“I have always been exceptionally squeamish about my eyes and have a particularly strong blink reflex - I haven't been able to wear contact lenses for this reason. As a result, I did find the procedure - whilst short, painless and over very quickly - particularly traumatic. I recognise this won't be the same for everyone. I also worry a little now about the long term risks/effects of this relatively new procedure. That said, the surgery has made a real difference to my life - my vision is much better than the vision that spectacles gave me - I can play sports, go swimming and go out in the rain without having to constantly wipe my glasses. Overall it is great.”

“I was amazed at how quick the actual surgery was. I was prepared to expect some pain and discomfort which was described to me as entirely normal. I was, therefore, surprised to find I had no pain at all and only once, did I experience a slightly gritty feeling in my right eye. My eyes did water considerably for a couple of hours, but after a short sleep, that too stopped. I can honestly say, having laser eye surgery was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Thankyou!”

“Hi, this is the first time I am writing a review online about a product or a service but i feel I need to share my story with you all. I used to wear glasses and contact lenses since the age of 17. I preffered contact lenses then glasses. I was constantly ordering them online, going for lenses check ups, eye tests and buying solutions. Most frequently I suffered from red eyes from over weraing my lenses. I know that bad as I was always suffereing from dry eyes. My vison was at -4.00 and had remained the same for the last 5 years. I used to find that working long hours in the office wearing contact lenses used to make my eyes even drier because of the environment, I used to hate the fact that when I had to shave my legs I had to wear my glasses in the shower just to see what i was doing. I had to avoid using the pool, jacuzzi and steam room at the gym as the water and chlorine would irrate my eyes. I had to keep my eyes tighly shut on the rides at theme parks and on jet skis on holidays beacuse i was worried about them falling out. Basically I had come to the point in my life when i realised this is effecting my lifestyle. I had to do something about it! I always wanted to get laser surgery done but always had the fear of if something goes wrong. I was told its cheaper abroad but i didnt want to take the risk as its my eyesight. I knew at Optical Express I would be in safe hands. I decided to go for a free consulation at Optical Express. My eyes were suitable for the surgery. I was please that finally i was going to get it fixed. At the time i didnt have the funds to pay upfront for the surgery but I devised a payment plan which suited me and it was interest free which was great. All my aftercare was included and the staff were great. My consultation was in Leicester and my surgery was in Birmingham. I travelled up alone but then had my mum to pick me up. I would recommend that you have someone to take you home as after surgery your vision is very sensitive. You will have to wear sunglasses straight away as your eyes are very sensitive to light. I returned home around 9pm. I decided to have an early night as I had a slight head ache and red eyes. I then woke up the next morning and it was like magic to my eyes. Everything was crystal clear. I couldnt stop staring at everything. It was such a good feeling. My lifestyle started to be more easier as i could enjoy so much more without the worry. The aftercare apoointments went fine and were taken place in my own home town. The optician provided me with drops to keep my eyes moist. My vison is perfect. It has been 2 years since i had it done and its the best thing i ever done and would recommend it to anyone who feels they have been in situations like mine :) Kajal”

“This is quite a traumatic and apprehesive proceedure for the patient. I have found Optical Express to be sympathetic, caring, informed and efficient at all stages of the treatment. At no time have I had any doubts as to the benefits I could experience. The reality exceeds those expectations, a truly life changing beneficial proceedure. “Operation quick and painfree, afterwards (understandbly) eyes were very sore. Took it easy on day of operation and paracetomol eased the pain. So nice to be able to cycle without glasses and go for a run without having to put in contact lenses prior. Also my glasses were thick and ugly and have more confidence in the way I look, happier in myself.”

“Good experience overall. The only reason i was prepared for the discomfort after the procedure was by talking to friends who'd had the procedure. This could have been more emphasised. I would not recommend anyone travelling home on their own. Good and friendly after care.”

“I cannot believe that it was so quick and painless. I walked in to the clinic at 1055 and having had the pre-tests, went straight in to the surgery room. In less than 10 minutes the surgery was complete. There was no pain just some slight discomfort and I walked out of the clinic at 1155. I spent the rest of the day in bed with my eyes closed as per the instructions from the clinic and when I went back the following day I had 20/20 vision in both eyes. The staff were very professional and the aftercare has been superb. I would recommend this to anyone thinking of having laser eye surgery.”
