The Railway Carriage was in need of a good clean. The sinks were dirty, there was mould all around the shower tray, there was dust on numerous surfaces and underneath the settee it was filthy.

It was in a perfect location near the river Eden, easy access for the Lake District and the Pennines. So much to do and places to see, the food was delicious wherever we went. Penrith is a beautiful place to wander and take in the atmosphere

Simple & easy to use. The website is great & easy to find exactly what you’re looking for. This is our third time now, & all three places did not disappoint. We highly recommend this site & its customer service.

The cottage was perfect for our family holiday. The grandchildren loved the garden and the swings and side were a treat for them. We are out door people so the fire pit got used a fair bit along with the bbq. The house was very comfortable, each room was almost self contained so everyone had their own space. The beds were super comfy, the kitchen was a delight to use. The area is stunningly beautiful with some lovely walks, local pub is very quirky but served a lovely pint. I would recommend this place for family’s of all ages.

Very, very small, over £1000 for a week a stand in bath shower a toilet that was so small we could barely move. The cottage did not have full sky tv,only free view. The cottage was very expensive, we have had far better value for money.

When we had a slight problem with our original booking the team at holiday cottages were excellent in sourcing an alternative location and undertaking the booking for us.

Couldn’t really fault service from this company. The cottage was lovely - photos accurate etc. If anything, cottage was even better than photos. Hosts friendly and helpful and we have already left them a very positive review. Communication from Holiday Cottages was timely and helpful. Would use this company again.

The cottage was spacious, clean and had so many features that we couldn’t use them all. The weather was against making the most of the patio facilities but we tried the hot tub. For anyone who just wants to stay put, there was everything you and your dog could want. We like exploring but discovered the local OS map too late, sadly. Plenty of storage space was useful.

Corfu Cottage is an old style property that has all facilities needed for a relaxing holiday, in a great location to discover south Devon. Easy walk down to Dawlish, impossible walk back up for seniors.

Tucker away cottage in Seaton, Devon was a beautiful two bedroom cottage which was comfy, cosy and clean. It was very well situated for the beach and the high street. It had everything we needed and more. The only problem we encountered was the car parking permit information was very out of date. It stated we could get a permit at the Tourist information office which was not in the location stated and when we found it they had stopped issuing them two years ago. We got one on line eventually. All in all a very nice, peaceful cottage.

The garden, with two dogs, was in accessible and the bottom step was flooded. No carpets in the bedrooms, just some worn rugs, and the second bedroom was Spartan, no bedside table or lamp. The armchair and settee in the siting room were worn and need replacing.

My partner and I reserved Fairfield Heights in Ilfracombe, through the Holiday Cottages website for a stay from September 20th to 27th, 2025. Upon arrival, we saw a for-sale sign in the front garden, which was overgrown with weeds, and plants spilling onto the footpaths. When we unlocked the door, we were hit with a strong smell of damp or wet dog, likely due to the wet weather the week before. A quick look around revealed extensive black mold in the bathroom—around the taps, along the sealant, and on the walls. The beds were sagging in the middle, with collapsed mattress edges that were badly stained. The kitchen had been wiped down superficially, but there were food remnants on the worktop near the cooker and down its sides, showing it hadn’t been properly cleaned in ages. The freezer had a significant ice buildup and filthy drawers. The back of the property was similarly neglected, with algae and grime built up on the walls and paths. The enclosed grass area had dog mess that hadn’t been cleared. We reported all of this to Holiday Cottages with photographic evidence. We also noted the absence of a visible gas safety certificate and a fire extinguisher. After searching, we found a fire blanket buried under clutter in a cupboard under the sink. The property owner did nothing to address these issues, and we informed Holiday Cottages that we would not stay there. Holiday cottages told us that they only advertise and take the bookings and that the property is managed by the owner, and there was nothing they could do.
