They show nothing but contempt for their client base. A subscription was paid twice in error five months ago, and despite agreeing this was the case, and despite a handful of requests they have failed (refused?) to make any repayment. Legal action seems to be my next step as contacting directors there has produced no results. Beware this company if you are considering a regular subscription.

This company does not even deserve 1 star, but it's required to leave a review. I had 2 subscriptions with them, one print and the other one went fully digital. I canceled the digital subscription so it wouldn't auto-renew. At the time of cancellation, I had 7 issues remaining on each subscription since I always renew them together. When they canceled the digital version also canceled the print magazine and removed all future issues from both subscriptions. Never, never, never use this company. They are dishonest and there is no transparency - you can't even see your billing history in your account, so you have no way to prove anything. I took a screenshot before the cancellation and it showed 7 issues were still on my prepaid subscription (see photo), but they refuse to acknowledge it so I'm out a good amount of money. Additionally, they will not allow you to download your magazines; you can only print 2 pages at a time. If you discontinue your digital subscription, you lose access to everything even things you already paid for. This should be illegal.

Ordered two copies of a magazine end of June of a magazine that was out at that time but I could not locate a copy. Never received order, reached out to customer service, they said wait. Still didn't receive so reached out again, they said they resent order and checked address. Never received, they said wait 5 weeks. Never received. Wish I had looked at the reviews before sending them an order as sadly their actual business is to rip consumers off. Absolutely scam and fraudulent company.

Ordered How it Works on 9th May - now 16th August and after numerous promises that its been re-ordered and will arrive within 10 days etc we have yet to receive any magazines. I can only conclude MD are grossly incompetent or are scammers

It's been over six months.....SIX MONTHS since my order was placed and they are JUST NOW offering a refund.

I asked for my account to be paused whilst i was other of the country, I had just paid a recent DD so I had 12 weeks remaining. When I returned to the U.K. they started the subscription and charged me for another 12 weeks, so I got in contact and they refunded me, but then they also paused my account as i didnt receive a magazine for two weeks, so I emailed again to get it started. 4 weeks later the same thing happens again, I get charged (even though I had 4 weeks remaining), and then had to contact again for a refund. I didnt get a response for days so I asked them to respond by a certain date or I would be cancelling, they responded by cancelling my account anyway, although that isnt want I asked. I am still to receive the remaining 4 weeks, or a refund for these magazines.

I just got scammed. Order placed as the BBC said this is where to get the book. Wish I had not. Told my wife who said she had just got the same book for me for xmas. Emailed the company within 5 minutes of placing the order asking to cancel. No reply. emailed the following day. No reply. Same the next day. Got an email "we are preparing your order" replied asking them to cancel but no reply. Emailed the next day. Got an email a few hours later saying they have just posted the order, then a whole pile of emails offering discounts and other offers (spam). Book received, can't find a way to return the book so emailed them to find out how, I do not expect a reply as they have not responded to any yet. May have to bite the bullet on this one.

I purchased two limited edition Halloween Metal Hammer magazines on October 13. I had an issue once I realized that I had to change my shipping address as I used Paypal instead of my card and there was a huge issue there. I got told multiple times that my order "didn't exist" about 3-4 times, until I showed multiple pictures of bank statements showing that I had purchased these items, and even got a confirmation email. After this, I still never received a shipping notification and had been unable to create an account on the site to check on it myself for some god awful reason. Finally yesterday (11/7/23), one arrived. It was "packaged" in a thin plastic wrapping if you even want to consider it that, and the magazine is badly damaged. It is bent, has creases, and a huge tear across the front cover. Not to mention, the second one hasn't arrived yet, which one would think they would arrive at the same time. I can tell you, after all the trouble with "support" and the damage on the one I received, I am not purchasing from this company again.

Highly recommend not using this company. I subscribe specifically for issue 374. I got issue 373 and 375. They said they resent 374 but they didn't and now they're saying my subscription that I paid for didn't cover that issue. Rip off company with lousy customer support!

