just right. Modern interior and good quality fittings, towels and bedding. Owners very friendly and welcoming pack was much appreciated. It's very rural and quite a drive to get anywhere if you intend to explore the area.”

“Easy booking process. Like the fact that you can pay in two instalments. Good communication before the stay. However, after the stay I sent detailed feedback on issues with the property that I had stayed at - but did not get any response from holidaycottages.co.uk (which is why I can only score a 3, the after-service needs to be improved)”
