Since having been put into this card by John Lewis I have had endless problems too long to detail. If only I had come to this website earlier I could have saved myself days of problems and angst. What on earth were John Lewis thinking about? Frankly there is a nasty smell.

I have been with J&L for 65 years no problem. From day one of registration I felt this is not for me now its been proved. I recd. a bill and paid on 21 october through my bank. On 25 Oct Newday returns the payment back to my bank. And without letting me know they stopped the card. I contacted them 34.4mins they told me account NOwas missing. There and then I paid them. Today I get statement they are charging me £12 late payment and £9.56 interest. I think I stop using them it's not worth getting Hypertension.

Foolishly, on the strength of the good name of John Lewis and impeccable service using their card for many years, I applied for the New Day card. What on earth wereJL thinking with this. I cannot understand how a company with such a high reputation makes such a monumental mistake. I used my card for every purchase & paid by DD fully every month, but after using the New Day card a few times with difficulties each time, I’m off.

The NewDay/JL relationship is an unmitigated disaster for both parties. 1. JL (and thus Waitrose) will experience a massive drop in customers who feel badly mislead by the change of credit card provider. 2. In my case I intend to cease shopping at JL (and their chronically overpriced supermarket Waitrose; read the Which? reports), because one can see that the whole organisation is now beginning to fall apart. In Horsham, Aldi is developing a new store right next to JL/Waitrose. This may mark the end of that JL/Waitrose store 2. NewDay have mistreated JL customers on an appalling level and will have to explain themselves to the Financial Conduct Authority who will hopefully withdraw their licence. 3. JL are guilty of a serious management mistake in choosing NewDay as their credit card provider. What kind of research could they possibly have undertaken before making this disastrous decision? Heads must roll. Vote with your feet !!

The management of this card by Newday is dreadful. The helpline does nothing of the sort, one is at the point of exploding by the time you get to speak to someone, it is a deliberately convoluted process and often cuts you off after having spent ages navigating endless unrelated questions which steer you online deposit the fact the if you go on line it tells you to contact them. John Lewis should be better than this.

After years shopping with the JL card, receiving regular statements and paying them rapidly, I suddenly find that I am being charged for late payment. Contacting the company through web chat provides complicated answers in a tiny interface which is difficult to read

Like many previous reviewers our experience with NewDay as JLP card operator has been dreadful. Having held a store card for over 50 years, subsequently the JLP HSBC card and now the JLP NewDay version, we have always settled my wife's card account in full by the due date. Last Saturday we went to John Lewis to purchase an appliance but the charge to the JLP account was declined. Having checked the account it was clear there was ample balance we requested the salesperson to try again - declined again. We went for coffee to call the number on the card, well NewDay certainly know how to erect barricades to customer contact - all robotic with no apparent way to speak to a human being. Some 20 minutes after the payment was declined my wife received a text asking to confirm she was making such transaction. Other banks have much more swift mechanisms to check. Eventually, the transaction was tried again but in order to do so the salesperson had to restart the purchase process again. This third attempt went through. Various attempt to increase the credit limit online had been refused. So, in a call the following day to complain about the previous days events, we asked about increasing the credit limit (outlining in general terms net worth). We were advise to call on Monday when the "Appeals Team" would be available. Well Monday's performance, Frans Kafka would be proud: "You can't speak to Appeals because you are not eligible to appeal". Oh, why aren't we eligible to appeal. "I am not allowed to tell you why you are not eligible to appeal". All one can conclude is that NewDay are a bunch of fly-by-nights that Dame Sharon White should never have placed the JLP brand in their hands; having said that she has not made many good decisions in post.

If I can give "0" that would be the true rating for this provider. It is simply awful, with no customer service and no explanation on why the credit limit can't be increased, despite having a JL credit card for over 10 years (by HSBC) and a 10 times higher limit compared to what Newday offered. I am so disappointed that JL decided to associate with such an awful organization.

This company are doing fraud somewhere along the line, I have paid off my instalment plans I had with them through AO they have then used my money to pay off something I know nothing about to then make my instalments roll over. This company have added an extra £407.92 to my balance but can’t seem to tell me what this is for. I’m now going to get new day investigated for fraud. I’m so not happy I’ve been paying regularly every month by DD this company should be shut down. Someone somewhere is getting money for fun.