Magazines Direct changed my MacLife Magazine print subscription to a digital one without my permission. In addition, they are so incompetent they could not get my digital account to work and I cannot access the digital MacLife Magazines. I've requested a refund and they are completely ignoring me and have not refunded me. I'll never do business with them again.

Do not, do not, do not use this company for any subscription services. I have been battling with them for almost 3 months now. When I initially ordered my subscription, I received the offer of 3 issues for £1 and then a rolling payment of £24.99 every 6 months. This is what is on my booking statement and was the advertised price at the time. After my issues took ages to arrive I phoned up to find out what was going on. In doing this, I discovered that my fee was in fact £23.99 every 3 months, meaning I would have been paying almost double what I was expecting. I have been calling and emailing for weeks now trying to resolve this issue. Every time I phone, I receive different information and now I have phoned and been told my subscription was canceled. When I explicitly told them to not cancel it over the phone, and that any actions must be sent by email so I had proof of what was occurring. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME WITH THIS JOKE COMPANY. Complete scam.

Magazines Direct should get 0 out of 5, if only Reviews.io permitted this. Save your money. Don't use Magazines Direct. They owed us a refund for a magazine that went out of publication. They told us they would provide the refund - and eleven months later we still don't have it. They told us they had provided us the refund via Paypal - lie. They then told us they had sent us the refund by cheque - lie. They are dishonest. The only way to protect your money is not to take out a subscription with them. We have left reviews on other sites to which Magazines Direct have replied that if they check our details they will promptly provide the refund. We have tens of emails from Magazines Direct confirming the refund is owing and saying they will provide the refund - but they never do - and if you read the review sites you will see that this is a common dishonest practice by Magazines Direct. The authorities should be investigating them for fraud. We have written to them to request they do so.

Don't use Magazines Direct. They have owed us a refund for 9 months now. They lied and said they'd sent it to Paypal, when they hadn't. They then lied again and said they'd sent us a cheque, when they hadn't. They continue to not provide the refund although refunding back to Paypal is easy (as is writing a cheque, old-fashioned as it is). They are dishonest. They are fishing for bank account details of their customers. Don't fall for the scam. Avoid them. The best way to protect your money is not to shop with Magazines Direct.

I've received consistently poor support from Magazines Direct since Future Publishing absorbed Imagine publishing. They lost my purchase history and took eight months over two different tickets to tell me this. Support raised my subscription rates when I replaced an expired credit card. Magazines direct has twice taken my payment and then claimed they never received it. Twice! I had to dispute the transactions with my bank! I'd report them to the Better Business Bureau if they had jurisdiction in the UK. I'm convinced that there are language barriers with the India-based support and that they consistently use scripted language to simulate support like a placebo.

i have been a customer for years, i took out a subscription that was auto renew and i phoned Magazines Direct to ask them to cancel it before the renewal period as i had taken out a new subscription at a better rate with them for the same person and same magazine. However , they failed to cancel it as i had requested so sent 2 x copies to the same person for the next 3 months and charged me twice, when i realised this and contacted them to check that they had definitely cancelled the first subscription they claimed that they had no record of my call and refused to refund this. So poor processes, zero customer focus, and they have lost my custom, i subscribe to a lot of magazines and have never had such a bad service experience as with this company, i will never ever use them again , i hope it was worth the cost of 3 magazines at manufacturing cost to them to lose a long term customer and receive a negative review, great business model !

Just what is going on with this company? After 2 years subscription for NPhoto, they shorten my subscription and make excuses for it. I was promised 13 issues per year - I got 11 and then they said a 'summer' issue was included - as far as I know NPhoto doesn't do one as I didn't get one the year before. I think also they rely on people not remembering when their sub starts/ends and try to con us into renewing early to get more money. I used their live chat to try to sort it out and they cut me off!
