I really like the "practice along with me" format that allows me to get music under my fingers even when I'm too tired to organize my practice session after work. I like the graded approach as I am very strong in some areas (theory) and weak in others... such that I'm not playing insipid arrangements until my fingers catch up...

Good lessons and there is enough here to find your challenge. I love how they use actual jazz standards rather than “sounds like xxx” songs. In doing so practice builds your body of playable material.

I have some of the lesson packs (Blues, bebop, ballads etc.) They are fantastic. The idea of combining lessons from musicians playing different instruments and contributing different insights and complementing each other works very well. Special mention to Sean Jones, Diane Reeves and Christian McBride whom I have found particularly inspiring. The piano stuff is also very useful (since I'm a pianist). I feel I have still months of practice exploring these ideas. Thank you !

Excellent! The information on this course is well presented and highly useful. It Is not ‘paint by numbers’ like some other courses I have seen advertised, but highly musical. It will, of course, require much play time at the piano.

I’ve had open studio for a week now and it’s been absolutely amazing! I’ve been playing piano for 5 years now and have wanted to really dive deep into Jazz piano and this has allowed me to do that! The lessons are great, teachers are top notch, and the interface is 1000 times better than any other platform I’ve used. I’m not sure if I’m missing it, but if there is a way to have your current lessons in your dashboard for easier access? Then I think it would be near perfect. Thank you! I can’t wait to see where this takes me on my piano journey.

Hi Ryan, We are relaunching our site shortly and will have a super easy way to jump back into the course(s) you have been working on, in addition to bookmarking. Best, Dan co-founder, Open Studio

My experience with Open Studio is very good. There's a lot of value for money - especially if you get the courses on sale, and the instructions and courses are valuable, easy to understand and follow and high quality. I expect to be using a lot of time on the platform in the coming year.

What an amazing resource. Thank you to all of you who make this possible. If only I had this in 2012 I would probably have avoided student loans.

I entered this study of jazz with far less than the level of proficiency of talent than required! I love jazz, but have played old Gospel my entire life! My lack of sufficient knowledge and inadequate skill level are the reasons for my initial negative evaluation! It was not the quality of instruction; but the lack of my own ability to be instructed! I sincerely apologize for sending the analysis of my own inadequacies as though they were reflective of the instructors! Please accept my honest feeling of regret for having implied my overestimating my ability, rather than simply stating I made an error of judgement! I firmly believe the course would be terrific for a musician with much greater ability than is mine! Sincerely, Denny Ragsdale

I was a bit tired of hopping from youtube vid to youtube vid -- tons of great content on there but very little structure. I bit the bullet and joined Open Studio first as a monthly member then as an annual. Every day I log in and I get exactly what I need. Clear, high-quality instruction, play-along tracks, high-quality video, and motivation. Considering a single in-person lesson with any one of these guys would be at least $100 per hour... spending a couple hundred bucks *per year* is a total steal. Plus Adam and the team have such good taste in what they teach, I feel like I'm learning a modern way of playing that suits my own preferences.
