About Outback Equipment:

Outback Equipment was born from a couple of mates with a big idea and an even bigger love for the outdoors. What started in the back of a garage quickly moved to a warehouse corner and now, over 10 years later, we’re running our own full-scale warehouse and showroom storefront in Acacia Ridge, Brisbane.

We kicked off with a fascination for light bars, but it didn’t take long to realise there was a lot more gear to get excited about. Outback Equipment has since grown into one of the largest online ranges of 4x4, camping, marine, and caravanning accessories in Australia. Driven by our customers’ passion for exploring the great outdoors, we’ve expanded our space, our range, and our mission.

We only stock gear we’d use ourselves. From brands like Aussie Traveller, MSA, CampBoss, BLA, Hardkorr, Superior Engineering, Tuff Terrain and Outback Explorer. With over 250 brands on our shelves and growing, we’re proud to support fellow adventurers at every stage of their journey.

“Very frustrating I’ve lost count how many times I’ve ordered things online only to find out when I ring the store that you don't have it in stock.. not very effective…”

“I purchased a water pump on the friday and installed it on the saturday. By Saturday lunch time it had stopped working so I returned it on Monday only to be told that they couldn't replace it but it had to be sent off to the manufacturers to be evaluated as to whether it was faulty. I was given a 7 day turn around on the answer and in the meanwhile I had to purchase another pump to replace the faulty one. After numerous phone calls to Outback Equipment over a month and continuously being told that the person I needed to speak to was not available, I was finally given my refund for the faulty water pump (after threatening legal action).”

“Back-up service was OK but the Product was falsely advertised as an incorrect size which cost me money in both directions due to Outback Equipment's incompetence in designating an SAE Thread size. Did not get the initial shipping cost refunded & lost on paying return shipping as well. Will never deal with these clowns again.”

“Bought the tuff terrain snorkel for my Pajero np 3.8 v6 and made it fit by a reputable mechanic that work on 4wds. Does not fit to the car, properly. Despite the Mechanic has followed the pattern perfectly though. No refund is possible obviously.”

“While the products they sell are good their customer service and inflexibility is poor. I will not be purchasing from this company again. I hope other customers dealings are better than mine.”

“I purchased a manual washing machine. The spin cycle didn't work. I called to return the item. I was told to hand spin my clothes then put them back into the machine. (Defeats the purpose) After a few phone calls I said I wanted to send it back as it was not as advertised. The delivery to me was $11 to send it back it cost me $29. I did get a refund but it was a costly experience for me and I will not be purchasing anything from Outback Equipment again.”

“I called and asked for the amperage of the heater. No one could give me a straight answer. I explained my max was 10 amp. Not getting help, i took a punt as the heater was for plugging into a 12V vehicle socket, and ordered the product. Plugged it in and in about 15 ssconds it blew the fuse. I left it at the camp ground with a note saying 'free'.”

“No notification goods were out of stock until I chased. Multiple promises to ship were never fulfilled. Got emails saying it had shipped when it hadn’t. Waited a huge amount of time and whilst i am ok with waiting, I don’t like being deceived. If customer service had been honest about it rather than telling me it had shipped when it hadn’t I would have been much happier.”

“The roof console is perfect but the switch panel I bought to fit into the space on the console is a joke. It doesn’t fit the space, it’s just 6 individual pieces that slot together. If it had been advertised correctly I would never have bought it.”

“Very poor communication from the company, only notified me 2 weeks after ordering the parts and only after I contacted them, waited another 3 weeks before canceling my order cause they still didn’t have the part in stock, but at the time of ordering their website said the parts were in stock and even before I cancelled the order it was still saying on their website that they had them, would not recommend this company to anyone, if I could give a zero star I would have”

“Terrible , the WRONG size dunny , the wrong item has sat at my door waiting to be picked up for 5 days now ! They wont send another one until this one gets picked up . I know Aust Post is flat out ! lm leaving very soon on a trip !”

“Shipping time for my sale took ages. Ony to dispatch from your warehouse in Brisbane took ages and parcel arrived 3 weeks later than what was promised. Eventally when arrived it was delivered to wrong address and my parcel could have been lost/stolen.”

“Anticipated a 5 day delivery that stretched to 5 weeks and two shipments. Phone support person was unhelpful and bordering on rudeness and couldn't provide tracking. Check the companies facebook to see similar comments.”
