Bait and switch tactic: Rep tells me over the phone, after I described a VERY SIMPLE fridge removal job (live on one level, very short and easy route to front door) that the cost would be between $129 and $149 plus tax. She said the exact price would be given upon arrival of the crew. I had two other firm quotes for $149 but chose Just Junk because they could pick up the same day. Shortly after arrival, one of the crew said the cost would be $199 plus tax with no explanation.... a 33% increase over the max estimate given. I told the guys to leave and that I'd choose another pickup company. Well, they got back to $149 in a hurry, realizing that their greed had almost cost them the deal. Pretty shabby, unethical treatment imho. Watch out for these guys and their 'bait and switch' tactics.

We always appreciate customer comments and have ensured to forward yours to management.  Regarding our pricing, JUSTJUNK® policy dictates that ranges are not to be provided by our Customer Service representatives over the phone, while a single “ballpark” number may in some cases be provided. In the frequent review of our calls, and in adherence to our call guidelines, this remains the case with all of our customer service representatives.  As such, all final pricing is confirmed by the truck teams as they arrive and see the item(s) they will be removing, and all quotes come with no charge or obligation.
I would not recommend this company. Rent your own truck for less than half the price. I was way overcharged. Buyers remorse.

On Friday July 8 2022 we had a Just Junk come to our home to give an appraisal on moving a piano. The individual told us he would send an email with the quate. We have been waiting over a week and have heard nothing. Called the head office. twice on different days asking about our quote. W e were told the information had not been downloaded and assured us we would get it. We are still waiting. Would not trust anyone that cannot keep a promise. If they can't get back to you when they say they would how can you trust them to come and pick up your furniture? As Gerry Seinfeld once said "you know how to take a reservation you just don't know how to keep a reservation".

Ordered just junk for today. Appt was for between 9:00 and 11:00 am. Was quoted for 1 1/2 trucks to 2 trucks. Truck came 1/2 full with other stuff. Advised them I would not pay for stuff that was already in their truck. Was told they would come back but only after 4. I'v done this a few times and there is no way there was 2 truck worth of stuff.

As is our policy, our volume pricing ensures you only pay for the space that your items take up in our truck. Charges do not occur for items outside of your own when free estimates are provided for any junk removal service.
Horrible experience. They never showed up after giving a two hour time block and then another time when they couldn't make the first time. and they double the price once they contact you. If you question it, they say they don’t want ‘to waste their time to come out for an estimate.’ Save your money and time and contact any of the many other companies providing junk removal who are more reliable and less expensive. Other poor reviews are very accurate. I wish I had read them before booking with this company.

They had everything set up for them doors propped backs removed vacuumed and ready to go in and out in ten minutes and still charged us $200 we asked for the perfectly good furniture to be donated and the just tossed it in the back and said they can't donate upholstered furniture no matter what the condition. In hind sight we should have just thrown it to the curd and saved $200 buck. No where on their website does it say upholstered furniture goes to the dump!

May 17 2022. To start the drivers phoned the wrong phone number and left 2 msgs on my home land line rather than calling the apartment cell # provided. Had to reschedule the elevator for 1 - 3 pm that afternoon. The drivers did not show in the pm. After speaking to about 5 phone representative the drivers phoned and said they would be another hour and a 1/2. Elevator would no longer be available. They lied and said they showed up. But, I was washing the windows looking out to the front street entrance and they did not come. Then they claimed they came into the secure building. They then claimed they knocked on the apt. door. They did not. Besides there is an old fashioned mail slot that could have been used to let their presence be known. Completely incompetent. Tell me, who is going to compensate me for my days wages that I lost. Your company does not have a mailing address. I would have preferred to have written a letter about my experience so that someone might actually read it and pay attention. Shame on you. Reference # 498210 May 17, Winnipeg

This company has no idea the value of Honesty, they quote you one price on line and it seems very reasonable, they show up get into your home and now the sad looking quote they provide on there phone shows up and it’s 5x the the original cost?? Oh would you like me to call my boss to see if I can get you a better price? What a joke, I would not recommend them to my worst friends, they post all these amazing reviews on there web site I should have known better too to trust that. Once I looked at other posts I can see how the truth is really spoken about this company. Absolute Joke.

Reserved a bin and confirmed if the amount of space we had on site was adequate. I was told it would be sufficient. After waiting for it the next day, I received a call from the driver saying that the space available would not be enough and that if they came to the house to check it would cost me $90. I had to cancel the order with now a mad scramble to find another garbage service to remove junk from my house that needed to be gone for work to continue in my house as it is undergoing renovation. Poor communication on their end which is disappointing because I was hoping to have worked with them.

Very unprofessional service. Made an initial appointment with instructions and pictures of items to be removed, but they did not bring a large enough truck. I was told they would return the next day as this was their mistake and that there would be no additional charge. We were initially scheduled for a time between 10-1:00, received a call day asking if they could come earlier but we werent ready and asked to stick with the original time - they confirmed they would arrive by 11:00. At 11:45 I was told they would not be there until 2 but Scott could send someone "right away"...At 1:00 I was told they were still more than an hour away and that the person Scott called was almost 2 hours away. Very unprofessional, in fact at some point Scott used a very derogatory term for people with intellectual disabilities....When they finally arrived I needed to step out to the store a I had been waiting for more than 3 hours past my confirmed time. While I was shopping I missed there call and immediately began receiving threatening text messages from the drivers and Scott informing me if I did not contact them in 10 minutes that they would remove my items from their truck. Do not give these people any of your money. Horrible experience

The truck arrived, already pretty full, near the very end of the pick up window then refused to take anything because they didn't have time and only had an hour and it sounded like they really didn't want to have to work to remove the junk. Also, they were going to charge almost twice what the advertised price for a full load would be.

