“Why would a company send a "we would love to hear from you" email to a customer who has made a formal complaint? Property was dirty, unprepared, had a broken door key, nappy in bin, blood stain on mattress cover, broken oven and fridge to name a few.”

“What a lovely relaxing week we had in this lovely property. We had everything we needed to keep us happy and the dog was overjoyed with the lovely fields and walks around. We would certainly love to come back”

“The cottage we rented for a week was worn, tired, dirty, the decking was broken where dogs or children could fall through or escape, feeling very let down by Holiday Cottages who still can’t confirm when this house was last inspected! Shame on you”

“No problem with the booking process and again, it was an easy to book. We have used this company many times before and have been very happy with the service they provide. We stayed in May this year at a beautiful cottage in Crayke, Yorkshire called The Granary at Halfway House. The hosts, Nik and David, were extremely accommodating and welcoming. They also gave us useful information regarding local dog walks. The cottage was very spacious ,spotlessly clean and had high end equipment and finish. Its has plenty of charm and character with an enclosed and dog friendly garden. The garden is private with lovely seating to enjoy. We are hoping one day soon, to return to the cottage. One of our favourite cottages that we have stayed in over the many years we have been taking this type of holiday.”

“It didn’t make us happy. I went into the High Street office of Holliday Cottages in Southwold to report a faulty and dangerous kettle. The staff member said Upper East Lodge was not one of theirs. WRONG! On the fifth day of our holiday we returned to discover we had NO electricity. It was 6pm. I called the emergency number (open until 6.30pm) Verified my booking reference and expressed my distress. Everything was spoiling in the fridge and I had a young child to feed. No tv or internet! Only light. I was told that someone would call me back straight away. That was SATURDAY The return call came at 10am MONDAY after we had vacated the property. The office in Southwold could not help because they only open Tuesday, Wednesday Thursday . I asked for a refund of one night plus loss of perishable fridge food. In the end they agreed to £50 plus one night. In hindsight they could/should have compensated me for loss of enjoyment and breach of contract. Pretty poor customer care all around!”

“Mariners 2 was a fabulous cottage, very homely and comfortable. A king size bed would be a nice to have. The cottage is in a fabulous location and the views are stunning.”

“Absolutely disgusting. I was told a week before the holiday that there was building works going so I asked to change my booking. They said I couldn’t even though they had only just told me about it and I’d loose all my money. When we got there the neighbour told me that the building works had been going on since February, ages before I booked. It was deceit. Plus the property was very dirty with urine smelling dirty lined strewn down the stairs, mould, dirt …… you name it, plus a garden full of dog excrement, it was disgusting. The neighbour told me the owner just didn’t have time to clean it properly…….nit my problem! So if it was possible I’d give holiday cottages a big fat zero. I am taking them to the small claims court, my petition is in progress. Take my advice and double check everything before you book. They lie and cheat hard working people out of their very hard earned cash.”

“Beach cottage was lovely. Well equipped and comfortable. The back decking area was a great extra. The noise from restaurant next door did not distract too much. The location so close to Croyde beach is fantastic. We had a great week weather wise and our stay with our daughter her 2 children and boyfriend, was made even more memorable as they got engaged on the beach ❤️”
