Established in October 2000 Lexham Insurance was originally formed as a specialist broker handling Moped, Scooter and Motorcycle Insurance. The operation has rapidly expanded and now handles polices for tens of thousands of riders and drivers in the UK and Northern Ireland.

“I had my scooter stolen, they have done absolutely nothing and said this is due my security not being up to their standards which is the thickness or branding of the chain. I've had a lot of security on my bike and it was in a safe place. They declined any claims for me. Worst insurance I ever used.”

“Not the cheapest. But buying on price only, especially insurance, is not necessarily the best policy. Lexham Insurance has convenient phone opening times. They are U.K. based and no irritating foreign call centre with people speaking unintelligible English. Fast call connection and no undue call waiting. My insurance was slightly awkward....it was for a new moped that wasn’t officially on DVLA yet, although I had a provisional registration number. I hadn’t actually passed my CBT yet. And I was 16 yet! But they were still able to quote and promised to phone me at 10 am on the Saturday of my CBT training, a day after my birthday. They did so. But I hadn’t finished my CBT yet! So they phone me back at 3pm. But, due to bad weather, my CBT end was delayed by an hour and I asked them to contact me at 4pm. They did so, bang on time. Then...I anted to put my foster parent down as a second driver...and also anted to protect the high excess which applies on all moped policies. Only £3 extra for my foster-dad and £64 to insure against the loss of £600 excess in the event of a claim. Then I asked them to email me the insurance certificate BUT...also email the bike dealer, who needed a copy of it before he could deliver my new moped. All done without fuss, immediately. The basic premium was 9% more than the cheapest I found on go compare. Worth pay8ng, just to talk to an British person, in Britain, with owning hours at the weekend and friendly, helpful staff”