Atrocious company. Highly pursuaded by Amazon to get one of their credit cards which turned out to be Newday who I had never heard of. I used the card a few times to make purchases and paid off each month. I moved house and before I could contact them, unbeknown to me they sent me a new card with no notification. I didn't request one, there was no higher credit and there was still 18 months left on the original card. I contacted Newday when I tried to make a purchase through Amazon for my new home to find out why I couldn't use the card and it transpired they had sent me a new card. I was annoyed and cancelled my account. Several weeks later I retuned an item to Amazon for a refund. Amazon said "refunded to original payment card" I suddenly realised that it would be Newday, the account I'd closed and contacted Amazon. Amazon confirmed £112 had been sent to Newday but that if it couldn't be allocated they'd be in contact. No one contacted me and I spent hours of time on the phone between both companies, each blaming the other until eventually I suggested it might be something to do with the new card and found out that not only had a new card been issued but a new account too and that these "2" accounts were never linked! In addition, when I complained about when I would have gotten my £112 back it appears they only look into these refunds if the customer contacts them! Do they not have to balance their accounts? How many other refunds are they sitting on? I eventually got my refund weeks later but in the correspondence they sent state I had an unsecured loan at the time of £1100? and a payday loan of £440? I have had neither of these nor was or am, as they state on a letter, "in financial difficulty". I have complained to the Financial Ombudsman, however, I can see which way this will go as the business pays The Financial Ombudsman so will never be truly impartial and they don't seem to understand my complaint. This company should not be allowed to operate.

I wouldn't even give NEWDAY 1 star, but there is no option for no stars!! I have an ongoing issue from August whereby I signed up for a balance transfer from my old JL card to this NEWDAY card! BIG MISTAKE! After NEWDAY transferred back my balance transfer to my old JL card enabling me to use a credit card company with good reviews, NEWDAY are still chasing me for payments on a non existing balance transfer !!! It has gone to their complaints department, whereby I have just had another text message from them apologising that they still have not looked into my complaint!! That's 3 months from August! I am seriously looking into contacting 'Watchdog'! How could John Lewis have agreed to use this 10th rate company....I am beyond angry and it's starting to make me feel ill! ....

I recently joined Newday which was a MASSIVE mistake! Since joining I had nothing but problems I purchased an airfryer from ao.com but decided not to keep it as it was a lot smaller than expected. Item was collected by a courier on September 8 yet Newday sent me a recent email stating they were going to take a a payment on Nov 14th Was again on the phone today for just under an hour. Advisor said I owed zero so when I asked why I had received this email stating they were going to take a payment on the 14th I wad informed it was an automated email and he said other companies do this. Rubbish!!

Difficult to contact, phone says open until 5 pm but not working at 16.55! Holding for hours and still no reply. No address on their letters. They send an email with 'no reply'. Really poor. Still only using phone apps to authorise use of card. You can get better deals elsewhere. I have put not applicable in how I communicated because so far I haven't been able to communicate unless via John Lewis!

Offered £250 credit limit on new John Lewis card to replace current one which offers £7,800. Some kind of sick joke! Talk about feeling devalued. After 37 years loyal service to John Lewis there is just no point in getting the new replacement card. Given the amount of money I spend with this company £250 is a pure insult. What a sad end to what was for me a very long and happy relationship, and for John Lewis a very profitable one. They just don`t care about their customers anymore.

DOn't bother with the '0%' deal as they make their money by ignoring direct debit instructions and charging you fees. Totally fraudulent gangsters.

I am disappointed that John Lewis have moved to Newday now I realize my disabled daughter, is struggling with 49% apt to it's sister card FLUID. This is £200 a month out of her disability benefits on a £5000 debt built up due to poor mental health as a consequence of being bed bound so much with ME/CFS. This should be illegal, but I will now close my Partnership card which I pay off in full each month as I don't want to be their customer.

Just another example of deterioration in the service quality branded under John Lewis. Ever since NewDay took over the old JL card, the admittedly few occasions we have had to contact them have led to poor customer experience and a total lack of human service. Their processes such as for fraud prevention are lamentable. They blocked a small regular monthly payment to our mobile phone service provider as it was a suspected fraud, even though the same amount had been paid each month under all the same process many times before. We had to launch a complaint to be heard properly, but all this resulted in was a standard 'we didn't make any errors' complaints decision. Their processes are too automated and designed by people who really don't seem to be very experienced as customers at all. And there seems to be very poor understanding of what the JL brand has meant in the UK psyche for so many years. We would say NewDay is possibly going to be viewed as the final nail in JL's coffin over the next few years.