Made an online appointment a week ago and was told 45 minutes past my booked time today that no one would be able to show up. This is the worst customer service and the person who took my phone call at your customer service centre couldn’t have cared less. The only person who tried was the driver. Overall I won’t recommend your company to anyone!

Unfortunately Just Junk couldn't deliver the services they promise to deliver on their website. I contacted this business to help my elderly parents get rid of old appliances and general junk prior to their move here in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. I sent a detailed list of items to be disposed of when I first approached them about 3-4 days before the day of service. To my surprise, when they arrived on-site, they called me to ask which items were being disposed of. That was the first red flag. My elderly mother had to do a walkthrough of the property to once again indicate which items were being disposed. Following this walkthrough, their employee not only insisted on charging me BEFORE rendering the service but the price changed several times during one single phone conversation. Second red flag. After spending over $550CAD, I was informed by my family that they left behind one of the largest items: a dishwasher. So I called Just Junk to inquire further only to be told that they could not dispose of a dishwasher if it is connected to a water source or electricity. The alleged boss claimed this would not be possible because of some obscure "government law" and their business insurance preventing them from disconnecting appliances. He even went as far as stating this was imposed by the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) of Ontario. How can this be? I figured maybe I was misinformed. I scanned their website (https://justjunk.com/appliance-removal) to see if this had been mentioned. I looked at my booking confirmation email. Nothing. Not once did they mention this limitation before taking my money. The irony in all of this is that they were somehow able to get rid of my parents' washer, dryer and a horizontal freezer with no issue. Either the folks I dealt with lied & are lazy or there's a serious gap in information posted on their website that needs to be addressed. You would think this type of information would be volunteered during my 2-3 interactions with them. I was left quite disappointed seeing as Just Junk was quite responsive when I was a prospective client. Everything changed once they got paid. Horrible client experience. Save your time & money and go elsewhere.

We are sorry to hear that we did not meet your expectations after the job we did here in Ottawa. Your first Issue seems to be that we wanted to have a walk around and confirm the items to be removed on site, which is standard practice and allows us to give you a quote before we begin the work. In a lot of cases the lists of items provided can change between booking and job time, so this allows us to give you an accurate quote as well as adjust to any changes in circumstances. In the case of doing a job with the person paying over the phone, we do take payment first. This is simply to ensure we do get paid in a timely fashion. In your case the price did change several times as you put it, as your Mother remembered more items that were to go. The first time a buffet and hutch in the dining room was added. The second time a freezer and desk from the basement was added. As we charge according to volume, the price did change. The next day you did contact our crew and state that a dishwasher was missed in the initial call. We offered to go pick it up and you were advised that it had to be disconnected for us to do so. We are not licensed plumbers, electricians or appliance repair people, so we do not disconnect dishwashers or hard wired appliances of any sort. We have included the link to the ESA below to demonstrate who can do this work. Had we been shown the dishwasher at the initial walk through all of this information would have been provided at that time. Pre-scheduled a pickup for a client of mine who took a vacation day and drove from Oakville to Toronto for the scheduled pickup time. Not only did the company not show up but after 3 separate calls into the company with a promise of a call back for an explanation, we have still not heard anything back a day later! A score of 1 star is too high,very disappointed at the lack of respect and courtesy shown by the company. We understand that things happen but to not even call with an explanation shows a lack of professionalism that we would expect from any company!

I just called the Windsor office to ask about a removal project while we are in federal quarantine. The person I spoke to refused to confirm whether or not our donation items (90% of the items to be removed - most of which could actually be sold if I had the time or energy) will be stored until they can be donated at the end of the current lockdown. She simply repeated only truck drivers can say where items will go - and refused to allow me to speak to a supervisor because we cannot meet with a driver due to quarantine. She did not deny it when I said I can only assume they are simply disposing of all donation items during lockdown - she just repeated the same line over and over. This company should acknowledge their disposal plans openly so customers can make informed decisions.

Hi Annette, we've spoken to our representatives in an effort to improve the messaging on our donations and disposal communication. We are able to donate many of the items we remove yet, as you mentioned, the provincial lockdowns do present some roadblocks to our usual disposal practices. While we, of course, would love to store as many items as possible for future donation this is oftentimes difficult to do and as such it is up to the discretion of the Truck Teams to discuss that with our customers either over the phone or in person. We're sorry for the confusion.
I had the Just Junk team come to my home in the Junction Triangle yesterday and had booked between 5-7pm. They called me at 2:30 asking to come early, I stated I was on calls and unable to come out to greet them however the team said they would remove the items and send me pictures while I was on my calls and I could pay remote. Great I thought! Well they sent me pictures not showing the actual area they'd removed trash from in the back, as I was on a call I was distracted and didn't realize so paid the bill and added a tip. I came out there today to see that they hadn't swept the area at all, they sent me a picture of a different angle where I had cleaned over the weekend. This behavior is unethical and though try as I might to reach a real person to get my tip back (which clearly was not earned) no one is willing to speak to me. I have been a loyal Just Junk customer for years, I will never use their services again.

Booked it online with details of location and stuff. Day before they called me and cancelled with no apology saying they do t do retirement homes with covid. Left me high and dry with elevator booked. Why didn't they call me when I made the reservation. Fortunately was able to book Two Men and Truck last minute for same timeslot. Not professional.
