Recently I was swapped to New Day as the new operator of the John Lewis Partnership card. I did not have a good first experience. I was called by 'New Day' on my mobile phone and asked to provide various details, full name, address, date of birth etc.... I, of course, refused. I asked them how do I known you are who you say you are and not a scammer. They could not answer. I ended the call. Now I find my new Partnership card has been stopped. After calling the customer service number and waiting for 45 minutes, I gave up and resorted to Twitter. Still awaiting meaningful contact. Avoid this company at all costs. They are useless at absolutely every level. Atrocious.

DO NOT BORROW WITH THESE FRAUDSTERS Horrendous!! Didn’t take my direct debit details when the credit was taken with AO, so then proceeded to send a letter and email saying they’ve reported it to credit reference agencies until I pay. I try to pay by card, website says ‘we can’t accept payments at this time’ so I set up a direct debit for 100x the minimum payment in which they proceed to not bother to use to take a payment, withdraw the credit offer that exists and threaten credit reference agencies again. Suffice to say I had the cash to pay it off anyway so I’ve paid it off because THEY HAVE NO BLOODY CONTACT DETAILS TO DISCUSS WITH ANYONE! Absolutely atrocious none of their systems are talking to each other clearly. I’m appalled.

Appalling phone system, appalling customer service. If they can't answer your question on LiveChat the agents ignore you and inactivate the session. Statements still unavailable online 2 days after statement production date, email notifications of statements late. John Lewis have made a huge mistake by selecting NewDay as their card service provider and it doesn't reflect well on either company. After 20 years with a John Lewis Credit Card and now applying with another card company so that I can ditch the NewDay/John Lewis card.

Terrible company - will avoid any company that uses them. Shocking customer service and have to write to them - not email - write for explanations...

Long standing John Lewis card holder, but only offered £400 credit by NewDay. Decided to try American Express, and within 2 minutes online was offered £10K credit. JL should have contracted with NewDay for them to accept all current customers and credit limits. NewDay obviously do not want people who pay off their credit every month.

It is virtually impossible to speak to a customer adviser. The IVR system is not fit for purpose. They send you letters to tell you to call them for a refund if you are in credit (their mistake). You cannot get through, have to listen to a woman repeating herself every few seconds and some ping pong music in between, often for up to an hour or more. You are advised of an option to call back or go on the website. The website doesn’t answer questions and you cannot send a message. Do not get an account with this company.

One star is generous. NEWDAY have taken over the John Lewis Partnership Card which I have had for many years. They have decided to not issue me one despite high income and near perfect credit score. When I queried I received a simplistic response cut and pasted from a template, and poorly written. I also spoke to John Lewis who were very civilised and apologised for the new card provider. I replaced the card with one from a major bank who were happy to provide and had wiser credit criteria. NEWDAY were a bad experience and I certainly would not touch their products.

After decades of having a John Lewis credit card with a credit limit of £7,000 and paying off the balance monthly, her replacement card from New Day has a credit limit of £250. It is impossible to understand the thought process that arrived at such a decision. Are they totally incompetent, trying to destroy the John Lewis reputation or is it some kind of mysterious scam. They certainly are not a credible credit card company.

Always pay my Amazon Credit Card in full every month Last month Statement £391-01. Underpaid by one pence got a late payment penalty charge £9-95. So it’s goodbye to Newday after many years.

I had a credit card with Laura Ashley as it gave me an extra 10% off my sofa I paid the deposit with the new day card and Laura Ashley went into administration the next day, under the terms of the credit card agreement New day were liable to refund my deposit. When I rang them they told me that they had no records of this and I should be write to them.Nurmerous letters and phone calls still no records. They eventually refunded me after I said I was going to contact the financial ombudsman. I shall not be renewing my John Lewis card.

Refused new card by Newday and they won’t tell me why unless I write to them, yes pen and paper not email. I’m like many, pay off monthly and had a good credit limit. Had a number of calls and emails with them and JL. JL say it’s not their problem but will be when all us refused and hacked off customers go elsewhere …….. I’m back using my M&S card and will actively avoid JL.

Totally agree, will probably cancel my card as I don't get good vibes with this Company. Balance transfer a shambles. Preferred the old J L store card, far more professional.

Newday has an advert on TV and I must say I’ve never heard so much “bullshit” in my life …Newday are very damaging to JL… and are currently digging there grave… there won’t be a JL in a few years thanks to Newday because I have gone elsewhere…they are the worst finance company I’ve ever been with…. Rubbish customer service and very greedy when it comes to interest and repayments … Do not get involved with Newday… trust me you will seriously regret it

I wish I could give a negative star as Newday and I are incompatible. To mimic JL services will mean a being able to have conversation with a customer service agent within 5 mins of ringing when issues arise (might add, not very often with JL), having the issue investigated and resolved immediately and to be asked if there is anything else I would like help with. Newday is unable to deliver on these three so I’m matching on without them. Maybe JL can rethink and make amends. Probably too late.

Very poor management of transfer of John Lewis. Did not properly review application for renewal of card held for 10 years when managed by HSBC. Poor customer service response. Many others have commented similarly in national newspapers and on financial websites

Similar experience to others regarding John Lewis Partnership Card switch of finance provider. Current credit limit is £10,500; Newday provisionally offered £1,250 but I was declined. I like to think this is a testament to my good money management by paying the card off in full each month and therefore receiving c£50 in JL vouchers three times a year. Appreciate the economic climate is poor but JL need to exercise some caution otherwise their brand could be irrevocably damaged particularly in light of the recent retirement of their ‘Never Knowingly Undersold’ USP. Based on the reviews of others I will save myself the pain and inconvenience of trying to contact Newday’s customer service team and dust down my Nationwide credit card with cash back.

Worst migration to a new provider ever.. John Lewis should care surely? But this is only tarnishing the John Lewis brand. After this I’m less likely to buy from JL or Waitrose. Sorry but it’s not good enough.
