“I wouldn't even give NEWDAY 1 star, but there is no option for no stars!! I have an ongoing issue from August whereby I signed up for a balance transfer from my old JL card to this NEWDAY card! BIG MISTAKE! After NEWDAY transferred back my balance transfer to my old JL card enabling me to use a credit card company with good reviews, NEWDAY are still chasing me for payments on a non existing balance transfer !!! It has gone to their complaints department, whereby I have just had another text message from them apologising that they still have not looked into my complaint!! That's 3 months from August! I am seriously looking into contacting 'Watchdog'! How could John Lewis have agreed to use this 10th rate company....I am beyond angry and it's starting to make me feel ill! ....”
“I recently joined Newday which was a MASSIVE mistake! Since joining I had nothing but problems
I purchased an airfryer from ao.com but decided not to keep it as it was a lot smaller than expected. Item was collected by a courier on September 8 yet Newday sent me a recent email stating they were going to take a a payment on Nov 14th
Was again on the phone today for just under an hour. Advisor said I owed zero so when I asked why I had received this email stating they were going to take a payment on the 14th I wad informed it was an automated email and he said other companies do this. Rubbish!!”
“Foolishly, on the strength of the good name of John Lewis and impeccable service using their card for many years, I applied for the New Day card. What on earth wereJL thinking with this. I cannot understand how a company with such a high reputation makes such a monumental mistake. I used my card for every purchase & paid by DD fully every month, but after using the New Day card a few times with difficulties each time, I’m off.”
“Difficult to contact, phone says open until 5 pm but not working at 16.55! Holding for hours and still no reply. No address on their letters. They send an email with 'no reply'. Really poor. Still only using phone apps to authorise use of card. You can get better deals elsewhere. I have put not applicable in how I communicated because so far I haven't been able to communicate unless via John Lewis!”

“John Lewis informed us that their credit card was changing to Newday after 31st October. We were given plenty of notice to change over and Newday’s website appeared online. You COULD NOT access them. Phone calls involved 30 or 45 minute waits before you were asked to call back. Friends informed me that they couldn’t reach Newday and had had to drive to a John Lewis store for their accounts department to action it for them.”
“I have held a Jl card for many years . Having heard the poor reviews I was reluctant to apply for a New Day card but did so recently. It was approved and arrived fairly quickly . The card itself looks cheap . I tried to activate the card several times last evening with the codes given But it didn’t work .The card will be filed under ‘bin’ in favour of one from a High Street bank provider .”
“I have bee trying to arrange a balance transfer from my card to other credit cards with better rates. Each time i enter the JL card it isnt recognised. I've contacted New Day and they say its the other companies not fault not theirs, but 3 different cc companies don't recognise the JL card number. I'm going round in circles - don't know what else to do?!?!?”
“I can agree with all the poor reviews about NewDay and JL’s decision to move away from HSBC to this shoddy company. Like so many others my application was refused and I have not been able to to find out why. I have had a JL card since it’s inception. Every month my account is settled by DD. I am a Company Director with no mortgage and no other debt. My credit score is excellent on Experian. I visited JL Oxford Street last week to relay my experience to them. This prompted a phone call to ND and today I received an email from them (ND) apologising. The picture below shows a portion of the reply. I applied for an Amex card the other day which was approved. My card arrived after four days with a £10k limit. Thank you Amex! This is now my card of choice. Goodbye and good riddance to NewDay.”
“Why of why did you do it John Lewis Financial Services? Why did you change from HSBC to NewDay to run you Partneship Card? I have experienced identical problems with the changeover by John Lewis Financial Services from HSBC to NewDay as those outlined in other reviews. I have been a John Lewis customer for tens of years and use their Partnership Card a great deal and have never had any credit or payment problems. Like so many others I had no option but to change over to a Partneship Card run by New Day. First problem was that they dropped my credit limit to a third of what it was and refused to change it. I had to call NewDay this week on an unrelated issue and waited 40 minutes for the phone to be picked up. When I asked about the delay in response I was told "We look after many cards other than John Lewis". I guess that says it all.”
“Had a JLP Partnership credit card since launch in 2004. Paid off monthly bar two or three occasions when paid off a few days late. I currently have an Experian credit rating of 999. I own my house without a mortgage and have substantial savings. NewDay have just refused me! Unbelievable. Can only assume it's because they won't make any money from me. Bring back HSBC PLEASE.”

“Recently I was swapped to New Day as the new operator of the John Lewis Partnership card. I did not have a good first experience.
I was called by 'New Day' on my mobile phone and asked to provide various details, full name, address, date of birth etc.... I, of course, refused. I asked them how do I known you are who you say you are and not a scammer. They could not answer.
I ended the call. Now I find my new Partnership card has been stopped. After calling the customer service number and waiting for 45 minutes, I gave up and resorted to Twitter. Still awaiting meaningful contact.
Avoid this company at all costs. They are useless at absolutely every level.

“DO NOT BORROW WITH THESE FRAUDSTERS
Horrendous!! Didn’t take my direct debit details when the credit was taken with AO, so then proceeded to send a letter and email saying they’ve reported it to credit reference agencies until I pay. I try to pay by card, website says ‘we can’t accept payments at this time’ so I set up a direct debit for 100x the minimum payment in which they proceed to not bother to use to take a payment, withdraw the credit offer that exists and threaten credit reference agencies again.
Suffice to say I had the cash to pay it off anyway so I’ve paid it off because THEY HAVE NO BLOODY CONTACT DETAILS TO DISCUSS WITH ANYONE!
Absolutely atrocious none of their systems are talking to each other clearly. I’m appalled.”
“Appalling phone system, appalling customer service. If they can't answer your question on LiveChat the agents ignore you and inactivate the session. Statements still unavailable online 2 days after statement production date, email notifications of statements late. John Lewis have made a huge mistake by selecting NewDay as their card service provider and it doesn't reflect well on either company. After 20 years with a John Lewis Credit Card and now applying with another card company so that I can ditch the NewDay/John Lewis card.”
